I've been having pain and a "full" feeling under my arm on mast side for about a week and it is getting worse.  No discernable swelling. The full feeling is in the axillary region.  The pain is actually on my side. Any ideas?

My guess is that it is the muscles tightening up from rads.  My arm, chest, underarm, and back (shoulder blade) hurt a lot lately.  Part of it too, is that I'm starting to get some of my feeling back - it was all just numb before.

Sad news my friends.  I was search for an update on our Bette, and found the following...

My story is that this morning I received a phone call confirm that I have metastatic IBC, Stage IV. Trying to decide what to do next.

Have an appointment with Johns Hopkins onc on Wednesday.

Tom just held me while I cried. He is such a rock during this time. What we are both afraid to say, is that we don't know how much time we will have together.

I am choosing to praise God, and live according to His plan.

I saw this yesterday and honestly I was thinking about it all day and night. Couldn't sleep very well last nite either.  I just don't get it.  How could one have chemo and rads and have this happen so soon.  I just really really HATE this cancer crap.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the prayers while I was waiting. I see that BrandonMom has given you the news that I am now stage IV. We have no idea yet what the treatment plan will be. Have an appointment with the oncologist at Hopkins tomorrow. Will keep in touch.

Bette, I'm so sorry but I can't believe how strong you still are, I would be crushed! I know you are. Well, I'm about an hour away from you. If there is anything I can do to help, please do let me know, it's not that far.

I am so sorry to read this. I am also stunned that this could happen so quckly. I will second what Susan said. Cancer really SUCKS! I am glad that you have so much faith. You will need your faith to get through this. Again, I am so, so sorry. I am sending you a hug from MA.

    Bette,

You are going to the #3 cancer hospital in the nation so you are in good hands. I will continue to pray for you and Tom. I'm not even an hour away if you want to talk.

Bette, just saw this.  I am so sorry for you and Tom to have to go this journey.  I'm tearing up at this blow but will go into prayer and ask the Lord to continue giving you both the strength to fight this beast.

Please continue to call on the Lord.  Follow your docs but know that He is the Great Physician.

    Blessings.

    Colleen,

Just for today. We are home in PA now. I was exhausted when we got hoe and slept for two hours.

The onc at Hopkins gave us a lot of hope, and told me to go home and live my life and not stress out about this too much.

Treatment is not set right now. Possibilities include a trial with PARP inhibitors, Xeloda or Carboplatin. Anyone know anything about these?

Also, my cancer profile has changed. My estrogen receptor is so weak, that he said I am practically triple negative and would not benefit from hormonal therapy.

I have to have a bone scan to check out some pesky achy ribs on my cancer side.

    That is all for tonight.

Bette, continuing to pray for you.  Remember, God is in control and He is not finished with us yet.  I believe He put Tom into your life to be there for you.  He knew what you needed then and He knows what you need now.  You are blessed by an awesome Father who will not leave you.

    Much love.

Feeling energetic today. In process of making homemade peach ice cream. Time for another ice cream party?

We received a phone call from the onc at Hopkins today. He has spoken with the clinical trial coordinator on my behalf. Have to wait for them to contact me. Probably NOT on a Friday.

Marlene, I am doing my best. Most of the time I am strong and upbeat; occasionally I am in tears.

Besides making ice cream today, I soaked my feat in a whirlpool and gave myself a pedicure. Nothing like some pampering to boost the spirits!

Marlene, I had black curly hair before chemo. Now it is lighter and straight, but not gray (yet). I am wondering if I have chemo again and lose it, will it come back still a different way? We shall see.

Restless and cannot sleep this night(actually morning).

The weekend was good, with a visit to Longwood Garden to marvel at the flowers and fountains. Tom also cooked TWO candlelight dinners for us to enjoy.

This week is more medical stuff. Two DR. appointments and a bone scan. Also waiting for the phone to ring about the clinical trial.

Prayers and Hugs to all my BCO sisters.
