worried about IBC
Hi everyone,,,I am new here and have read some incredible stories. I'm posting here because I have not been diagnosed and would love some feedback from you all. ok,,,, so i'm 42, had a hysterectomy in Nov last year..kept my ovaries, and have a mother who had breast cancer ay exactly my age...she is now 69 and fine, thank god. I started to have this incredible itch on my right breast almost 4 weeks ago. it was like it was inside my skin and i couldnt get to it, then i developed a rash that looked like a very bumpy sunburn. i had a mamo scheduled for august so i called and moved it up to july 25. also made an appt with my pcp for a follow up and to have her look at the rash...my mamo came back clean and my dr gave me prednisone for the rash because she thought it looked more like an allergic reaction...i questioned this because i have done nothing different and why just my breast??? well i took the prednisone for a week and i have to say it got better...but as soon as i stopped it was back..incredible itch, red bumpy skin, and stabbing pains....now its in both breasts....the only thing is that the rash comes and goes...sometimes its so bad it looks freakish...and sometimes it isnt there at all...but the itch is.has anyone else had these symptoms?? i have read so much about IBC in the past few days and my symptoms fit exactly except that the rash isn't always there. i have an appt with a breast specialist tomorrow , but i'm kind of afraid they are going to tell me its nothing when i think it is...i hate to be stupid about this and i also dont want to look for something that isnt there....can anyone tell me if i should push for further testing if they say its nothing?? i'd love some advice....scared and waiting..

Steff,
I responded to this question on the other thread you started. Check that one for my post.

IBC symptoms are different for everyone with me I had none of the symptoms that are listed. IBC does not show up on mammograms and the only way to get a correct dx is by biopsy. I would push for a biopsy of the area also make sure that they get some of the skin with the rash on it. The sooner you know what it is the sooner you can get the correct treatment.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
Hugs
Laura
