Skin Mets

Can some of you with skin mets tell me what they look like, where they can appear, and whether or not they itch?  It's difficult to find any good information on this topic.  Thanks and God bless.

Mine appeared on my breast in Jan. 08 and were biopsied and dx as Paget's Disease. I think they looked like bug bites and yes, they did itch. Then, I had a mastectomy (3/08) and radiation (4/08-5/08)....Then, they appeared on my back, just outside of the rads field. I had rads again along with hypothermia (10/08-11/08).....THEN, they appeared below the rads field on my tummy and on my chest. Very aggressive!!!!!! I was on Abraxane from Dec. '08 until Mar '09. They better be gone for good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am on Doxil & Herceptin now for liver mets.....the saga continues....

After supraclavicular nodes mets surgery skins mets have appeared around the edge of surgery and they first made the skin red and after starting getting bigger and bigger. I was really full with these little things on my left supraclavicular area because I started chemo 2,5 months after surgery! Now I have finished the 3rd round of chemo (herceptin, taxotere and gemzar) and they have disappered from seeing. I don't know if the scan can find anything else because I will have one next week . I will tell you the results. Hugs!

Hi, I am new to this website.  I was diagnosed with very aggressive chest and breast cancer in Dec. 2000, the lab had me at III to IV, had mas in left breast followed with chemo, (Red Devil and I can't remember the other one), no radiation since I had breast reconstruction at the time of the mas. I have these small, itchy red things on the tops of my breasts and now one in the center of my breast. They itch very badly. I am bleeding when I have a bowel movement. I just chalked that up to the constipation. I left NC, husband messing around with my so called best friend, right after my treatments and have not really been tested thoroughly.  I have not been feeling well I am very tired and I just don't want to do anything.  Can you tell me what skin mets are?  I am so sorry that all of you have had to go through this. I lost my mom to spinal cancer which had met to her lungs. Everybody keep fighting and I will be praying for you all. I am scared and I don't know if I can go through treatment again. My doctors' in my small town seem to forget that I have had cancer.  I am thinking about going to Pensacola to my moms' Oncologist. I just want to be healthy to see my daughters' graduation next year. She has been my saving grace and I have not said anything to her. I just need to be strong and healthy. Are there any pictures of the skin met?  Love to all.  Barbara

Hi all, sorry to hear about your dx. I also have skin mets as a recurrence. About 5 docs thought it was nothing - you are right about there not being lots of info out there. About 6 months after I finished treatments (chemo, lupectomy, chemo, rad) I noticed itchy areas on same breast  - over a few months they became more raised red and itchy, increased from 6 to 10 and developed a scar tissue-like appearance. They feel/felt like small lentil beans just under the skin. Mine did not look exactly like the goodgle photo, more under the skin looking and a little bigger. Also, mine did not focus on the lumpectomy scar but gathered around the areola, with some on the edge of the areola being more brownish in color.

I am told it could spread out and it sounds like that is what happened to some of you. I just finished  12 treatments of taxol and 8 included bevacicimab (geneeric avastin). It immediatly made a difference. The bumps significantly reduced. Now I am in the rest period before the mast. and lat flap surgeries.

It takes lots of love and courage to walk this path - I send that to all of you.

(I am not able to get online regularly so am irregular in posting)

Hi ladies, I was recently diagnosed wih skin mets at apperred on my mastectomy scar line.  Mine were not itchy and where just there. I had a biopsy to find they were in fact mets.  I'm currently on Navelbine/Herceptin to clear them up. I've just completed my 6thweekly  round and have 6 more to go before my next scan. I hope and pray this cocktail is the one that does the trick and let's me dance with NED for a long long time.

I had a skin recurrence in three localised places on my skin sparing LD reconstruction.  Mine bore no resemblence at all to the pictures on Google...

The first one was in the area of one of my original tumours (biopsy place).  At first it felt like 2 lentils in the skin.  This hardened on the outside and had the appearance of a cm diameter bruise.  It did not itch.   The second was on/next to the scar line of my missing areola.  This was just a rubber hard raised area about 1.5cm diameter.  No colour and no itches. The third area was just a bit blood shot and again no itches!

I have had itchy bumpy clumps on my scalp for months.  Then they disappeared. Then they reappeared another place on my scalp.  I had the same thing on my lower back for months then it just disappeared. I have tried different soaps and shampoos.  Could this be skin mets?  I have been under a lot of stress so could be nerves.  But generally my back - upper shoulders feels itchy, but no bumps like my scalp.  They come & go......I am taking a lot of supplements from a naturopath as well but don't know if the itch coincided with taking them.

     Thanks,

    Tuckertwo

One on my back feels like a lima bean under the skin, kindof hard, definately more solid than a cyst.  My legs look kindof like sores, some itch and some are just there!  One on my hip feels like a pimple under the skin, but it doesn't hurt at all. I got these before I was diagnosed with bone mets.  Went to a dermatologist and was told it was from untreated strep throat???

First thing onco said, was it looks like your cancer has metastisized!  Biopsy was positive for mets!  Hoping that the tamoxifen will stop them!  Onco wants to start chemo, but other dr says dont be in a hurry to do heavy duty chemo, so I will have other options if it hits my organs.....

This thread has not been posted on since 2010 until you did. Camul has not been to the site since 2013.

If you start a new thread you'll probably get more replies. (Hint - check how old a thread is and if the last poster is still active here.)
