Sometimes the only SENSE you can make out of life IS a sense of humor. I believe in friends and in the healing that comes from laughter, and tears, and stories shared. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories with us. I LOVE revisiting this topic and reading the posts. By the way, my friend the remote is currently AWOL again!!! AND I did check the freezer just in case. Smiles--Nancy Lee

HAH! Found it again!! I'm going to the big city tomorrow for my 12 month MUGA scan. I plan to look for an extra remote at the mall just so I have 2 to lose instead of only one. Here's the iffy part of tomorrow's 500 mile round trip--It's supposed to SNOW 8 to 12 inches starting at midnite and keeping up thru tomorrow night. We have 4-wheel drive, but I hate driving in snow storms. I thought this was MAY. I even bought strawberry plants to put out on Mothers' Day because I thought that was a pretty safe date. Well, the skies opened up and we got 3.65 inches of rain on Sunday and it was too chilly to stand outside and plant strawberries. Yesterday I drove up for my Herceptin #26--Half done!! YAY! so I didn't plant them. And today the thermometer didn't get above 37 degrees and it was raining so I stayed in my house and worked from home. BUT it did give me time to do a little searching and bottom line is--I have my remote again not to mention a bunch of nice strawberry plants sitting in my porch. SIGH! I hope everyone had a great Mothers' Day. I got to spend mine with my 80 year old Mom and with the sump pump in her basement pumping out the 3.65 inches that seemed to go right into the ground and directly into Mom's basement. Fun, fun, fun. Smiles--NancyLee

    NancyLee,
    glad you found your remote.
Happy to hear that you're halfway done with your Herceptin.:)Glad to hear that you got to spend time with your mom, but that sump pump didn't sound like much fun.:)
Hope you don't get the snow, have a safe trip.
    Ok, here's another good one.
I went grocery shopping yesterday, and since I shop there regularly the cashier knows me,(lucky for me lol). She also knows that I had bc and have chemo brain.:) We were chatting and she was asking how I was, as she was scanning my groceries. We talked a little then after she was finished scanning, she tells me my total, I remark that it was less than I thought. I then put my wallet back in my purse, take two steps away, then realize my daughter is saying mom, and the cashier has this big grin on her face, I then realize I hadn't paid for my groceries and I was getting ready to leave. lol. I stopped then said gee, I guess you want some money for my groceries, right? She's still grinning, saying, I think a little would be nice.
(This was not the first time I've done this to her) LOL
I did pay for my groceries, the cashier was very nice, she knows about chemo brain because her mom has it. I told her that I was going to wear a tshirt that said "I have chemo brain, did I forget something?" LOL
    Laughter is the best medicine.

    NancyLee,
Glad you found your remote. I have no problem with my remotes, it's my glasses, cordless phones and my husband.
GLASSES: I take my glasses off because I don't need them for close distances, the problem is, I leave them all over, and then not only can't remember where I left them, but I can't see to find them. Very exasperating!!!
CORDLESS PHONES, I have to admit, I just buy more, I have no idea where they are and the batteries are always dead by the time I realize they are gone so the 'find' button never works.
MY HUSBAND: Haven't looked for him, glad he's gone....

    Love you all

Love this thread... And although I can't claim "chemo brain" I have definitely been a few brain cells shy since diagnosis/surgery/radiation.
I'm a special education teacher, and my worst example was losing a student! I work with young adults with moderate-severe developmental disabilities, and one of our goals is for them to learn to access their community independently. One day we had been at McDonald's for lunch, and I didn't notice that I was missing a student until I got back to my classroom... When I went back to get her, she had told the cashier that her teacher had left her, and was waiting calmly while they tried to contact me. I told her that she had done just what she was supposed to do, and "passed the test" with flying colors! Myra

I still can't find my sunglasses, so I finally bought a new pair last night. Now let's see how long I can hold onto these!

Okay--so over the weekend I was in this restaurant sitting in my little corner booth reading a book and watching this guy walk back and forth about twenty times looking in all the booths and along the shelf under the windows. I and everyone else in the booths kinda kept looking at him like WHAT do you want or WHAT the heck are you staring at us for?? Finally, one of the passing waitresses said "Ben, did you forget something?" He says "I think I must have left my sunglasses in here because they're not in my car". She gives him this look like ARE you SERIOUS? Then she kinda laughs and says--"Are you looking for the sunglasses on top of your head?" His hand flew up and he turned every shade of RED in the book. I LOVED it especially when I read your posts about the sunglasses. TEEHEE--Smiles--NancyLee

OKAY so this little 5-year old walks into the daycare on Friday and she's wearing this cute little pair of Pooh Bear sunglasses. I say to her, "Cool shades, Vallie" and she looks at me and says, "Nancy, you have to have sun to have shade and we're inside". Like DUH!! I LOVE kids. You can always count on them to set you straight. Hope you all had eventful weekends!! Smiles--NancyLee

OKAY so now I've lost the key to my post office box and they won't hand the mail to you over the counter anymore if you forget to bring your key. Is anyone else as old as me and can remember when we had a little combination lock on the PO box and we opened it that way? I loved that and was really upset when they took those away and gave us a key which is loseable--Is that a word??--Anyway, if I don't find it pretty soon, they're going to be tired of walking around all my mail in a box on the floor of the post office cuz it won't all fit in that little box and they'll have to give in and hand me my mail. Maybe I don't want to find it because it's probably 90% hospital bills anyway. HMMM! Smiles--NancyLee

Nancylee, Do we have to buy you a bunch of clappers and attach them to all your belongings?
I want my brain back, does it get any better with time?
    Love, Cyn

Cyn, don't think I haven't given the clapper plan some thought. I just wouldn't know what to attach them to becuz I never know what I'm going to "Misplace" next. I don't ever really lose anything--I just misplace it!! Well, except for my mind--It's out there running around someplace and I hope that someone finds it soon and brings it home because it's "much too little" to be running around by itself. Cyn-Here's something really funny. I was telling my friend at daycare today about the clapper idea and she told me that her parents have clapper lights in their house and when her sister laughs the lights go off and on. That might be fun. She said her mom can't clap loud enuf to make the lights work so she has a pair of gloves that she slaps together. I told her that she should just tickle her daughter and save herself some time. Smiles--NancyLee

I THINK it's getting better. I remembered today to call back to my Mom's house and tell her that I forgot to shut her oven off after I made her lunch today. And I was only like 4 miles away when I remembered--that's improvement. Oh, and here's the best part of today. I found my favorite pair of reading glasses this morning. I was trying to print the joke, "The Perfect Dress" from the Humor board cuz I think it's very funny AND my printer was acting goofy like it was eating the paper on the end. I kept picking it up and putting it back in there and it kept jamming. Finally I looked in the paper feed and THERE were my glasses. YAY!! Smiles--NancyLee

Jan--Actually YES I have been wondering if you had reconnected with your shades. Last night I was talking to a friend on the phone and I thought I heard someone knock on the front door. I signed off with her and went out to find that it was great big hail stones hitting my door!!! This morning I found that I have one broken window on the porch, lots of little pieces of shingles all over my sidewalk and yard and my doorbell was lying in pieces all over my front step!! Wow!! When hail comes knocking on your door, look out!! I just feel sorry for my poor little mind out there running around in the hailstorm cuz we all know that I still haven't got that little rascal to come fully back home to me!!! Smiles--NancyLee

    Jan,
LOL I am so glad you found your sunglasses. OMG, you are so funny, I love reading your posts!!

Last week ,my gardian angel I work with, and I decided to share a salad at the little restaurant down the street where we work. I told her I would go down and get it and I actually made it there, remembered what we wanted to order! I brought it back, set it on her desk then got distracted and went to my office and right to work. About a half hour later she walked into my office and said, "uh, Deb? Did you want some salad?" I forgot all about it!! (you'd think I lose weight forgetting to eat!!!)

I'm new here and instead of reading all these posts yet, I'm assuming you all are talking about "chemo brain"? One of my son's previous teachers told me about that the other day.

This has me greatly concerned as I seem not to be the sharpest crayon in the box anyhoo. I'm one of those people with a pretty high IQ, but I'm not sure what good it does me. lol. I just had my first treatment yesterday so I'm afraid I'm in trouble!!

Anyone currently looking for lost items should go to the Humor board and read Pat's post--"And I blamed it on chemo brain". She explains where my remote, your sunglasses, etc. are and how they got there. It's pretty funny. Smiles, NancyLee

You all make me feel a little better. At least I know that I am not alone. My daughter that is seven, had her last day of school last week. They always have something weird for lunch that last week of school. I guess they are getting rid of things in the cupboard. I packed her lunch making sure to have all of the "fun" things she likes. When she got home that day, she asked me why I had put the butter in her lunch. Sure enough, I put the butter dish in her lunch without the lid. She had butter all over everything. She told me I was really crazy but she loved me anyway.

OKAY--so here's the deal. We had a thunderstorm yesterday and I ran home from work and turned off my computer cuz I didn't want it to get zapped by the lightning. When I walked into my house, the TV set was on. Oprah to be exact. I KNOW that I shut it off before I left the house. So I shut it off and went back to work. When I got home at 7 pm, the TV was ON again. Then when I came home this morning to meet with my insurance claims guy, it was on again. This is getting weird. Nobody lives in my house but me and I have no pets who might hit the remote. So all I can figure is that my remote is developing a mind of its own or is going rogue on me. Maybe it finally got tired of me losing it all the time and it has decided to take things into its own hands?? Cathy, thanks for the butter in the lunch story. It's GREAT. Life is good--Smiles--NancyLee

Hi my fellow lifeline friends..... I have 3 quick dumb things to add.
    1. I started playing racquetball again....I needed a new sports bra. I went to Kmart to pick one up and got to looking at the birthday cards for my boyfriends BD. I was almost back home when I realized I had not gotten the bra I went there for
    2. At the gym I figured I would shave my legs for the first time again. I unwrapped a disposable and went to town amazed at how smooth it was going and how I did not even knick myself once! I finally figured out I did not take off the clear plastic safety guard.
    3. I am going to sell my car. I put in big writing on the back window "For Sale - Low Mileage - Automatic - $2,800."
After parking on the street and getting no response I notice I forgot to put my PHONE NUMBER! oh boy

    Hi all.
My daughter had her graduation party last weekend. I told her to remember where I was stashing things. Well, I found her Playstation 2 on the couch in then living room and quickly stashed that and hoped I would remember where I put it because she wasn't here.
The day after the party, I was sitting outside and she comes out and says, "I know this is a stupid question, do you remember where you put my Playstation?" I looked at her and said, 'You have a playstation?????" She shook her head and walked away. I found it in the closet later. Wonder where she got that?

At work I had put all those clear file folder labels in an envelope. My dear co worker asked where they were, and I hadn't a clue. Searched the office for weeks. Finally found them last week.... in my desk drawer.... I could have sworn I looked there... honest!
