Anyone starting chemo in June 08

Kelly, I have no more wisdom than Leggy. I guess concentrating on the local recurrence is top priority at this point. I will pray for you daily. If you do have surgery and get clean margins you will have the chemo as an extra zapper. I am just so sorry you have to go through this again. I was curious after seeing you already had irradiated breast tissue if radiation was possible. The flap procedure sounds like that will give you a new option also. As for the other suspicious sites, it sounds like they will be watching those. XXXXXOOOO to you....HunkyD.
P.S. Talk here and spill it anytime you like!
-
Ditto!
-
Kellke, I also have no more wisdom than the rest do. I just hate it when I hear someone is having to deal with this horrible disease again. I guess I am lucky I have only had it once and hope it stays that way. I know your husband is only trying to help you with the diet and I guess he is trying his best to figure something out also. Personally I would just eat as I feel fit, I don't believe that is probably a priority on your list right now. I wish I could say something that would help you but unfortunately I can't.
Just think positive and we will all pray for you and keep our fingers crossed that your tests will turn out not to be as bad as they are thinking.
You take special care, and we all are thinking of you and sending lots of XXXXOOOO.

Kelly
I am really sorry you have to endure this whole thing again. I don't really know what to say except we are all here for you and it sounds like the docs are right on this..so that is good. Keep us posted.

Hope everyone is doing OK this week. Tomorrow is Friday and my first whole week of 8 hour days for quite a while. I can tell. Just still don't have all the umph! The wind decided to blow here this afternoon at about 40mph and chance of thunderstorms so I don't know why I needed sunglasses on my avatar. Husband is off to golf on mens league. I wouldn't play out in this weather if my body allowed. I am thinking about you all. Wyoming, hope you were able to get your trts started again. Kelly, as Willie Nelson sings "You are always on my mind" LOL....I know..you are probably too young to know that one. Did your docs say anything about mammosite radiation being a possiblity? Rest of you peeps Leggy, (wolfie?), Karen, and Bonnie....Happy Thursday....HunkyD
-
Kelly, So sorry about the results. Since I have been going through txt again because my cancer mets. I can offer some hope, because so far I'm doing great. But I feel the same way LeggyJ and HunkyD feel---shit, shit, shit, and more shit!!!!! Your txt most likely won't be the same since the first one didn't keep the shit from coming back. My cancer in the lungs was three spots and liver was two spots. All of them have been shrinking with a different txt not as harsh. I also have to eat the carbs but my downfall is the sweets. As long as you are eating healthy have what you want.
I know I rambled but it is hard to think straight when you hear icky news as you well know. Keep talking and venting to us we can take it.

Hunky what is your avatar? It looks like veggies? Is it? And yes I knew Willie back before all the tax issues
I will be 41 this year and used to live in South Dakota too. (air force brat)
I worked my second to last day today. It is strange. I feel fine, I meet with the plastic surgeon tomorrow and then am scheduled for surgery the 13th (excision) and the 17th (flap). Does anyone know about a vacuum dressing machine? They rec that between surgeries but it means I have to stay in the hospital~ boring!
My oldest is back to college tomorrow. I asked if he had everything and he said he was perfect and never forgot anything
Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts, I enjoy reading about what all of you are doing. I really want to camp now that everyone else has been. Mostly for the s'mores!! Kelly
-
Kelly, I am not quite sure what my avatar is. It is some kind of computer chip board if it is blown up. I don't know...it isn't veggies though. Swear to god you do not look 41 years old. I am really hoping your excision goes well. Where are they taking flap from? Back, stomach? I don't know anything about the vacuum dressing machine. Perhaps they are talking about a wound vac....don't know. I am glad you are getting good care, and I know your body is going to need some real healing time to go through all this again. Work should be last thing to worry about, but with your own practice I am sure it's hard to make the step. I will tell you that camping always gives me a sense of peace with the world when I can see a billion stars. Glad your son is going to be covered at college. Kids grow up so fast!!! I love s'mores too, but always get a little anxious with the marshmellows. Wishing you well on the 13th. I am sorry I can't be of any more comfort. Like Wyoming said...shit...shit...shit. We are here my friend! HunkyD

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. DH is working half a day today so I am still lounging and sipping coffee. Watched a movie last night..The Soloist. I put the one you all were talking about Taken in my Netflix queue. I also have The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in there because we haven't seen that yet. The netflix thing has been so nice this last year, although I wish they would start releasing the newer movies to DVD faster. I would like to see Julie and Julia. I think Meryl Streep would be excellent in it. Well, it is 10:00 and I need to get up and around. XXXOOO HunkyDory
-
Hi everyone! Thursday night, I emailed my doctor and told him it's been almost 3 wks. since my x ray, and that I didn't want to wait through the weekend, for the results. Finally when I got home from work, he emailed me and said the preliminary report, shows degenerative arthritis in my hip! The good news, is he said it didn't show cancer. So I'm getting old, after all..I knew that. Hope your taking it easy Kelly and Hunkyd. Off to my movies, I'll tell you all about it. Wyoming and KKing, hope your out having fun. Cheers
-
Leggy, so nice to get the results....uncle arthur beats the alternative. We all are always so grateful to hear results finally. Wolfie is going to keep your bones active. Tamoxifen sure has made me sore in the joints. I don't think that is uncommon I don't know if you are on Tamoxifen or another AI, but they all screw with your bones. We are going to watch another movie tonight called 12 Rounds. I don't think it is a chick flick. DH is waiting for pizza delivery. I cleaned too much today and tired myself out. So funny how this beast really claims a lot of your energy, both physically and emotionally. Later...peeps...HunkyD
-
hunkyD....They said I am in menopause(think thats how to spell it) so they switched me from tamoxifen to arimidex....been on this two weeks so far...I hear this one is bad on the bones.....always something!!
I watched Love you Man last night...my daughter works parttime at Blockbuster so she gets the movies to look at before they are released on the tuesday....I watch them and tell her about them. Also watched the Knowing with Nicholas Cage...I like him.
Today is stormy and humid..they figure humidity is 41 celcius. I think my spelling is sucking. Blame it on the chemo brain. Well next week I work the 5 days 4 hours...should be out to lunch by Friday.
Kelly...hoping everything goes well for you, I noticed you are 41 I am 47, so I assume you are on tamoxifen then.
Leggy...nice to hear your results...getting older does suck.
Wyoming..glad the spots are shrinking until they are no more.
Well, off to see if their is a rainbow after the storm. Enjoy your day. Talk to you in the week.
Karen

Hi girls, I'm still on Tamoxifen, for now. My doctor, said I had to not have any periods for a year, and I had a few before BC. None now, thanks to chemo.
Last night I watched "The Wrestler", it was good and something you can watch, with your men. Sad warning, though. Later.
-
Hi everyone. I had txt Friday and I pretty much slept the weekend. It rained here most of the day yesterday so it was a good day to sleep. Kelly I have never heard of vacuum dressing machine. Lets us know. It reminds me of when I was little and took the vacuum hose to my dog or my cheek.
HunkyD I loved The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I want to see Julie & Julia too.
Karen I have been having trouble spelling also. I use the excuse of chemo brain but I have never been a good speller.
LeggyJ I'm glad you're getting old instead of getting more cancer. I have a few more aches and pains too.
I'm off to get my windshield fixed and hair appt.
Talk to everyone later,
Wyoming

Wyoming...I find sleep has been the most healing thing for me when going through trts and surgery. I know you have gone through more, but am just so happy to hear someone getting a good rest day....especially when you don't feel guilty about it just because of nice weather or something. Your body really does tell you what it needs. Hope your hair appt goes well also. I remember you said your head was tender, and I hope you get a good massage with shampoo and conditioner. I love that part. Karen, you are lucky to get the one step ahead of the crowd dvd releases. I have I Love You Man in my queue, and have seen the Knowing also. Also, let me know how the Arimidex treats you. Currently my onc says two years on my Tamoxifen, then on to AI of some sort. They all have their side effects, but I think the AI drugs might be a little more harsh on the bones. Not sure. Leggy, we also have seen The Wrestler..I thought it was pretty good. Kind of reminded me of Hulk Hogan...don't know why. Guess cause I watched his reality TV show. Good thoughts your way Kelly. I know surgery is coming up for you this week and I will certainly have my fingers crossed for you.
I had my last fill today before my exchange surgery in Oct. It is pretty uncomfortable but don't like to bitch here about reconstruction. We all started this journey together, and I will never forget the support I recieved from all of you! Thanks for being here. HunkyD.
P.S. Bonnie...check in. Miss hearing from you.
-
HunkyD, Even though I just had a couple of lumpectomies, I don't mind if you bitch about recon.
It was 105 degree's here today, and it was tough at work, but my bones didn't hurt so much. Now I know why old folks move out to the desert.
Oh I followed The Wrestler movie with The International (Clive Owen) yummy, much better looking than Hulk Hoogan...
Take care everyone

Hi Everyone,
Yes, I keep reading what everyone has to say but don't seem to get any ambition to write anything myself. Was talking to my GP about the bone scan I had in June and he informed me that I have arthritis in my feet, ankles, and knees, he sounded so matter of fact like I should have known this, maybe I should have but for some reason I have been more concerned about other things in my life. They also want to do another bone scan and there is something on the bone in my right upper leg and my lower back. Not sure how long they need to wait but I guess I will find out when I see my onc. on the 24th as it was him that ordered it.
I feel that this is all so minor compared to you Kelly and everyone else that is having problems.
How does everyone like my picture of my baby, she is an american eskimo named Sasha I have had her for about 7 years. I put her picture up because I have a decent picture of myself but have been having problems trying to put it in my profile.
Anyways better go now and get to bed, hope everyone has a good week and no problems for you all.
Take Care Everyone
Bonnie
-
Bonnie love your baby. Dogs and pets sure help. They give us unconditional love and if yours are like mine they love to sleep with me. Some times I wish they wouldn't as they take up the whole bed and I have a King size bed!
LeggyJ I also had a couple of lumpectomies but I don't care if anyone complains about reconstruction. It has its own set of problems. Since I had 14 nodes taken out my under-arm is numb. Surgeon and onc thought I would get my feeling back but no bananas.
Kelly happy and good thoughts going your way. Know we are thinking of you and sending you positive vibes.
HunkyD my hair appt went pretty good. It helps that I have my niece do my hair. She asked what I wanted and I told her whatever she thought would look good. So I have some red and blonde in my hair. She didn't trim it much because my hair has stalled out.
Karen did you find your rainbow after the storm? It is the small things that count now.
Time to get dinner ready but I don't know what I'm fixing. My Hubby is so easy that he will probable fix a sandwich. I need to tell him thank you more often!!!!
Talk to everyone later.

Bonnie...Love your doggie...I have two dogs...one of them is mix of American Eskimo and beagle...she looks similar to yours but has the beagle colouring. Is your dog very active??
Wyoming... funny, how I do notice all these things more than I ever did and I take it all in.
HunkyD ...you can always bitch here....no problem.
LeggyJ..haven't seen the Wrestler...how was Mickey Rourke in it? 105 ...how do you cope?
Kelly.. thinking about you and hoping all is going well.
Just came back from a walk and there are trees down everywhere. We have had a few wicked storms the last few days....no rainbows though. Sounds like we may have sun here for a couple of days. Actually going golfing on Friday with DH... I am not very good but I love being out there. Talk to you later

Wyoming yes my dog loves to do everything with me that includes sleeping with me and I also have a king size bed, sometimes I think I even need a bigger bed between my dog and husband sometimes I get claustrophobic and need to get out of bed for awhile, but I love them both dearly.
Karen, yes she is reasonably active but just loves to cuddle and be quite with me when I need it.
HunkyD I wish I could get the other picture on here so you could see I have my hair darker now with light streaks and I really like it. I had it done when I was visiting in Alberta. Now I have to find a good hair dresser that can copy it because the cut is so nice it doesn't take a lot of upkeep.
I hope everyone else is doing ok as I must run now, thought I would have more time to write on here, but you all take real good care.
Bonnie
-
Hi Girls,
Funny, when I started Tamoxifen, and got all these hot flashes, my dog stopped sleeping on the bed. Smart boy.
KKing, Micky Rourke was good in the movie The Wrestler. Cooler today, thanks...but I'm DAT
-
I am finally ready for my haircut. Stopped at the local hair place and asked them to fit me in for a hair cut. When I did that I discovered they also do nails so scheduled a pedicure for today. Now I wonder why did I wait so long instead of trying to do everything in one day before surgery?
Lots of allergy issues here, my husband said even the dogs were sneezing! I have itchy eyes and have tried all sorts of allergy meds without success. I have to keep one eye cloesed to read everyone posts but it is worth it to keep up with all of you.
Off to a pre op appt this afternoon then surgery tomorrow. Had to finally tell my parents last night, that was hard. The good news is that both my doc's felt I could still go on my planned vacation and heal while there instead of sitting around here. Keep your fingers crossed that I heal quickly this time too. I am planning to go to Ireland with my mom and daughter. We will be visiting my mothers family.
Have a good week everyone I will check back in a few days. Kelly
-
Good Luck, Kelly! My prayers are with you.
-
Kelly, Good luck and what a great vacation. When will you go? You will have to tell us all about it. I love to travel. Don't you love pedicures? I think I love them more manicures.
I will write more next time. Kelly my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Wyoming
-
Kelly, fingers crossed. I know you will heal fast..my prayers are with you also. Can't wait to hear about itinerary for Ireland. Sweet dreams tomorrow, and no hospital infections! XXXOOO HunkyD
-
Kelly, good luck and I will keep my fingers, toes and anything else I can cross.
Bonnie
-
Kelly
Thinking about you and wishing you well.
Will keep you in my prayers
Karen
-
Hope you are doing OK Kelly. Surgery certainly does you in for a bit. We watched Curious case of Benjamin Button last night. Pretty good show. Tonight we will watch I Love You Man. I just put a pumkin cake in the oven. After it cools I will spread it with fattening cream cheese. I am going to try and stay away from it. It is windy here today so it's a good day to stay in. Looks like husband pulled hamburger out of the freezer to bbque. Not much else new here. Bonnie, I see you have a new avatar. It is hard for me to see, but the avatar size they stick us with is pretty small. Take care everyone, and have a good weekend. Hunkydory
-
Kelly hope you are feeling well and healing.
Bonnie I like your new avatar.
HunkyD pumpkin cake with cream cheese sounds so good. I would have a lot of trouble staying away.
Karen and LeggyJ hope everything is going good for you.
My oldest daughter and I are going to Rapid City SD to do school shopping. I start back to work on the 25th. I'm ready but yet not ready.
Have a good day,
Wyoming
-
Bonnie, now I can see your avatar good. My hair is about the same length as yours. I can see that you have some highlights. Great picture....not that I didn't think Sasha was adorable too....lol. Hope you are doing well. Kelly, still keeping you in my prayers. Wyoming, sorry you have to go back to work so soon. It seems like it hasn't been a long enough vacation for you. Karen, Leggy...hope you are doing well. I came home and got one of the the heat stick on patches out and slapped it on my shoulder. It was sore today at work. Well, better sign off. Going to shuck some fresh corn on the cob. Take care..XOXO HunkyD
