SO glad you won! We done good!

Okay, seriously, today has been such an incredible day. I got a new top at Target for work today b/c I had two back to back mtgs with the partners, etc, and I wanted to look good. I had one of those really good hair/makeup/outfit days. I got to work, and saw the email that I won the Brickfish contest. I won a $500 amex gift card, $300 in Con Air gifts, and the opportunity to be a guest ask the expert blogger for Con Air!
Literally 2 minutes after finding out I won, I had to get into the mtg, which I KILLED it!!! I got a raise, and impressed everyone. Meeting two was equally as successful. If it couldn't get any better, on my way home from work I went to the drug store to get an rx of 90 pills filled. My health insurance recently changed from GHI to Emblem. I pull up to the window to get my rx, and THERE WAS NO CHARGE!!!!!! No co-pay, no fee, no nothing!!!!!!!!
Could it get any better? I've got my third load of laundry in, and two more days of work before I leave. I can't believe this day. Now to figure out what I have to do to repeat this tomorrow???
-
Beth, you are what I picture when I remember those commercials from long ago (probably before you were born) about 'grabbing all the gusto you can.' Have a great adventure!
-
Don't try for a repeat tomorrow! You'll only far short. What a glorious day! Woo hoo to you too!
-
So glad to be the sistahs.. Thanks Katie
-
Beth, it truly was YOUR day yesterday! What a great turn of events, one after another! Good for you!!
I love it when an outfit / accessories / makeup / hair (well, when it comes back) all rock - you feel great, you look great and I believe it definitely improves your overall karma and vibes. I pulled a dress out that I haven't worn in 6 months, but I'm starting to lose weight (3 lbs!!) and it fits much better - it's a long tank dress, soft cotton, black with white tie-dye type stripes in it, racerback. I'm wearing a long string of apple green beads double wound, and an apple green cardi. From the compliments I'm getting, I need to wear this more often!

What a golden day...
-
A great day indeed! One that you will always remember. "today is the greatest day I've ever known..." Smashing Pumpkins kind of great day.
Chelev - your outfit sounds rocking cute!
-
Chevlev, your outfit description made me smile. Sounds like you love it too! That was a very colourful and apt picture you painted......
-
Beth - huge congrats on the contest! You deserved it. Have a wonderful time on your trip! Cant wait to see the pix!
Edited to say:
Kathi - Your shirt is wonderful! It brought tears to my eyes as well. You did a beautiful job on it and eveyone's names on the back makes it so powerful.
-
Hey Beth.. Congratulations lady. I saw the T-shirt pic but missed to read your post as I was in a hurry. That is wonderful.......
-
*****YYYIIIIIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE
You just blew them all away~! Time one of us had a "golden" day!
-
Thanks so much, girls, for all the great feedback.
And BETH!!!! That's the best thing I've heard all week!!! I am sooo delighted for you. On all counts!! If there's a ceremony or something for the Conair thing, can we all go??
I've been having another bout of post-rads-long-term-side-effects exhaustion, which is why I haven't been around much. That's what I get for thinking I was starting to feel normal again & able to do lots of fun things after work. My PCP ordered labs & everything was fine except my blood. All my blood counts, white, red, etc. were either at the bottom end of normal or just below normal. At least I know that there's a reason why I feel sort of okay, then run out of steam and crash. I'm doing all the right things, but I wanna scream when I think there might be up to two friggin' years of this. Good lord. Sometimes it's all I can do to crawl home after work & sleep.....
Love you girls. If I'm not here, it's because I'm taking another long nap, but dreaming of posting....!!
-
Kathi- if your Reds are low you'll definitely be exhausted.... Hopefully it's just a passing thing-- but make sure you're eating great, and staying hydrated in the meantime.
I love you girls so much. I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow!!!!
-
Beth, have a BLAST!!!!! Post if you can, but we expect a TON of pix when you come back. Don't post somewhere else where we don't know....
-
Popping in to tell you girls that I had an unexpected shopping day yesterday. Went to meet a girlfriend and we ended up at a mall and I ended up in the Pendleton store and found TWO jackets that actually fit me! This is so odd because I have a hard time finding jackets and coats that fit in the (verynarrow) shoulders along with the rest of the parts. Wow. Happy day. Here's one of them. Fits to a "T"
The other one I can't find. Short, black, heavy and lined cotton knit with collar, 3/4 sleeves with a bit of a bell cuff. Tres cute!
I admit I am not a regular high heel wearer so you can chalk this up to that. LOL http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/health/2009/08/15/cohen.women.and.shoes.cnn
Life is good.

Oh my gosh Tina, Love it!!
I think I need some retail therapy.

Hi Beth,
I chose not to reconstruct and Aetna is an ass. Right now after my op (total mastectomy on May 6) I have been relying on a bra I made from two mop sponges and a cloth strapless bra. If any body would have a 34 A form or bra, I would cry a river in a thank you r soul.. My phone is 831- 419-1154 and my address is

Hey Miss Beth,
I have been anxiously waiting to hear about your adventure. I hope all went well and you had a good time. Check in girlie!
Lexi
-
The girl is a whirlwind! I know she is catching up at work but hopefully will have time to catch up here soon. We MISS HER.
Has anyone seen all those pre-distressed jeans coming out this year? Oh, they are so ugly and awful and cost $200!!! Well, lots of them do. What are they thinking?
It seems I'm so frequently asking that........
Shopping last week, I'd have to say purple will be big again this year. Has anyone heard of other colors the designers are pushing?
-
Tina, when my jeans looked like that, my mom made me throw them out!
Sheila
-
Tina, I agree - some of these "new" jeans are looking pretty raggedy, for the money. We did the whole distressed thing a few years ago and it just looks sloppy. I do like the "boyfriend" styling, a little looser and more generous cut looks good for a change from the super stick thin straight legs. I love a very dark denim in a boot cut with a nice, tall shoe or boot. I have a pair of cropped dark wash boyfriend jeans coming from Victoria's Secret this week - hoping they look as good on as they do in the catalog. Planning to wear them with espadrilles or gladiators now, and with my boots as it gets colder (gotta wait until at least December here in Florida!)
I was reading a blog this weekend that was saying wooden and fabric jewelry will be big. Haven't seen much on color yet, but some of the stores near me are bringing in fall items, and there is a lot of rust and burnt orange colors. Probably typical for fall.
-
I don't like those pin straight tight legs either. Not with my short legs - I look ridiculous in those. My faves too are dark blue, fitted butt, boot cut jeans in long. Hope I can still find some of those.
As for colors, blue seems to be really in, as is that dark orange as Chelev (Michele?) mentions.
Check out this blue purse below. I love it!
Also, love the look of this girl's makeup (below the purse)- I think she is so pretty. But that is for another thread (not that it really matters).
