"Moving", a whole new meaning
Move is a 4 letter word! I hate that word. When we moved here last November it was with the hope that it would be for a long long long time. Well the economy has fixed that in many ways - not the least of which is my husband losing his job. Luckily he was almost to full retirement age so we'll be okay.
I have to say that Obama rocks if for nothing else than the ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act) which cuts (for many many people) COBRA expenses by 60%!!!! We'll still be able to afford medical care - thank heavens.
But, to bring this back to topic; I quit my femara in July after being told that it was more than likely causing the "stinging nettle" sensation that I have. Well I still have it, the hot flashes are even worse than before and the Effexor is doing nothing for them. I'm going to talk to my Onc, as soon as we get our COBRA paperwork, and ask him to wean me off of it. I'm wondering if that is causing the itching. I'm not certain about the Tamoxifen - but for now I don't need to be hobbled by any side effects because. . . . . . .
We're moving again - 98% certainty; to Medina North Dakota. I'm not sure what I'll find there for medical care - but Minnesota isn't too far away, or Bismark & Fargo. We'll be living in a mobile on a farm owned by good friends and will have minimal living expenses and should be able to be fairly self sufficient in many ways. I'm looking forward to a cleaner, less toxic lifestyle with less stress, more joy in the simple things, and the beauty of the country.
Is anyone here from the North Dakota area? I'm just wondering if I'll be able to find good doctors (it'd be nice to find one that actually examines his patients rather than sitting across the room arms folded like my onc. and gp now.
Thanks for any input!

I live in St. Cloud, Minnesota, which is just under 3 hours away from Fargo. I used to travel to Fargo and Bismarck for my job. You should have no trouble finding good doctors in either of those cities. (And they ARE real cities - they're just small cities.)
If you need anything really specialized, the Mayo Clinic is in Rochester, MN, about 5 hours away from Fargo, and docs in ND are pretty familiar with referring patients there when they need to.
Good luck with your move, and welcome to the Midwest!

Thank you Anne. We are so excited about this move. I can't wait to get out of California.

I hope you get to move soon! The weather is beautiful now and will stay that way until about Halloween. Then it will suddenly turn cold and stay that way until about Valentine's Day.
If the mobile you're moving into doesn't have good insulation, you may want to add some before fall, or your furnace will be running all the time.
Have you ever lived in the upper midwest before? If not, two words: Thinsulate gloves.
Good luck with your move! If there's anything I can do to help, please feel free to PM me.

Thank you Anne.
Plans are on hold for a bit - my Mom is in hospice care right now and I'm with the family until the end. We'll have to head that way for a look see a little later than planned. We're still hoping for Halloween - Thanksgiving at the absolute latest.
The mobile is heavily insulated and built for the North Dakota winters. I'm my own little furnace so I ought to be pretty comfortable back there. I do have some of those gloves - somewhere.
Thanks again

My sympathy to you and your mom and your family. I hope she has a peaceful journey.
Good luck on your move, and take care.
