Oh, geez, I don't remember when any of my cancerversaries are. Should I? It's all a blur. I just celebrate ALL of us having that behind us. Yeah! Good riddance to bad rubbish. Toga, toga! is all the time for us.
Kathi, I esp.love the little nip showing. It's a good thing you're not on TV as that is the one thing the networks won't allow. So, you're safe for now. LOL It's all in the venue..........
Marin, no rec for shoes? I am going out today to do a little shopping. Maybe I'll decide to emark upon the diet I've been threatening for months. Perhaps a little Atkins to kick start things. I like their shakes. Or those supermarket ones, can't remember their name.
-
Thank you, Marin! I do value my (in)sanity, which keeps me sane, if that makes any sense!!! LOL\
Tina, dahling, love those cute Keen shoes! Re the prosthesis, can you believe they make them with the little nipple bump??? I LMAO when I saw that, especially because Blue Cross had to shell out $300 for it!!!! BTW, the only reason I remember any of my dates is because they are entered in my cell-phone appointment calendar & on my blog!! Not to mention all the bloody statements I had to get copies of to send off to my secondary insurance!
Girls, I am working on a T-shirt for my blog. Will get back to you on that.
-
Well, there ya go. I don't have a cell phone (not counting that little Tracphone I hardly ever use.) or a blog. I'm really out of it. Sigh.
I had forgotten about that great insurance of yours!
Just came back from shopping. Bought a netgear powerline network adapter to try to boost reception of wifi from one part of the house to the other but, alas, I just plugged it in and it doesn't work for me. Thankfully, it is returnable within 30 days and that's a good thing as it was $100. Does anyone have ideas to help?
-
Sorry to get in on this late but shoes are my addiction.. I also tend to buy shoes when I am stressed (okay even when I am not stressed) I am still looking for the most comfortable shoes in the world for my sucko feet Shamed to admit but in the last 2 weeks I have bought 4 pairs of Tevas (really good sale at Dillards), one pair of uggs espardilles(great clearance at TJ Maxx) and one pair of Danskos(again at Dillards) and a real cushy clog type Ariat shoe. These brands are all proven to me to work excellent with my feet. I really like those Keen basket weave shoes but alas think I better cut myself off the shoe circuit. New Balance is recommended by podiatry cause (I hope I get this right) it has a neutral last and is more apt to have a proper fit on everyone. Another plus is it's wide range of sizes. I am on my feet all day every day and use New Balance. I did read an article that running shoes are the best bet for feet that take a pounding even in some just walking activities. Not all specific style numbers designed for a particular sports are interchangable cause of where your foot first makes contact with the ground. I do have a bit of a fit problem even with them cause of where they have shoe upperlast body support since I have custom orthotics and at times in certain styles I get rubbing and callouses cause of these stupid big old bunions but I still stick to New Balance for work wear cause this is what seems best for me. Anyway I am thinking I probably won"t need another pair of shoes in my lifetime but I bet that doesn't stop me. Do think I might have to investigate those Keens further. I was not thrilled about the way the big black bumper looked in the past but it seems like this shoe has it trimmed down a bit. Off to Zappos dot com.!
-
OMG, I HATE shoes! I know, I know, I am not normal. Some are pretty to look at, but I HATE buying them! I am on my feet in a professional environment and can't wear those cool ones with a suit! So I have to buy these special ones with incredible suppport. They come from Isreal and cost $250+. They are the only ones I can wear without being crippled. I have a black pair and a brown pair.
'm I bad?
-
I love shoes, but they do not like my feet. Have always had problems (bunions) but lately seems worse, they hurt and are tired a lot. Last bone scan mentioned several places on the feet appeared to have degenerative disease (athritis?) have to go look up the fancy medical speak words to confirm...but that might explain it. I guess I should check out some of those suggestions Gracejon. Sigh...my red shoes and fun heels may have to go back in the closet (I had fun getting impractical shoes once I retired and was NOT on my feet all day.)
Barbe- why is it that "they" can't create a good supportive shoe that does not look, well, icky and unattractive?
-
Barbe, I think I have same shoes. The brand I have is Naot. My answer to dress up shoes and strappy little sandals with kitten heels. Pretty comfie and I can stand to have them on for prolonged periods of time. As for arthiritis on bone scan, the rheumatologist I see for arthritis said those light up at the least little bit and not to worry. My last one had feet, toes, knees, hands, wrists, shoulders and entire spine from neck to sacrum. If this was all problematic, I'd be wheeling around in one of those electric scooters The only thing clear was my hips. I do think life after arimidex may be better for joint aches and I have just under a year to go. God bless this doc cause she said that I was too young.
-
Aren't those Naturalizers good supportive shoes? I've noticed lately at Macy's and DSW that they actually had some cute, more moderns styles.
Gracejon, I LOVE Tevas. So comfortable and they last forever. I am still wearing a pair I bought in 1997 - great for at the beach, as you can get them wet and not worry.
-
Naturalizers aren't quite built with the same support as really serious shoes for people like me with WIDE feet.....I hate shoes!
-
My feet were wide when I was a child but now that I'm an oldster they are only medium to a tad wide.
Mainly, I can get away fine with medium width but I cannot wear those pointy toe Italian/fill in the blank jobs. Very bad look and they don't feel too great, either. So, none of those manolos for me.
OTOH, I do covet cute shoes and try to find ones that flatter without trauma. It helps that nothing on my body aches, including my feet. Thank heavens for small favors.
What is everyone hearing about colored jeans? I was just reading an article in the current InStyle and the stylist guy said GREY jeans are the coolest. Really??? Should I be looking for some? He cited www.needsupply.com for some nice ones.
-
I had gray jeans in high school. They were cute, but I think I like the other colors better - gray seems so dull in my opinion. The gray jeans on the website are called "painted on" gray jeans with good reason. My goodness, they are those ultra skinny jeans, which I look terrible in. They call attention to my ultra short legs.
-
Where's Beth? Did she win that contest?
-
Nooooooo, those are not the jeans. OMG, I cannot imagine pouring myself into those!!!
Brand is Cheap Monday. They look normal shape, not poured, dark grey not light. I will search the internet as that site does not list them. Arrrggghhhhhh! Me in those jeans!!!
Have not heard anything about the contest.
Edited to add just found Cheap Monday online. Too tight for me, at least "as shown." How about a good old LLBean in grey? Hey, that's for me. I wish they did them. I also would like some black jeans.
Hey, I read in InStyle that waist-high jeans are coming back. YES!!! Also found this online.

Tina, I kind of like the lower cut/hip hugger jeans, they go to my waist
because I am very short waisted. At first I wasn't sure about the lower cut slacks/jeans but now that I have tried them, they fit good since I have a thick waist anyway I don't have to buy a larger size to fit my waist and worry about not fitting in the hip area.
I am not a shoe freak either, I have 1 or 2 pairs that I wear to work and only a single pair of athletic shoes that I wear out, I use my old athletic shoes to work out in the garden/yard. My back is very sensitive if I wear heals that are too high, so I stick with the lower heeled shoes with extra padding and support in the soles.

wasn't Beth going out west (Colorado?) for a trip
-
Yes, she is going early August. I do know she is working almost all the time now with her new job.
Sheila, thank goodness we have so much to choose from, right? We are not all cut from the same mold!!! Unlike husbands, where we are all married to the same man! LOL
-
What kind of work is Beth doing these days?
-
Hmmmm...well, I pretty much hate shoes too. I mean, I love looking at them and I know exactly what I like and what I want to wear with them. Hey, I even buy lots of shoes...and arrange them nicely in my closet so that I can look at them. But when it comes to wearing shoes, I hate almost everything I put on my feet! You wouldn't know it to look at them, but my feet are so messed up from hi-impact aerobics (back in the day) and spending hundreds of hours in very tight figure skates. Anyway, I DO wear shoes and I DO know about them so, Tina, what do you really want- serious walking sneaks or something that looks nice that you can walk a couple of miles in? I looked on zappos and they have everything ranging from cute little Mary Jane-types to flats to things you see in the gym. I found these especially interesting:
They're called Walking Cradles. that name alone makes me want to order them!
~Marin
-
EW, I'm not sure of her exact title but she is doing some kind of organizational work or something. Why don't you PM her to chat?
Marin! I am a serious walker in that I pound the pavement 2-4 miles, uphill and down, in good weather and bad. I do a 15 minute mile usually. When I walk with my dh, who is not a fast walker, I have to keep criss-crossing the road in front of him so I don't lose him! LOL It looks pretty strange, I'm sure, to passers-by.
I have some off-road all-terrain shoes, so I don't need those. Just something super comfortable and padded for regular walking. Those Walking Cradles are very cute and I'll go check them out but I suspect they are not for hardcore walking. BUT, I'll go see. Thanks for pointing them out.
Walking shoes tend to look so OL, don't you think? Yuk.
-
Tina, I have regular bootcut jeans and trouser jeans in dark gray. I ordered them from Eddie Bauer. Very cute! I am a size 4 (sometimes 6) with very short legs, and don't like those very tight fitted jeans. EB has jeans made for different body shapes (curvy fit, relaxed fit, traditional fit, etc.), plus they come in petite lengths. They're having a big sale right now, if you're interested. -- Amy

Ok my husband goes looking for shoes with support. And the guy points out the rack with the OP shoes. David blanches then realizes he is an OP. Hes 55. Gets a decent walking shoe in brown that doesnt look OP. LOL. But it made him realize that he is an Old Guy.
When do we admit we are old ladies and get the sweater sets with the lace edges and support hose and shoes. Does support arm wear count towards the Old Lady thing. Oh wait, Im not supposed to get to OLD. Im supposed to kick over in my blue jeans and sporty little Walking Cradles. I dont have the actual shoe, I have the walmart knock offs, in red gingham, green dots and blue sneaker.
-
dream, I don't knowabout the sweater set. I'm looking forward to that pointy umbrella for getting everyone the hell out of my way.
Off to visit Eddie Bauer.........
-
Oh, gee, I'm long waisted and "round" so the lower waistline is great for me. Waist high jeans on me is almost up to my bra. I finally found a jean that gives me a tush: Cosmopolitan -they are a tiny bit streach and boot cut. I keep a look out for them but worry they are out of business because I got my first pair at Marshalls for $10 and second pair from ebay for about $15
-
dotti, I thought that short waisted people had short torsos and the regular waistbands reach their boobs and long waisted people had the longer torso and can wear the high waist pants without problems. You and I are a matched set with the round figure and waist bands to our boobs. I never tuck in anything so my body stays proportioned to my legs, otherwise I am literally (visually) all legs.
Sheila
-
HeeHeeHee. Aren't we all funny? I would be a tall person if I didn't have such short legs.
And, get this. Most high-waist pants, including granny panties, don't even reach my waist!
-
tina, If my back were completly straight I would be about 4 inches taller than my current 4 ft 10.5 height and wouldn't have to worry about high waisted pants covering my boobs! My husband picks on me about not riding in the front seat of the car due to the airbag injuries to children under 4 ft ll. And I do try to ride with my seat as far back as possible, but I do need to reach the gas pedal.

Looks like I came back just in the knick of time....
COLORED JEANS???? don't you dare. I will not be friends with you if you wear colored jeans.
Zappos is being bought out by Amazon. I don't like this at all. I think the sale is like 600 million dollars.... My biggest concern is that Amazon will change the way Zappos ships- free and in 24 hours, and free return shipping. It's a huge power play for Amazon, but I hate to see one company really becoming a monopoly. It would be really sad if Zappos great customer service, customer reviews, and shipping policies got changed b/c of a buy out.
Three cheers for Athleta. Yes, it's expensive. And since I've spent a small fortune with them, I can tell you what is worth it vs what isn't worth it.... All of their Yoga pants, and wicking pants are very $$$, and you can get the same pants at Target for half the price.
The swimsuits are good quality and priced the same as most other retail stores...and they have tons of reversible styles which gives you more wear out of them. The rashguards have been a great purchase for me. I kayaked 7 miles with the LI Kayak Club this past weekend, and without the rashgaurd my arms and chest and back would've fried in the sun.
Target has great water shoes, sport flip flops, and fashion flip flops for under $20.
My guilty pleasure as of late is pajamas. I bought the cutest PJ sets, and tossed all my old t-shirts and sweats.
I did grab some great steals from Athleta. They have a sale section on winter stuff. B/C who thinks about sweaters in the summer? So this sweater the was $100 was reduced to $49, and I snatched it up. It looks great on me, and I will be so happy to pull it out in a few months.
I have everything I need for my Vail trip. From my backpack to towels, and everything in between, all I have to do is pack. I leave august 1st.
My sister has been in Greece and Turkey for almost a month, and she got back yesterday. She came over last night, and bought me this great cocktail ring. It's HUGE. I will have to take a picture and upload it. It's a round orange stone with a butterfly on the side... very oversized cocktail ring. Now to find something to wear it with....
I'm trying not to buy clothes at the present time b/c I am on a mission to lose weight. I've dropped 5 pounds, but I've got miles and miles to go before I reach my goal of 40 pounds.I feel pretty motivated to get in shape, and the rewards of the clothes that I will be able to wear is a great incentive.
Kathi-- when can we buy those amazon shirts in purple??? I love love love it!
The contest is still being judged-- should know next week.
-
What, is gray a color??? You New Yawkas are a hoot. Well, I have not purchased a thing. Besides, now I'm in a pout. Why does one fashion expert say one thing and another say another? Not fair and it confuses us.
I discovered the perfect sleep outfit. In coolish weather or winter, I wear cute pj bottoms in brushed cotton, not flannel because they bind up in my flannel sheets, with a ribbed cotton tank in coordinating color. If it is esp. cold, I wear a micro-fleece day top, one with zip tunnel neck, over the tank. And also fuzzy socks until my feet sweat in the middle of the night and I have to rip them off.
Warm weather is panties with the tank top.
Hot weather is, how you say, commando? Is that the right expression?
This is the result of 60 years of scientific research.
That ring sounds like a dilly. We've gotta see it. Didn't know you did orange.
-
I'm not an orange girl really, so finding an outfit to wear it with will be a challenge, but it's so huge and definitely matches my personality.
I'm all about Targets PJ's. I wear tank tops with the cutest draw string pants. I bought a pair the other day, and the hanger and tag said Large... I get home, rip the tag off, and go to pull them on, and I feel like I'm putting on a pair of tights or a girdle. I pull them off, and they are marked small. I have donated them to my sister.
pics of the ring coming.. it's been fun looking at rings! I haven't purchased a fashion ring in forever as to not take away from the "other ring" but now it's like a whole new world of accessories.
-
pill boxes that she got me-- love them!!!
You can see the butterfly on the top of the ring... the sides of the ring are all butterflys...
