LGBT people and allies, we've become awfully quiet lately. How is everyone doing?

I'm doing pretty well, thinking about making some life changes. I have a busy couple weeks coming up which I'm looking forward to.

Im doing good.  I just had my 2nd 3 month check up and everything looked good. I am still being expanded and it hurts like hell tonight, just had one today.  I am going to take drugs and then go to sleep.  I hope everyone is well.

Cancer wise I'm doing well! I finally got my kitten home after 2 weeks in the SPCA clinic and I'm afraid I'm going to have to bring him back because he's still not eating on his own (but does ok with "force feeding"- not enough to substain him). I just got him home yesterday, The vet thought he'd do better eating in his own environment and I'm to bring him back if he doesn't eat. I noticed some drool yesterday which is a bad sign, :(.

I had to bring Monkey back to be checked, and they sent me home with an IV bag-- I had to give him IV fluids 2x a day, plus a new medication until he started eating. Yesterday he began eating from my finger tips and today he started eating from a bowl. I am soooo happy and relieved. He's barely sneezing now, but I'm finishing up the antibiotics for sure!

I've been volunteering at OUt With Cancer, the LGBT cancer group at http://www.lgbtcancer.org   It's really great to be connected with our community.

    Hi LostinBronx,

We're here, I know we're pretty queer and I think others have gotten use to it. I hope you are still not lonely in the UK. If you come to New England you would get jumped on in a good way! (Did I just say that?) The accent alone, if I had your accent, I could rule the world ;) Thank you for the info and to be caring enough to share the info. I am always trying to connect with people I can relate with, heck friendly people in general, they don't have to be gay or have cancer, and no, it is not easy to find people that will even take time to get to know you, cancer surviivors included, but it's just the way of the world. It's a dog eat dog world out there. Thanks for the info and hello to all. You've found a welcoming place just keep in mind it's still a public forum.

I didn't know until today that this forum exists for "family" - I am very pleased to see  that there's a special spot here for us - yay!

I was diagnosed on April Fools Day, had a bilateral mastectomy on Cinco De Mayo. What a way to celebrate holidays, eh? My chemo (4 rounds of AC every 2 weeks and then 4 rounds of Taxol every two weeks) starts on July 7th. I deliberately scheduled it to start after the first vacation I've had in over a decade and am writing this from New Mexico (I live in Ohio). After a week at home I'll be heading to Chicago for 5 days to attend a huge women's chorus festival which should be grand fun. Then I'll come home, go to work one day, and then start chemo.

I had expanders put in when I had the mastectomy but could not tolerate them and three weeks later had them taken out. I got my first set of foobs from the local mastectomy shop but am finding that I mostly don't wear them and just go flat. I think people think I am a man because I am very tall (6'2") and have short hair and no chest... and it doesn't bother me.

My gf is very supportive. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate her support.

I can't wait to read all the posts in this forum!

    JJ
