    It's awful that so many of us are experiencing sleep deprivation on top of all the other problems we have to deal with!  Like so many of you all, I have the issue with hotflashes/ nightsweats/ chills.  Crazy~my poor body doesn't know what to do.  Thank God for remote controlled fans ;)   I saw where someone recommended a Chillow Pillow.  Who has tried this and has it helped?   I too cut back on caff & sugar, but it hasn't helped me too much.  Does anyone use herbal tea?  If so, does it help?  As for the melatonin, do you get this at the healthfood store?  Did your doc recommend it?
    Praying you all have a very peaceful and most of all, restful night  {{{{ }}}}}

    karen...Yes.. this sleep issue is truly not fair. We need this more than anything to rebuild and restore from all that we have been thru.Herbal teas will help, i do chamonille tea by Sleep Time and it is relaxing. :You can also get Melatonin at thte health food store. Persoanlly i got the Timed Release type ,3 mg. I tried stoppin any sugar after 6PM.. maybe it works,. not sure yet? Steppin up my excercise and it kind of helps this week so far.

    I am still awaking at 1:00 and wide awake. Feel some flashing also. Are there any here that do hormone therapy for menopause symptoms. Wondering if this will be safe to do as i am triple negative. So confused on what is safe and not safe to do??

    GOOD Sleeping Wishes being sent,

    Donna

    Donna, I am also triple negative  I do know what you mean about safety issues.  Everytime I think something is ok to take, ther will be a conflicting opinion about it in the medical field.  At this point, who knows?  I am going to buy the tea and try that.

    I took Effexor for about 1 year.  I think it is a good drug.  It did seem to help to minimize the # of flashes, but honestly I think Effexor had a lot to do with my weight gain.  I know it never helped me to sleep by relaxing me either & I still had flashes through the night.   I forgot to get it filled and just decided to stop it completely.  I did something very stupid--I quit taking it cold turkey! If you do try Effexor, just know up front that it is a drug that you have to taper off and there are SIGNIFICANT side effects if and when you do decide to quit taking it.  PLEASE do not do what I did.  It was the worst withdrawals I could imagine.

    kayree... Why does everything have to be so difficutl to figure out what to do!!!I Last night again, wide awake around 1AM for a good amount of time!!! IF i don;t take a Lorazapam, i do not sleep all night. I do not take it all the time as it gets me into a high alert if i  do it for a long period of time!!!

    I need to see what is goin on wiith my hormones as i think that is our issue at nigjht. Now if we are menopausal or post.. being triple negative, is it safe to consider any hormone therapy???  just think it would help overall.. andnot sure why i cannot get this off my mind. I am flashing at night and just get cranky during the day and comes out of no where. WHAT is safe i think will never be understood!!!

    I take Lunesta all the time since this started, not sleeping is the last thing I could deal with. When I take it I sleep for 7 to 8 hours a night.  I'm on the Effexor as well, it's helped with the night flashing some.  The further I get from chemo, the less I have the flashes in the middle of the night.  And my husband put a window unit air conditioner in our bedroom (in addition to our central air), so that I can keep the room really cold.  I was having more hot flashes last week, I think because of the radiation I started on Monday.  On Thursday and Friday my boob was radiating heat.  I'm relieved that it's not so hot today (both my boob's internal temperature and the weather!

    We are not allowed any hormone therapy at all - even tho we're all negative - not even black cohosh or other herbs that are supposed to help with the flashes.  If they actually help the flashes, they're hormonal.  Chemopause SUCKS.

    kelly..YES,, thnaks for the chemopause info.. i had NO idea that is why i am getting the hotflashes!!!!! never had it before the chemo and GLAD to know this will pass in time.!!Nights are tough!!AND good to know about the triple negative into and no hormones allowed.. Well good to meet another triple negative person here and together we can scream! Wishing you all the best with the radiation treatments.

    Maybe i should look into the Lunesta as I am not good with Ambien AT ALL.Would like one full night without waking up!!!

    Thanks for the good info Kelly!
