I am looking for some recommendations for GOOD wig shops in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Will begin chemo in 2 weeks and apparently I will lose my hair 3 weeks from then. Thanks.

I went to Classy Ladies (or maybe it's Classy Sisters?)  in Phoenix.  It is around 35th Ave and Greenway.  I was pleased with their service, although I rarely wore my wig.  They had a nice selection of head coverings.  I purchased mine in early 2008, and haven't been since then.  They were not a preferred provider for BCBS, so it was considered out of network for me;  who knew wig shops had in network and out of network?  The things we learn in this journey.

    Good luck with your chemo!

I went to Gee Wigz which is in Ahwatukee.  Nice selection and the owner was very helpful and supportive through the process.  You can even drop off your wig and she will wash and dry it and you pick it back up the next day.

Did you like your chemo doctor? I have been to one but didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling.

My medical oncologist is Dr. Polowy at Desert Oncology which is located next door to Banner Desert Hospital on Dobson and the I-60. I have really liked him - he is young but has been very thorough in explaining options, statistics, test results etc.  Ihave met other women through some of the support groups who also go to him and all have seemed happy with the care.

    Hello azsunn,

I live in the Phoenix area, East Valley, Gilbert.  Moved her last Dec and was diagnosed in June.  I will be going to Mayo in Sept. for mx and reconstructive surgery.  Did I see a posting that you meet with other cancer survivors?  I have DCIS on the right and had a mx 15 years ago on the left due to the same.  I have not had to have chemo and no rad since I am having the mx.  Hope to hear from you.
