Two Daughters with breast cancer

Hi,  My name is Joyce.  I am new to this forum, so bear with me.  I have two daughters with breast cancer.  Joy is 40 and has one more Chemo.  She tested positive for the Brac2 Mutation.  She has had one mastectomy and has to do the other breast and a hysterectomy after she finishes radiation.  This Chemo stuff is so hard on her.

Traci is 43.  She was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago.  She had an MRI and Blood work for the Genetic test last week.  The dr is pretty sure she will test positive for the Brac2 Mutation Joy has.  My question is this..Friday, her dr called and said he has found spots on her liver from the mri and wants her to do a cat scan with contrast this week.  Has anyone had this to happen?  Is this likely to be cancer too?  I just want honest answers.  Thanks,  A heartbrokened Mom in Ga.

    Dear Ganma,  I do not know the answer to your question but I am sending you hugs and support.  It must be very hard and I wish you love from one mother to another.  Best of luck and keep us informed.  Alot of caring and supportive people on these boards.

    Joyce,

    So sorry you are going through this with your daughters, but they will need your strength and help so good for you to be concerned and involved. It is not always the case.

    Don't drive yourself crazy about the liver scan. Many things can cause that, so try not to go there.  Stay positive as much as possible until you have more info. Info is power, not the gray area of not knowing. That is one of the most difficult parts of this... the waiting and not knowing. If itis something of concern you will have plenty of time to think about it. If it is benign, you will have wasted precious time worrying about something that was not there.  I am not suggesting putting your head in the sand, just take a deep breath and take it slow. Your daughters will need your clarity and support.

    Joyce so sorry.......I have a sister who has bc too.....I am stage 1b and she is stage 3....We are BRCA neg....I am in Alpharetta if you are close please PM me and we can get in touch with each other........I can't imagine how you must feel right now but please know I ma thinking of you and your daughters.......

    Joyce - so terribly sorry about your daughters.  My daughter was 33 last year when she was diagnosed. She has finished chemo (it was very hard on her) and radiation, and will have the other breast removed when all treatments are finished.

    Once she was diagnosed there were so many tests and I hated the wait for results, 3 or 4 days seemed like weeks so me.

    Looking back, I am so thankful that the doctors were so thorough.

    I can't begin to imagine your worry and concern for both your girls.

    Hi Joyce:

    I am so sorry to hear of your situation and of your daughters, as well. I too, have 2 daughters with the same problem and I do know it's a bugger, for you and them.

     We've been through the MRI's, CAT scans X-Rays, Blood work, etc, etc and it just drives us wild waiting for results and imagining everything know to mankind. With both of my daughters, in succession of diagnosis and treatment going over 11 years, it's truely nasty.

    To answer your question about the Liver spots, it could or it could not be significant. That's one of the things that makes the process of coping with the disease so stressful. I doubt that anyone on this forum would disagree.

    It is my heartfelt wish that you are in a good facility with excellent Oncology support and patient/family support. Sometimes it's very difficult to find someone that can give you some answers, but they're out there. Yell and scream a lot for some answers(just kidding) . I have found that mostly all of the Medical staff will be more than helpful and understand your stress.This forum and website is also very helpful.

    I wish you all, a love for one another, joy for each day, and peace in you strength.

    As a mother I cannot imagine what you and your daughters are going through right now.  As the others have said, the waiting part is the hardest.  Please know  you and your family are in my prayers.
