anyone else on the avastin trial?
so i know i am not supposed to know if i am getting the avastin or not since it is a blind study but from all the side effects it is pretty clear that yes i am getting avastin and no it does not like me. i would love to know if anyone else is on this trial and how they are doing. so far for me i have had high blood pressure, neuropathy and general skin problems, and a horrible taste in my mouth. i had an echocardogram recently that ended up with me having a hematoma- who else would have an echocardogram injury but me. my oncologist believes it was caused by the avastin making my skin so sensitive, she and the three other doctors i have seen have never seen and echo injury before. i am scheduled to have my fifth avastin treatment when i go in for chemo this thursday and am not sure if i can go through with it, i might have to drop out of the study. i can't decide what scares me more having the avastin or not having it.

Hi there. Are you doing trial E5103? If so there is a discussion in the board"help me through treatment" and then look for clinical trial E5103. I did this trial. I had a horrible time with my sinus's due to Avastin. The neuropathy doesnt sound like something caused by Avastin. Are you doing Taxol? It will most definitely cause it. I also had skin issues caused by the A/C and then Taxol caused another skin issue for me too. High blood pressure is definitely something that Avastin can cause, but its treatable with meds.
If you have any questions concerning the trial please pm me or email me at sftfemme65@yahoo.com

I too am on the avastin trial. The only side effect I have had so far that they say could be caused by avastin is diarrhea. I have only had one treatment so far. Wednesday will be my second.

I have agreed to participate in the Avastin trial but am beginning to worry a lot. I'm concerned about the additional side effects, especially heart complications. I'm set to start TCH in a week.
My family wants me to back out of the trial. I am so confused.
