Soy tocopherol acitate in my CoQ10, Soybean oil in my Vit E
Should I take my CoQ10 if it has soy as one of the additional ingredients? Should I take my Vit E if it has soybean oil in it?

I was told my my onc to stay away from anything with soy (only those of us that are hormone positive)

Dont quote me but soy lecithin was ok, but soy protein isolate was bad ? buutttt.. I just got a coq10 from costco and found out it has soy so it goes to my mom..

Soybean oil and soy lecithin has to go through processing that leaves pesticides and a component of Drano behind. They can't get it all out. So it's all according to how much Drano we like in our vitamins.

I found a liquid vitamin E at Vitamin Shoppe that has no soy. I take five drops daily. My docs have told me to avoid soy, so I look for all of my vitamins and supplements to be soy free. I will have to double check my CO-Q-10!

There is soy in everything, I was shocked! Mayonnaise, ketchup, even ice cream!
We need a master list of products that are safe for us to eat & use. And flax seed! Half the girls take extra & half avoid it. Confusion is an understatement.

Mayonnaise killed me. It's the first ingredient listed...soybean oil. I'd like to write Hellmann's and ask if they can quarantee there are no pesticides or chemicals in their soybean oil. I want a lab tested quarantee. I won't hear back.
I found dark chocolate at Whole Foods without soy...it's called Equal Exchange. There's no soy in Dreyers frozen fruit bars. Some of them have Splenda, so we have to watch. Pacifica organic almond milk, no soy.
Flaxseed, I'm in the half that thinks it's ok to eat.

I discussed quite a long listwith my onc this week, and really, she advises binning anything with any type of soy in it, so I will. Bloody nuisance - even my Whey Protein, on arefuol checking, contains some soy.
Conclusion : buy shares in soy, it is in a lot of stuff where it doesn'tneed to be.
GSCott : without a dx you won't know if you are oestrogen positive or not, so you can't tell whether it is ok or not. Up to you!

Rosemary44...Thank you for saying this! I would be interested to know if there are many women (like me) who consumed lots of soy products prior to being diagnosed with bc. I was taking soy supplements for menopausal symptoms for a few years prior to bc and eating lots of soy burgers etc., as I thought this was healthy for me.
There is a "SoyOnline" website has tons of information about the dangers of soy. When I was diagnosed, I actually reported it (and my concerns about the soy link) to the FDA via the MedWatch program, which collects and tracks information related to adverse events that may be related to either drugs or supplements. This can be done via the FDA website or by calling the FDA.

I'm one of them. I ate everything soy the year before I was dx'd. I blame it for my tumor becoming invasive. It was caught early but still it was breaking out. Genistein in soy promotes tumor growth.
Soy and our thyroids don't mix either. I'm pretty annoyed that we can't buy anything without soy but in a way they might be doing us a favor. We'll have to eat healthy, how hard is it to make our own ketchup ( I don't know, I never tried), and who needs to be eating mayo anyway?
I'm happy to see you tried to do something by reporting to the govt. I write the companies who add this to our food stuffs. They don't reply.

Soy is all over the place! Not only in foods, but cosmetics, even in an instant hand sanitizer. Just because you aren't eating it doesn't mean it it won't get into your bloodstream. (remember the nicotine patch is absorbed through the skin) If an ingredient isn't called soy on the label, it can be labelled as tocopherol, d-Alpha tocopherol, glycerin tocopheryl, soja, and probably lots of other ingredient names I haven't run across yet.
It's hard enough being a cancer survivor, but I have just been diagnosed with diabetes and I'm finding there are more medications I can't take because they contain soy ingredients. If we can't find a way to have consistency in labeling, what are we supposed to do?

It really TICKS me off that soy is in everything. Since I only take two supplements now (iodine and vitamin D) and make a lot of my own food now from organic ingredients, I don't have to worry about soy any more, but it really upsets me that pretty much everything in a grocery store except for the produce aisle has soy and corn in them (and worse, they are genetically modified unless you buy organic).
BTW, I've always hated mayonnaise, but decided to make my own a few weeks ago (because I wanted to make organic potato salad) based on Sally Fallon's lacto-fermented recipe. I made it with flax oil, pastured egg yolks and other wholesome ingredients... it was a bit thinner than store-bought but SO good and full of enzymes. Honestly, it wasn't much trouble to make it. I've gotten to a point where I would rather make my own things like that and KNOW that it's healthy rather than trusting the store-bought version.

I agree SOY in EVERYTHING. I am amazed. You want to eat healthy, so you make a salad....check your dressing ladies...SOY. You can buy a canola mayonaise that contains no soy. I have been making my own salad dressings with that. 1000 island recipe from scratch, really quite easy and I think the powdered ranch dressing is ok. One of my favorites, altho not healthy, Cheetos
I actually thought if someone started a website with all soy free items might do well!

Goldie, powdered ranch dressing contains MSG... not sure if that is cancer-causing directly, but REALLY bad for you in many ways... you're doing the right thing making your own salad dressings! It's not hard, like you said, and SO much healthier than store-bought!

I have read that CoQ 10 in soy oil is aborbed much better...check out article and see if it gives you the answer you are looking for. www.total-health-magazine.com article 'Is Ubiquinol all it's Cracked Up to Be.' Hope this helps you.

I am 100% ER+, and am taking Anastrozole.
My MO told me to stay away from things like soy milk, but if soy were a small ingredient listed WAY down on the list, it would be o.k. in tiny amounts.
I am on a medically-supervised weight loss plan where the products contain soy protein isolates and soy lecithin. The MO refers almost all her overweight patients to this program, saying the benefits far outweigh the risk.
She's young, energetic, tremendously respected in her field, a diligent researcher, and the Chief of Oncology at the hospital. I trust her judgement.

It seems just about everything has some kind of soy in it these days, and it's totally unecessary. How do we get the vitamin companies to pay attention to this? There are other things that can be used. I called one of the vitamin companies, (that is actually part of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals) about their new Omega 3 soft gel to ask them if there was soy in the product because it did not say anything on the lable, and they said yes. Also soy in vitamins often have other names, so you have to be very careful, it should specifically say NO SOY. A pharmaceutical company producing vitamin supplements, I just hate giving big pharma more of my money!

i too wondered about this so I quit taking it. As to Vit E, I had BIG problems with it, cancer really enjoys it in my body I am ++-
