I am very  unhappy that I have to have a re-excision lumpectomy.

I am still in pain from the axillary lymphectomy.

    Dolores,

I am so sorry you have to go through that. I know it stinks. I had to have a rexcision too. It's pretty common, because often they can't tell if they got all of the cancer until the final path report comes back. I just want to encourage you by telling you that the reexcision wasn't anywhere near as painful as the axillary dissection. You will be happy when it is done because you will know all of the cancer is out.

I wasn't happy either, but I sure am now that I know I have clean margins.  More of us than you know have re-excisions.  good luck.

    Hugs...gentle hugs to you.

Re-excision is common..and it is best to get the best margins that you can!!

My re-escision was much less painful then the first surgery that I had.  It healed really well..and I was practicing yoga in a couple of weeks.

    Be strong....

Thank you for your encouragement. My re-excision hurt worst then the first incision. Hopefully I can start Yoga again in a few weeks too.

Yes re-excision is very common.  My margins were too close so my bs recommended going back in to get better margins.  In my case it was DCIS in same area as the IDC which they did not know.  But everything came out as NED.  Better safe than sorry I say.
