Hair care products
Hi, first my apologies if there is already a thread on this but I'm going to ask anyway. What do you folks suggest for hair care products, including shampoo, conditioner, and hair color dye? As you probably know, these products are chock full of petrochemicals and xenoestrogens, as well as being housed in plastic bottles.
Right now I'm using Aubrey Organics products and letting my hair go gray. Especially on the gray hair front, I'd love to hear what you are using.
Thanks!
Melody

Hi Melody,
I use a variety of shampoos, including stuff from Burt's Bees, Aubrey Organics, Beauty Without Cruelty, and Giovanni. I use http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com to check out the various chemicals and see which shampoos seem least toxic and carcinogenic. I don't often use conditioner anymore, but if I did, I'd probably use products from the same companies. My friend has recently started to shampoo with baking soda and to just rinse her hair with white vinegar, as a conditioner. Her hair has been looking absolutely beautiful, and I can attest to the fact that she doesn't smell of vinegar! I often use baking soda in conjunction with shampoo to help keep from getting a buildup of residue (also why I like to use a variety of shampoos!), but I have yet to just try the baking soda, alone. It would definitely be a lot cheaper to go this route than to use the shampoos I've been buying!
As far as hair dye is concerned--I can't comment too much, as I've never colored my hair. However, just for kicks, a couple of years ago my friend and I searched the internet for natural alternatives for hair dying. I remember that, for brown hair that was starting to gray, a tea of equal parts of rosemary and sage was supposed to be beneficial! I just looked again, and found the following page: http://www.online-vitamins-guide.com/dietary-cure/grey-hair.htm. Good luck!

Hi Melody! Like Soapsnug, I use shampoo and conditioner from Burt's Bees and Aubrey Organics. For hair color, I go to our local health food store Mother's Market, they have all vegetable non-toxic hair color, and a lot of henna products which I used back in the late 70's, ha! back to basics! Henna is awesome, it makes hair super shiny and soft, its very messy, so make sure and get prepared and it takes some time (some of my friends even sleep with it on!). Our local Mother's Market also has all natural makeup, including mascara and even nail polish, I spend hours in there!

When Lorraine mentioned henna, it reminded me that a couple of my friends color their hair with a henna product by the company Rainbow. They (both brunettes) have said good things about it. I've seen it in my local health food store, and I know it's free of additives, chemicals, and pesticides.

I have a Mother's Market near my house. Although they sell so called, "natural products", you really need to check this link soapsnug gave.

I was surprised at the stuff I found in a lot of their products they carried.

I decided to go more organic with my food and health/beauty items. I have been researching websites to find the best organic shampoo. What are the best ones that everyone has found?

I use David Babaii's products (Wild Aid) from drugstore.com. Good ingredients compared to most, great on my hair. For coloring I have my hairdresser use "shells" to prevent the dye from contacting my scalp.

I had a problem with the bath cosmetics, that i bought from a hypermarket. I`m from Andorra, and my daughter Maria had an alergy inducted by a bath product. I went from town to town, and no one couldn`t help my little angel
. I was lucky when a dr from Barcelona, Antonio Famagusta discover that the alergy is inducted by a cancer from a cosmetic company. I sue them .. but i-m to small for that mafia. Also Dr Famagusta helped me with Natural Bath Products
Now I'm scared about any food, any cosmetics what should i do ?
