Joy, you and me both, I made 40 min on the treadmill today, and that was all she wrote. I'm whipped this week, good thing its Friday

Mary, don't you just hate the phrase noncompliant?  you keep on playing

Meg ~  Good for you!  Now keep it up!  We're watching!

Mary ~ Your explanation of being non-compIiant is what I think I did -- too much rotation using hand weights too soon after rads (didn't know what I was doing), and I'm still suffering from it -- especially if I reach too far backwards. It's such a pain (no pun intended!), isn't it?!

Joy ~ Congrats to your son on making Captain!  You must be so proud of him!  And flip-flopping shifts can be really rough on your body.  Take extra good care of yourself in other ways, if you possibly can!

Kari ~  Have a great weekend with your DDs!

Well, I spent 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the ER again with my son today.  Same problem.  He doesn't have health insurance right now, and they did another Cat$can!  But the pain was so bad, he was close to passing out when we got there.  Just hope it doesn't happen again.  He was reading on-line about some people needing to go in multiple times due to the excruciating pain.

kmmd ~  Good news about your Dad!

Spring ~  Looks like you can't stay away from us! (LOL)  My DH would have a fit if I was on BCO while I was in the car with him!

Have a great weekend, everyone.  And Meg, I'll be watching for an update from you especially!  Deanna

    Lisa,

I haven't been on this thread in awhile and just saw that you may be on TV.  That is fantastic!  If you go on Oprah, I want to be in the audience!  I can't think of anyone else that could better represent exercising through cancer.

BTW, had my exchange on Tuesday and everything went great!

Hey Spring, what happened, your DH kept hitting bumps in the road caused you to post 4 in a row?   LOL!

Joy, I'm in North Brunswick, surrounded by  New Brunswick, South Brunswick and East Brunswick (yeah, NJ has no imagination for names!)

The leg is somewhat better.  Won't have the blood test results until Monday afternoon but planning on starting the aquacize classes again tomorrow morning.

Hope you all have a great weekend. .  Deanna, will keep your son in prayer

Trying out some new running shoes, the others were a disgrace.  Making it kind of fun.  Ran a little then got the yoga in.  Now, running a  care package of food to my parents.  Hope everyone has a great day

I am sorry to report that rather than exercise...I am off to get a massage with a friend! :) (Yay!)

But I will try to squeeze in a walk when I get home with the dog and hopefully the DH. I wanted to do it before I left this morning but we actually slept in a bit which was nice. (Dog usually gets us up at 6:30 and my DH can't go back to sleep...)

    Have a good day ladies!!

Worked am shift today(Sat) and now getting ready to go back to babysit for a guest. A little extra cash will help me out. I go in night shift on sunday. Walked the dog twice and then picked up my food box at the church.  Had bad storms during the night and I slept through them. The tylenol PM works. Looks like more storms for tonight. Everyone have a great Sunday. I'm off work on Mon and Wed this week.

    Hi all,

Deanna hope the boy is doing better

kmmd hope your dad is doing well too.

Glad to hear everyone is getting out there. Have to admit, not doing as much as I would like but I have been very busy the last few days trying to get ready for vacation. We leave Tuesday for Hawaii, never been! Some of you ladies from the warm climates might say, so it is warm here too, but remember I am from Alberta and while we do get warm weather, we have no oceans and our lakes here unfortunately, I don't swim in, they are either too cold or too yucky.

Will try to get out walking with doggy and hubby tonight. Patoo and Meg, while I will be doing lots of walking on vacation, I have no plans to go to the gym, can you ladies do my workouts for me! That is my motivation for you.

Lisa don't do that tv show until I get back! Don't want to miss it.

    Huge hugs to all.

Kari, 2 more sleeps!!! I am going to try to get the same picture you sent me to send back to you.

    Gotta go pack, later.

Penny, thanks for asking, he's doing better and we just got him home.  Path was good news with negative margns and no lymph node spread.  We're all tired but celebrating.

Tired enough working out sounds like a struggle today, but heck, sometimes isnt' that when it counts the most?

Hope everyone has a great day

kmmd - YEAH to the good news for your dad!  That's so wonderful to hear!

Penny, I am sooooooo excited!! 2 more sleeps and then off to paradise, tropical breezes and stress that just melts away!!  I'm looking forward to that picture too!!

Well everyone the weekend with the DD's didn't pan out.  I had called my younger DD an hour before she was to board the train and she didn't sound good.  She said she woke up with a fever and didn't feel well, but that she took some Dayquil and felt a little better.  Well...she went to the train station (her roommate dropped her off) and she didn't feel good and she passed out!  She had just called her roomie right before and said 'turn around and come back'.  I was scared because I had just gotten back to work and kept missing calls from her and when I would call back, no answer.  Finally her roomie answered and said "tiff passed out and her eyes are rolled back in her head and I'm freaking out"...My heart rate went sky hight!!  Then she told me Tiffany woke up and threw up and everyone was around her and they called 911.  Oh dear....the fire dept. came and took her vitals and they checked out, they told her to go the hospital, but like Deanna's DS, she has no medical ins.  I told her it sounded like the flu and to go straight home to bed with some other directions.  Then got both DDs on a conf. call and my older DD scared her sister with Swine flu talk!  I was so bummed out, I mean it took the wind right out of my sails!!!!!!!!!!  I ended up not eating my lunch and had to stay there and finish work.  Anyway, DH and I ended up going to Lake Tahoe again yesterday and had a nice time.  I kept calling younger DD and checking on her and she was getting a lot of sleep and kept taking cool showers.  Fever finally broke!  Older DD had a mexican fiesta at her house with her friends so we let them have fun on their own.  Called both DDs earlier and younger DD is all better, it was the flu after all and has passed.  Thank goodness so Swine flu!!!!!!

I looked forward to reading this thread, as it always puts a smile on my face.  What a great group!

Its 108 outside with 114degree heat index so we took our walk this a.m. at the lake, I'm sweating away right now!!!!!!

    Hi ladies!

Wow, did I ever have a great vacation! The get-away was just what I needed, the grandbabies were exactly what I needed to turn the corner. Their sweet innocence is beautiful & filled my heart with love so much I was bursting & still am.

My DD is so motivating with her exercising. We walked & walked, her running & me power-walking pushing a double stroller with two kids up & down long hills. Whew, was I sweating! She let me try out her Nordic Track & on the way home I said I was going to look for one at yard sales & lo & behold, the day after I got back home, I found one for $75. Made room in the basement & it's all set to go first thing tomorrow morning.

Welcome to all the new gals! You will love this very motivating site.

Penny~Have a fabulous time on your vacation! Lucky you!! Dig your toes in the sand for me. LOL

Spring~Enjoy your vacation & I'm so happy for you on your 1-year anniversary!

Kari~Your Oregon trip sounded so refreshing. Also, congrats to you on your 1-year as well. May you & Spring have many more, as I wish that for us all. Glad to hear your DD is better as well.

Mandy~A trip to Paris/London. Wow! Our world traveling sister. A year for you as well. Mine is November, seems so far yet so near...

kmmd~So glad to hear your Dad's on the road to recovery. That is so wonderful.

Deanna~Hope your son is better. My DH had a kidney stone, he had never been in so much pain, it was hard to see that. He had to have surgery. And, when it is our child, it's even worse.

I read everything to get caught up but, I'm sure I probably missed someone. I'm happy to be home & have a renewed sense of energy. I realized that I do have a very lot to live for & am planning to stay invigorated & motivated by all you lovely gals.

    Love to all,

    Valerie

Kari, thanks, so sorry weekend with DD's didn't work out.  Happy your youngest is doing better.  She really wanted to see you poor thing if she was pushing ahead while feeling that poorly.  MY DS has not been able to get away to see us he has been so busy at work this summer.  I can't take time off after taking so much this past year for the chemo, surgery etc.  Bums me out.

Penny, have fun on your trip

Valerie, I'm with you, nothing better then spending time with little ones.

If I missed anyone I'm sorry.

Well, I didn't do as well last week as I wanted to.  Too much running back and forth to the hospital, but I got at least 30 min in every day.    I'll let myself have one bad week but not two.  So, need to finish this coffee and get on the treadmill for a little before work.  That way a walk tonight and some lifting will sound easier to do.  They're predicting a week of storms here this week.  It has been a cold grey wet summer here. Sucks, I was ready for sun and warmth after hibernating through the chemo winter.  So, better get a good day in today and looks like lots of in house treadmill and yoga this week.

Glad to see everyone is staying motivated. Kmmd, I am with you on the lousy summer weather. You CA girls need to send us some of that heat. I am sleeping in my flannels! I guess I can feel good about the money I have saved by not needing any AC.

Val-so glad you had a great trip. Sounds like it was just the motivation you needed! Sometimes a little kick start is all we need to get the engine roaring. Keep it up!

Kari-You seem to have had a lot of setbacks around you lately. I am sending you some good vibes that it will be smooth sailing from here on out. Enough is enough!

Penny-have a great time in Hawaii. It will be nice to get warm for a change. I have never been there, but would love to walk along those beaches someday. I am so jealous of you who can do that all the time. Lake Michigan has a beautiful beach, but it has been so cold this summer, it might as well be winter!

I took a 6 mile hike this week around Lake Geneva with my girlfriend and never even worked up a sweat because it was so darn cold.

Send some heat! Me and my tomatoes need it!

Val ~  Welcome back, and so glad you're enjoying those precious grandbabies!

Kari ~  What a scare you had with your DD!  Soooo relieved to hear she's better!

kmmd ~  Great news about your Dad!  Tell him we're standing by for updates.

Between the heat and DS's problem, I only walked a total of 11.36 miles last week (3 days).  But, the funny thing is, I've felt a lot better -- much less fluid retention and swelling in my hands and on my side.  A couple of gals on another thread warned me that I'm developing LE -- subclinical at this point, but not to be ignored.  Not walking as much in the heat last week and feeling better as a result of it (as I did the few days I was out of town and didn't walk), kind of bears that out.  I just did 2.4 miles this a.m., and am committed to swimming and/or hitting the mall for some additional steps later in the day.  DS is okay, but keeping a very low profile, which is totally unlike him.  Luckily, he has an adorable new GF who has been at his side to ease the boredom.

Make it a great week, everyone!    Deanna

    Hi All,

This will probably be my last post for a bit, not that I am counting but 1 more sleep.

kmmd-good to hear your dad is doing well. Make sure you get enough rest though, going back and forth to hospitals is exhausting.

Deanna- just make sure that boy of yours drinks lots of water, keep those kids flushed.

Val, good to hear from you,  glad to hear you had a good time with those grandbabies.

Kari, take her cool, you have had lots going on too.

Spring, Vivre,Joy, Allie, Meg,Lisa, and of course how could I forget our little Patoo, you all keep really motivated as you are all doing so well, we all are aren't we. We have really good days and a couple not so good, but we will consider those our down days! Again, Lisa, if you end up taping that show while I am gone, someone get me a copy!

Will miss all of you, but think I am ready for a Ca holiday. Will think of you all when we walk!

    Aloha!

Lisa - what is the word? I just finished doing the abs, buns and thighs workout that I have with Betro. I'm trying the beginners workout and still have two left feet but I am getting some of the moves. Love the beat!! Oprah will show more and talk about the workout and give you more air time. GMA will give you a spot but I like Robin Roberts and watched her go through her cancer and was moved by her. Either one or both just let us know which one so we can watch and be more impressed. And let me know ahead of time so I can tape it while I'm at work.

I have done the abs workout and trying to do at least one more thing every day. And I actually have the ac cut off today. Rainy but a little bit cooler. (80) Gives my electric bill a break.  Back to the heat tomorrow.

Spring - what is it like in Raleigh?

My DS will be down here in ten days. Can't wait to see him. Hopefully we can grab dinner the first night he is down here. Fishing tournament starts on Friday and he will be leaving on Sunday morning again. He will fish from 5 am till after 5 pm and then have to clean the boat and get it ready for the next day. His job is very demanding.

Everyone have a great day. Joy

Hi cuties!  Was depressed earlier, but feeling normal again.  Had lunch with another bc sister survivor and that did the trick.  I just tried posting but my new computer here at work didn't let me so I'll keep this brief -

Val - what a wonderful time you had with your DD and grandbabies, your DD sounds like a great motivator!!

kmmd and Vivre - come on out west!!  sounds like you would enjoy the heat!!

Deanna, interesting about the swelling and heat connection.  Let us know how it goes with the swimming/mall walking.

Joy, I know you will enjoy your DS's visit!!  Its great to have that to look forward to.

Spring, I hope you're enjoying your vaca!!

I have not been as active as at home, but today we went to a theme park (Six Flags) so there was a lot of walking! I am trying to be careful about what I eat,  but not as successful as home... However, good to see family !!

Glad to see everybody is staying motivated!!

    Good Fabulous Morning!

Just popping in before I'm off to Zumba.  It's been another busy week so computer time is limited, unless I'm working.

Spring glad you made it...be sure to have FUN!

Kari, sorry about the scare with your daughter!

Penny have a fabulous time in Hawaii!!!!  And send some heat and sunshine our way.  I'm so over this lousy weather.  We have used our pool once and today it is raining AGAIN!

Joy, still now word.  We really won't know anything until after they tape the event next week.  Once they tape the event on the 31st, then they will present it to both O and GMA for final review.  But I'll keep you all posted.

I'm glad everybody seems to be staying motivated!  I'm off to Zumba and then I have to work on new choreography and then another sandals and sangria party tonight!

    Make it a great day!

Spring, glad you are safe and having some fun!!  It is hard to eat well on the road isn't it?  I have a hard time as well.  Just do the best you can and don't 'trip' on it too much, at least I tell myself that, but I still 'trip'!  LOL!  I was just thinking how fun it would be to go to a theme park again!

Lisa, I want to live by you!!!!  Not for the rain part but for all your zumba and other parties!!

Well thanks to you ladies, I went straight to the mall after work and walked til I was pooped.  It sure is different in the mall after work as opposed to lunch hour.  Waaay less people at lunch time and a lot of teens after work.  They are probably still in bed at lunch hour! LOL, but I managed to walk fast and not 'take anybody out'!!  Then hit Costco, then home, it was late when I got home and luckily had a salad I had made beforehand, so that was dinner.  Today will walk at the mall at lunch and have to leave early for the dentist, but the icing on the cake is a 90 min. massage tonight!  YIPPEE!!!!  Its my last one from the series my coworkers bought for me at the end of chemo!  What a lucky girl I am!

Have a great day and stay fabulous as Lisa says! Cool

Oh Miss Kari!! a 90 min massage!!! how WONDERFUL!! And you deserve it with all your walking!!! Good for you!! I keep thinking during exercise that I am metabolizing estrogen and glucose (sugar) out of my body and how good it is at creating an "inhospitable environment" to cancer.

It's a rainy chilly sort of day in the North East today... if it stops drizzeling DH and I will take a walk. I know later in the day my SIS wants to see the new Harry Potter movie... not much exercise there!! It looks like it will be raining and thundering all the rest of the week!

Spring, I love that!  Imagining exercising metabolizing estrogen and sugar and creating an inhospitable environment!!  When I left the mall last night I was drenched with sweat.  After leaving the cool mall and being blasted with triple digit heat, that did the trick!  Enjoy the movie, maybe you can do butt squeezes or something while watching! Surprised

For the first time in over 7 days we will not be in the triple digits today at least, upper 90's!!

I can't believe you girls are getting chilly and rainy days!  That really sucks!!  Here's hoping for clearing skies and sunshine for you gals you need it!!

Vivre, I wanted to thank you for the good vibes yesterday, I needed them and it helped me out of my funk!
