Has anyone been out of work on long term disability through met life, and they have you apply for social security disability? If that suceeds after being out two years i would be forced to go on medicaid as my primaryand my employer as the secondary.I am not sure i want to go there as my employer plan is really good i can go to any doctor i want drugs are paid for minus 30 bucks.Maybe i should just bite the bullet and go back to work and not mess with my health insurance.I just dont know what social security disability and medicaid is like.

I am thinking that you mean Medicare, not Medicaid. If out on SSDI for 2 yrs, you do get medicare part A for free. Medicare Part B would cost about $96/mo and comes directly out of your SSDI check, IF YOU SIGN UP FOR IT. If you are still listed as an active employee, I believe your employer's insurance is primary. If you only have Medicare A, it doesn't pay for much. Either call Human Resources at your former place of employment or call social security/medicare to figure out primacy.

You need to evaluate the cost of Part B vs what you are paying your employer, if anything, for your insurance. If you decide to use medicare only, then you will need a medigap insurance (which covers the 20% that medicare doesn't pay and possibly some medications) or you would need Part D for meds.
