Yup, rode straight through treatment. Got on my horse about 2 weeks after my lump/ax dissection, rode as much as possible during chemo and then was back on again a couple of weeks after the mastectomy. After my ordeal she had her own - badly sprained suspensory and so we did lots of hand-walks together. Healed up well but now she's got a mysterious lameness. She's been out of work for about a year and one of these days i'll jog her out to see how she looks, maybe get on her. She's absolutely enjoying her retirement tho out with a friend eating grass all day.

And, honestly, I got a lot more chicken after my treatment. No one likes to fall but it made me more paranoid about falling. When my horse pulled her suspensory I rode other horses but I pretty much stopped jumping. Now, I haven't ridden since last fall. I miss it sometimes but am kind of surprized at how much I don't miss it - riding having been the biggest part of my life for a good part of my life and really big for the past 20 riding at least one horse a day, competing, a little teaching.

Good luck with all that is to come with your treatment. Even if you don't feel up to riding much it's just so nice to nuzzle with a furry neck when you don't feel good.
