Help with Prescription

Options

I need to know what to ask the doctor to put on my prescription. I told the first oncologist I wanted my hormone levels checked. She put estriol on the prescription. The 2nd oncologist I went to put estrogen on the prescription. I need to know if it has to be specific. I want to know my Progesterone levels and PTH levels as well as all the estrogen i.e., estriol and the other estrogens. Can somebody please advise. I have an appt. Monday with my general surgeon. She's only interested in getting me started on chemo, but I'm going to try and get her to write a prescription. If she wont, I'll go back to the 2nd oncologist I saw. He seemed more helpful.

The oncologist wasn't prescribing me estrogen. She wanted my estrogen levels checked. Specifically estradiol was what she wrote on the prescription.

Estriol is not a test it is a hormone treatment.......I'm a little confused...Do you want a prescription for medicine or do you want orders for bloodwork to test your estrogen levels?.......Bloodtests and prescriptions are two different things.......Prescriptions are for medicines..........

I think the prescription is for the blood work to be done, not that the doc is recommending estrogen or estriol just what needs to be tested.

My doctor tested Progesterone, SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin), Estrone Sulfate, Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2), Estriol (E3), DHEA-S, Testosterone, Free Androgen Index, 2-Hydroxyestrone, 16-Hydroxyestrone and the 2:16 hydroxyestrone ratio.

Makingway, she should be testing for all of these, just testing for "Estrogen" won't tell you anything, "Estrogen" is a class of hormones not just one thing, so knowing what all of your levels are for the ones mentioned above will give you the big picture.
