Hi Ladies-
Well, I am on day 15 from first chemo and even tho I buzzed my hair 10 dys before treatment it is now falling put. I can run my hand thru the short hair and out it os coming slowlt. I figure I will be balkd in less the 10 days now. Oh well it is just hair.
I go Monday evening to the Look Good Feel Good cvlass by the American Cancer Society. I am actually looking forward to it and meetint others, hopefully maybe new friends.
The last 4 maybe 5 days I have been feeling better, just so darn tired. Lots of naps at odd times. Then sleeping at nights is way off. I seem to keep such weird hours and they make no sense.
I noticed a few saying the were having a problem with constipation....my onco said it was alright to use Alfalfa tablets for that and they work really well for me. I take 2 morning and night. But I ahve at times taken 3. Also black licorce seems to work well for me. Maybe one of these will work for anyone else also.
My friend and I go toa support group for BC every other Tuesday night.....they are a good group os ladies to talk too. The last weekend of this month they are having a weekend get away 'Puttin on the Glitz', we are going as it sounds likea lot of fun.
For all the responses I have received Thank You so very much. I try to worry about my health, but I worry more about my grandson. He has easrned the right to make so phone calls (not collect) and I have spoken to him twice now. that helps alot hearing his voice. 7 years ago when I had open heart surgery he wanted to be the one to come and take care of me. He has a good heart I just want him to see that he can do so much better and be the good person I know he is.
Well, time to close.
Stay safe all My prayers for all
Shae

Happy Saturday Triple J's!! I hope everyone is having a carefree and se free day!!
I received this image as part of an e-mail and thought with all the talk about 'doggie' gas... you would enjoy this... :-)

PS73, I love sushi but my onc said no raw fish, so I haven't had it. Maybe you should ask. I go for #4 AC Wednesday and am going to ask Dr. about the vitamin B before I start taxol. Feel better...
-
I hear you, Shae, about the fatigue. Now that I'm past 2nd treatment, I'm feeling the fatigue. Would love to hear how everyone is trying to combat that. A couple weeks after treatment most SE are gone or mild, but not the fatigue. I'm doing Wii Fit for a little exercise to boost my energy and trying to eat right, but not much help. Feel like sitting around all weekend doing nothing. (Also, I've loved the various pix - especially the dog one).
-
I keep going back to the gassy dog. Makes me laugh every time!
Loving life today - are you able to do your photography now? I am a glass artist and I just haven't been feeling my normal creative self since starting chemo. I sure hope I get that "mojo" back soon.
-
Glassist~I can't do my photography right now because I was sick two of the three weeks and my white count dropped way too low to work with children... which is most of what I do. The two weeks I was sick I did not even want to think about holding a camera. My studio is in my home so I won't have to pay rent on a commercial place while I'm down. The glass work you do, is it stained glass?? I've worked a little bit with stained glass, I took a piece of white and put an image on it in the darkroom and then made a stained glass frame around it. I keep telling myself I want to get my stuff back out and play. I would love to see your work... can you
PM me??Elizabeth~LovingLifeToday

LovingLifeToday - I pm'd a link to you.
-
Glassist~ Your work is beautiful! What an awesome talent!! You can just see the love in each piece

Just checking in. Day four from tx2 DD AC. Still doing well with little in the way of SEs. Just burping!!! No neulasta effects so far. My hair is really coming out now - very noticeable in the shower this morning. Managed a busy day yesterday - farmer's market, grocery shopping, ironing and then a trip to Walmart as they had crayola markers on sale for $1 a packet so I got stocked up ready for when my preschool year starts in September.
Hoping for a SE free day for everyone.

Best Wishes.
to all who are on vacation from chemo and those who have treatments this week.

Hi Breast Buds.....
Ok...I have a question....I have been having some issues with my right arm (that is where they took 19 lymph nods) and it feels really tight when I lift or stretch it, all the way down to my elbow and forearm. Anyone doing arm weights to help this??? Also, anyone else having pain when sleeping from the Tissue expanders??? Just want to be sure I am normal (what is normal...by the way???)!!!!
Enjoy your Monday!!!
Linda
-
Linda-don't know if this helps much but I can tell you that where they took out my lymph node was much more painful than the lumpectomy and took longer to heal. Are you getting any P.T.? Good luck and I pray your pain stops very soon.
-
Linda, I also have tissue expanders and had a radical node disection on the right side done on July 10, I also have decreased movement in my right arm, and even have some swelling on and off under my right arm and sometime the tissue expanders still bite me.
I am very weak today, day 5 from round 2 of T/C, mouth is raw, but no nausea of diarrhea this time, and decrease bloating.
Lori
-
Lori...I hope you are feeling better as the day goes on...My surgery was June 4 so I guess it is just a long healing process!
Paulding... No PT, but I am going to do arm weights on my own and see if that helps.
Praying for all the women here.....we are strong and we will be survivors!!
Love....
Linda
-
Linda you may want to get a referral and make an appointment with a physical therapist. I've seen one a few times now and she told me not to do any weight lifting with my "bad" arm - you may be doing more damage than good.
Did your surgeon give you a list of stretching exercises to do after surgery? Like wall walks or towel stretches?
-
Made it through A/C #2 this a.m.! Great drugs, so no SE yet. Great nurse, who turns out to be a trekkie, and got the reference when I told her I felt like the Borg Queen with my bald head. She also understood what I meant when I told her that the mediport and all the other stuff I was hooked up to made me feel as if I was "being assimilated". Other nurses and patients at the center chimed in with their comments (lots of trekkies!!!) and as we departed we gave each other the live long and prosper sign.:)
-
Niknak.... I have done the wall walk, and I can do it....but, everything feels really tight and sore. I have a friend who is a PT so I will ask her what she thinks about the weights before I try that!
Thanks for all your input on this...

Hi to all!!
I am feeling a lot better today 14 days after the second round of AC. I hope the next one goes easier than the last two!! I need a break! Hope everyone else is having easier SE or No SE this week. I tried to catch up on the posts. HUGS TO ALL.

Hi to all. hope everything is well with everyone. today is my 2nd treatment of t/c im taking my steroids starting to feel like the go go bunny again, i have now been wearing scarfs now im the biker mama .....
-
Hello Ladies - hope everyone who is feeling well stays that way and anyone not feeling well feels better asap!
A couple questions - for the ladies who didn't buzz their hair and still have some left, did you find that you lost most of it on top, but still have some on the sides and back and maybe very front? I'm just wondering why mine seems to be doing better in the back and worse on top. Hoping it's not indicative of anything. My father is bald on top - no offense to him, but I don't want to look THAT much like him.
Also - anyone having trouble with an irregular cycle or have a doctor who told them how irregular it might be? Started T/C on 7/13, had a period on schedule 7/17, then another 7/31, and now some more bleeding 8/10. I'm hoping it doesn't continue like this although I suppose I should be prepared for it to be.
-
Hi to my Triple J sisters! I hope everyone is well and if not, feel better soon.
My hair falling out has been a trip. I have very thick curly hair and over the past week or so I've been brushing out lots of hair, but not very noticeable. Yesterday I took a shower and out of nowhere I got the biggest matted knot in my hair - worst than any dog or cat I've seen.
I tried for an hour using oil, etc. to get it out, finally gave up and had to cut it out. When I went back in the shower to wash my hair again, well out it came in big clumps - not all of it, but enough that a wig or hat looks better. Not the way I expected this to happen but definitely a new twist on having a 'Bad Hair Day'. I know . . . it will grow back . . .
Crisct, my hair seems to be falling out more on the top and on the sides.
Gearing up for treatment #2 on Friday. How was #2 for everyone compared to #1?
Thanks!
-
hi karen i have my second treatment tomorrow morning 8 45 .......any chance your on t/c
-
I had my 2nd T/C last Monday - had an allergic reaction that time, but she stopped the infusion and gave me Benedryl and I was okay - then started it up more slowly. Just need premeds next time. SE's were basically the same, but I had less energy. 1st time, I went for a run on day 2 - still up on steroids, I imagine. This time, legs were like lead and burned and couldn't go as far. I was really dragging toward the end of the week, but I'm a little better this week hoping to continue to improve.
-
Hey Triple J's, I have been feeling good enough mowed the lawn this everning. I have a question for the ones with TE's. Is anybody having their fills at the same time as chemo? Also any eye problems on A/C. The time is going fast # 4 A/C Wednesday. Then done. I think I am getting taxtoere. after that. Anyone on it in this group and the SE's to watch out. Hugs Dianne
-
Hi Triple J's, Sunday was my 51st wedding anniversary. Had a great day. I will never forget the date that my hair started falling out. Thats right, when I brushed my hair out last night it was coming out in bunches. My daughters will buzz the rest off this week when we all get together. It will be quite a party. Outside of the headaches each day, I have felt quite good. Very few complaints. One more week till my next chemo treatment and I intend to live it up. My prayers are with all of you.
-
chrisct - hair question - I still have hair on the side though very thin - more bald on top. This week is 3rd AC so I may loose the rest of it.
Karen - my treatment #2 (AC) was better than the first. Dr. said that by the time she gets my meds right, I'll be finished. She gave me Emend this time in IV and it worked great - until Sat. night (treatment on Thursday). I asked her last Thursday if I could get "emend to go" this time and she said sure - she will give me IV and then pills to take on Friday and Saturday. I pretty much had the same SE as the 1st time, constipation for about a week, a little sore throat and some fatigue. Eyesight has been affected by treatment - depend on reading glasses a lot more since beginning treatment and this time had some leg cramps at night.
Diane - my eyesight has been affected also - depending on reading glasses a lot more these days.

Hi Js, hope everybody is doing the best they can and managing the SEs. Im six days out of my tx 3 of AC and this was by far the worst yet. Im hoping #4 is atleast a little easier. Im allergic to muscle relaxers so ive had to deal with the pain the old fashioned way and it literally hurt to breathe. The neulasta really kicked my butt this round and I couldn't sleep through the pain with two valium and one anti anxiety. ..but, Im out of the woods now and am just so relieved to be done with round 3. I still have the neck pain and the fatigue and the overall feeling of being hungover but far better than this past weekend.
Anybody know what to expect w/ the eye brows and the eye lashes? ..and if Taxol and herceptin make you lose your hair as well?
Christc, I got my period after my first treatment of AC and Im due again any day now. Not sure what part of the chemo affects menstruation. Ill ask my nurse when I see her next wed.
Hang in there guys, we are barreling through this.
-
Hi PS73,
When I got my first Neulasta nobody said anything about pain. After 2 nights of suffering I've been told i should taken some Tylenol or Advil.
Herceptin definitely not but during Taxol my hair didn't grow either.
I never lost my eyebrows it just got very thin.
My chemo nurse explained to me that Herceptin wasn't chemo but a targeted maintenance drug.
I hope this was helpful.
Are you going to be on Herceptin for 52 weeks or every 3 weeks?
Good luck
Sheila

Hi all TRIPLE J"S. Had my White count ck'd today. All was fine. Yea. I am day 15 from my 1st treatment and my hair is starting to come out.
New it would happen but still emotional. Linda I had 20 nodes removed and yes I still have discomfort in my arm and don't have full range of motion. I am doing several different stretching exercises they seem to be helping slowly. If I forget and lift anything very heavy my arm hurts and feels swollen.
SallyMae I also have my second treatment next week so am eating well and enjoying this week.
May all have a great week with no SE's.
