Naw, you're prettier.  Much.  But I LOVE the bag.

Received a catalog in today's mail - Pyramid Collection.  Yowza!  Apparel for witches!  OMG, here are some shoes from it.

Girls, we've gotta get some of these!  They're called Black Widows.  I just handed my husband the catalog and walked away.  That should keep him busy for an hour or so.  LOL

    Love the Retro Make-up!!

Fashionistas, I go get the one-year mamm tomorrow.  Can't believe how much more shrinkage there has been in this boob since rads.

Kak - Wanted to send good wishes on your mamm tomorrow. I had mine last Wed. I love the place where I have it done; they never make me wait. The Rad Doc always comes in and gives me my US and Mamm results right then. They should all do that.

Love the retro make-up. I do a retro look freuently. I'll have to post a link to a You Tube vid I love showing a 60's look - but that's another thread. ;)

Was also hopiong to hear of Beth's travels. Til then - hugs to you all - TTFN! :)

Kathi - good luck today - we are all thinking "nothing wrong, everything is perfect" thoughts - you will do just great!!!   I get my first mammo since rads / surgery in December - haven't been given a date yet, but expecting to get that at my 2nd follow up next week.

I found the cutest necklaces on sale at Stein Mart, if any of you fashionistas have one nearby.  They were in the 30% off rack - I am wearing one today - it is tri-metal colored leaves - open work leaves connected with ovals - gold, coppery-colored and a dull silvery color.  Really pretty!  They also had a nice long dark brown leather cord necklace with a cluster of all kinds of little charms on the end (peace sign, metal leaf, beads, etc), and some beads randomly attached up and down the necklace.  Matching dangling earrings too.  Might as well rock the big earrings while the hair is growing in!

Kathi - good luck with your mammogram today! Take some deep breaths, breathe in breathe out.

Tina, That is Audrey Hepburn, not me -  ha. had to laugh. I just loved Audrey's look: her style, her face, her figure, lean and almost boyish - LOVE IT. And, of course, her kind soul. A true beauty if there ever was one.

I am SO excited - I just received a call from the American Cancer Society - their Look Good Feel Better program coordinator - I am one of 5 winners who entered their "Women of Hope Is Beautiful" contest earlier this summer!  They are flying me to NYC in late September for a professional makeover (YES!!!!) and publicity and we will attend their ball at the Waldorf Astoria.  Plus, my sister lives in NY and I haven't seen her since before dx, so I was able to get them to extend my flight by a few days so I can stay with her and have some fun in the city.  The hair should be in a more style-able length then, and it is just so cool.  I didn't think my entry was anything super special, and there were hundreds of winners, but yay!!  A makeover.  I really really wanted one!!  Also, since I'm in marketing/PR, they have asked me to get up and speak before the attendees (about 800 people - ACS, the Beauty Alliance, etc.), which I gladly accepted.

Now, for the big question . . . what kind of ballgown?  I don't have a ton of hair yet, it is barely a pixie, and by next month it should be fuller and longer (I hope!!), but I was thinking of something simple and elegant to kind of keep with the clean lines of the hair?  Suggestions?

Michele - How exciting!! Congrats on your win and for being asked to speak in front of the group. That is quite an honor.

As for the ballgown - my personal preference is clean simple lines as you mention, and strapless. Can you go strapless? It is tough for me now to do strapless due to by masts, but that was my dress preference pre BC.

How long is your hair? Is it coming in curly? Mine did come in curly, but not until it was a couple of inches long.

It is SO hard to find an entire picture of a dress. I say just some dresses on and see what looks best.

I have copied some pictures below of brunette celebrities with short hair, as I was looking for ideas for your dress. The strapless seems to be favored, but I did see a cute spaghetti strap dress on Winona Ryder (below).

Just some ideas (not that you can see the entire dress!!! - but ideas of necklines.

just a neckline idea. looks nice.

That is exciting news, Michele!  Wonderful.  I hope you have a fabulous time.

I'm afraid I'm not much help in the dress dept except to say that I, too, prefer as simple as possible.  I'm also of the school that anything is better than looking ridiculous, so stay away from really trendy stuff.

We'll be waiting for a blow-by-blow report on THIS trip!

Raye and Tina - Yes, I found a beautiful strapless dress - from Nordstroms.  It is on sale, from the designer section.  Eggplant satin, ruched in the waist.  Clean, simple, elegant lines.  Gorgeous!!  I tried to post a photo, but it is very blurry and small, so never mind.  Going to order the dress today.  It's a beautiful color, very "in" for fall, and works well with my coloring.  Now, on to accessories!!  A jeweled metal cuff?  Necklace and earring ideas?   I have a beautiful black wrap - sheer with some beading on it, and black silk and beading sandals I wore to a formal event last year.  Keeping it simple there so the gorgeous dress and accessories shine.

My hair is shorter than Winona Ryder's or Natalie Portman's at this point, I am hoping the top gets long enough for them to do something with.  The back is filling in, and I'm thinking with a month until I go, it should be enough time for more growth.

The dress sounds fabulous and in one of my favorites colors. As for accessories, I would go light on them. What is the dress called? I would like to look at it online if you don't mind?

That's what I was thinking.  Maybe some really great earrings and the jeweled cuff and leave it at that.  I don't want to be overdone, and ruin the clean lines of the dress.  It is called the JS Boutique strapless ruched satin gown, in eggplant.  On the Nordstroms site, in their sale section.

Michelle, how fun!  Congrats & enjoy!!  I love the color eggplant.  I bet the gown is beautiful.  Try and post a photo if you can.  How about rhinestone jewelry?  Fab earrings that would show well with short hair and a delicate necklace?

Mamm went okay.  I hate going to that bloody hospital, especially since it was the one year anniversary of my surgery, so I was reliving everything in my head.  I managed to shut it off mostly when I was there, but when I was driving home, I cried and stayed weepy all day.  Won't hear the final word till tomorrow probably.  Blech, as one of our bco sisters so eloquently said about it elsewhere.  Can't believe how much my poor boob has shrunk since rads.  Looks like one of those mountains in the South after they've been strip-mining for coal...

I  stayed out of work today as a favor to my patients.  I wouldn't want me trying to concentrate if I were one of them!!  Mental health day.

As I was leaving the hospital yesterday, a jeweler was selling some fused glass beads and some jewelry out in the lobby.  Immediately, I saw a pair of silver angel wing earrings, which seemed like just the thing I needed, so I bought them and put them on.

The eggplant dress is lovely.  I just looked on the nordstroms site.  You could accessorize this almost anyway you please.  Great canvas!  Shiny cuff, maybe diamond studded (sure!), would be great.  Then, either drop earrings, which will show so well with your short hair, or a short necklace, maybe 16-18" with a drop, ALL DIAMONDS, would be great. LOL  Shoot the buck.  Well, CZs or Swarovski crystals would do just fine, too.

    Have a great time planning.

I'm into the chop-shop tomorrow for about 5 days so won't be checking in until sometime next week.  See you then!

Kathi - Thinking of you, here's to very good results tomorrow!! I understand you being upset, I sometimes get very weepy at the onc's office (or parking deck before I even enter the building), although it does seem to get better each time. Thank goodness I don't have to get mamms - no boobies.

Michele - found the dress online. Yes, it is indeed lovely! What a color. whoo. love it love it. I would go easy on the accessorizing. I like Tina's idea of the dangling, but simple earrings and maybe a bracelet (like the cuff idea), but maybe skip the necklace. JMHO, but I think all of that would be too much. Funk up that hair a bit, have fun with makeup (oh wait, you are getting a makeover, oh how fun!!). Can you tell I am excited?

I have a pic of the dress all ready to post with your permission - just let me know.

In the meantime, check out these shoes ladies! MMMM. Tina, I know you probably won't like them. :)

Raye, go for it!  I couldn't figure out how to do it.  I was thinking just that - really gorg drop earrings and then a bold jeweled cuff would be all it needs.  Too bad Target (pronounced the French way, of course) doesn't have those great jeweled cuffs anymore - maybe I can find something similar.

Tina - good luck with your surgery!!!  We'll be thinking of you.

Love love those shoes!!  With my job, I'm running here and there a lot, and I always buy too-high a heel for a boat manufacturer, but I am the marketing manager and need to look put together - but it always gets me in the end with the shoes.  Can't help it - love shoes!.  I keep a pair of white keds in my filing cabinet for when I need to get out on the boats.

    voila! Beautiful!!!

Thanks, Raye!  It is such a pretty dress.  What do you think about this cuff bracelet?  From Amazon.com, it is a delicate rose cutout bracelet with 3.30 carats of CZ?

Oh, very nice! I really like it. Very delicate, but yet nice and wide (I like a wide cuff bracelet). I found another on Amazon, but holy geez, it is expensive and not exactly delicate. More cool than anything.  Check it out below.

Ooh, like that too.  Also saw a very wide (I do like the wide ones best as well) silver one with a copper band circling it, but it looked a little casual.  I will keep looking and checking out some of our local stores as well, and if all else fails, I know Amazon has a great selection - and I can get the earrings too.

And, I could go with gold, something like this:

Also from Amazon.com.  Don't know yet if the silver or the gold would actually look better.  I can do either - maybe I'll wait until the dress arrives so I can see if it is more of a cool eggplant or a warm eggplant  - that will help determine the accessories a little.

I like them both - that last one has a bit of a Grecian look to it - like that.  I am more of a silver person myself, but like you said - wait until the dress comes and see the exact shade of eggplant to help you determine the accessory color. Good luck.

Thanks for the good wishes, girls.  So nice to be loved. Smile

Anyway, Raye, those shoes are not too bad.  I don't think I would wear them, but I'm not you and I think you could carry them off.  At least they're not glads!

Michele, that first, lacy cuff with the cz's would be my taste.  Then, too, you would not have to decide between silver and gold.  Plus, I think the bling would be just the thing with that simple dress.  After that, I have in mind a shiny, 2" silver cuff, slightly rounded profile, with, perhaps, some bezel mount large gemstones in color to complement the eggplant.  Too bad there isn't time or I would make you a special cuff as I did for Beth.  She wanted a Chanel cuff similar to this but with the double C logo, only it was about $2000 and just black resin and rhinestones.

ah - and I found this totally cool pair of gladiators, Tina, which I ALMOST posted!

    I like the Beth bracelet.

    Michele,

My pick is now the last bracelet you posted - the All the Rage one. I LOVE THAT ONE. It is perfect. Funky, but not too much, very unique and would bring a bit of flowery life to your beautiful, simple dress. Now you would have to be careful with the earrings. Perhaps something very simple in gold? studs? flowers?
