new hot flashes=thyroid
Have been adjusting my synthroid and lately began hot flashes, night sweats and diarrhea. Good ole Google says: hyperthyroid. Guess my pcp will have to readjust the meds next week.
Thought, for sure, I was thru with the dang things! Even stopped tamox early due to quality of life issues with flashes! And I know very well I'm too old for that crap. Almost 66.
at least I've found something causing them. LOL

Hi Dotti,
I understand all to well that the thyroid can give you hot flashes and diarrhea and on the other side, chills and constipation. So let your pcp adjust away.
I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Shirley

Dotti, that is the pits. I know that synthroid is hard to get just right and when the thyroid is off at all it affects everything. The trial and error must be so frustrating.
-
Hugs Dotti I too am on synthroid but for hypothyroidism.......Did you see the thread for Thyroid problems and breast cancer?......It is a great thread........By the way, you look so young in your picture!.....
-
IInteresting. I, too, am just starting Synthroid. My 3 month TSH is lower than where I started but certainly well within the normal range (as in, not hypERthyroid). But, my hot flashes have definately worsened....

I'm hypOthyroid and you're right, getting the dose regulated is a booger.
I've always been very low normal (even in my 20's) and not until I got this pcp, was it addressed as being as concerned as I was. His opinion is that if it's that close to low normal, it's working the thyroid too hard and meds are indicated to get a good balance.
I'll be sure to ck out the thread anyway. Appreciate the info.
I will have to be honest and tell you that that pic is a few years old. but, except for extra weight, I still look a lot like that. LOL--fat pushes out the wrinkles!
Sure wished the synthroid would take off some of these pounds that I gained after diagnosis. But I understand it doesn't do that for everyone.

I was diagnosed with hypOthyroid 12 years ago. Had a terrible time with synthroid for two years while they tried to adjust dosage. Then I switched to Armour Thyroid and the difference was incredible. No more hot flashes and nausea.

I'll ask my doc about that. I take the generic synthroid for now.
