Please help, some support needed!
Dear ladies,
I was desperately hoping to get some support. I posted a while ago because of breast pain and have been back and forth to the doctors umpteen times in four months.
Up until now, it's just been pain (burning nipple and breast, aching and stabbing pains), but now I have the pink marks and a bit of a lump on my nipple. Not really a lump, but a raised area. My skin is still soft and the breast is not hard or swollen. No peau d'orange *yet*.
I'm having a day that I'm sure you all have had. I'm extremely stressed and panicking at the moment. I have a 3 year old and 7 month old daughter and I can't bear the thought of getting sick and potentially leaving them.
I have an ultrasound appointment this afternoon (which I know is useless) and then a breast specialist appointment in 4 days.
My GP seemed concerned but said she still thinks that it's a low-grade yeast infection or a reaction to an extremely bad cracked nipple I had months ago (I'm breastfeeding atm). She predicted that if I wean cold turkey from today, don't be surprised if the symptoms clear up. But all the symptoms can't *just* be a breastfeeding issue. I've had two episodes over the last month, where my breast swelled up for the day and I could feel blocked ducts and once I pumped and fed, it went down before I went to bed. Last night was the second one, but whilst it was swollen, the redness appeared. Now my breast has gone back down again and is soft, but the redness is still there and the pink part around the nipple is a bit swollen.
I know you can't assure me it's nothing but I was hoping for some messages of support to get me through. Sorry for the ranting but I'm petrified.
Bless you all,
Mich.

Gentle hugs, mich...Sorry you are going through this ......I know when I was breatfeeding lo those many years ago I had a similar problem with one of my breasts......I hope it is only clogged ducts and an infection and nothing more for you.........We are all here for you, Mich, and wish nothing but the best for you.........

Thanks so mych hollyann. I'm still pretty scared. I had an ultrasound this afternoon and they could see nothing wrong, but that doesn't give me much comfort. It's going to be a long whole 4 days wait (so silly I know) until I get a biopsy. Then another interminable wait to get the results.
I'm also mourning that I must finish breastfeeding, although I thought perhaps I could still feed from the right side only until I get confirmation as to what this is.
Your support is invaluable as my family mean well, but they think saying "It'll be nothing, just be patient" will make me feel better, when in fact it makes me feel much worse, as if they're minimising the situation.
Thanks!
Mich.

Miss Mich ---- so so sorry for all you are going thru! You are doing all the right things by following up and testing, I know its not easy. I won't say "don't worry" because that won't happen. I will say remember to take a big breathe, take it one day at a time (or 1/2 an hour at a time if that works), hug your cuties and dh. Know that we are here- with hugs, prayers, good thoughts and shoulders to lean on when you need; come here to talk, vent, cry, laugh, ask...what ever you need.
