Tai Chi, Qigong & Meditation
Just wondering if anyone is practicing any of these methods to help release their stress or just to center themselves?
I am new to yoga and have no routine in place, but I would like to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction, especially when it comes to finding a quiet place in the house.
I saw this website which has video of each qigong movement:

I am practicing Tai Chi in the morning, best in your backyard. In the afternoon after work I go to a lake, practice Guo Lin Qi Gong for about an hour, walking along the lake with my two hands swinging like an idiot. I was told Guo Lin Qi Gong is best for cancer patients, do it everyday, best in the morning in a place with a lot of water and trees, so the air is more fresh.
If you live in San Francisco, If you go to the Godengate bridge park on weekend mornings, you will see some people practice Guo Ling Qi Gong, You can tell by some people walking like idiots and practicing in a group.
If you live in Torento, you can go to Huntington Park in weekend morning, there is a group walking there too.
I live in NJ Morris county, so far I am the only one walking along the lake like a idiot but I feel good. Hahaha..................

HI. I love qigong. My previous medical condition prevents me from practicing Yoga. So, About a year and a half ago I discovered qigong and went all out for it and stocked up on loads of videos. The 5 animals, the 5 elements, the white crane, Spring Forest Qigong, Ken Cohen, Gary Gallipoli... The one I really like and is fast and simple to do is the silk brocade. That is my daily practice. I just started getting into Tai chi and also bought a bunch of vidoes. It is a little harder to learn but right now I am fascinated by the Tai chi fan. That looks really cool. I downloaded the directions for Guo Ling qigong. and as soon as the weather is good, I will begin to practice that too. There is tons of qigong resources on the web. Just type in google "qigong," and you can print out loads of stuff!

This is fascinating, is this some thing that can be learned from a dvd, or better to learn from instructor? I have learned to really enjoy mediation/quiet time and would like some physical "meditation. Yoga and Tai Chi are not working well for me because of physical limitations.

My doctor at Sloan Kettering recommended I have accupuncture for hand neuropathy post chemo and radiation and for hot flashes from Tamoxifen. It's helping. She also suggested meditation and breathing techniques. I was doing yoga before dx and am now back again. It has done wonders for range of motion in the are where nodes were removed. The stretching is great! The breathing and meditations really helps with stress. I would highly recommend all of these. I go to a yoga studio near my home.

My chiroprator also does acunpuncture. When I was going through chemo, Dr. Melissa did the acupuncture right after the chemo. I wasn't nauseated with chemo. I have had a mastectomy and 6 lymphy nodes taken out. What does your doctor say about acupuncture and lymphedema? I went for an adjustment last week and she (Dr. Melissa) said I needed a massage. I wonder how this works too, with the arm. Thanks. Debbie

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is another very large Qigong gathering here in Orlando May 22-25. This workshop is $99 for 4 days of immersion into the healing benefits of Qigong. There are no pre-requisites of any kind for this workshop, you do not need to have any prio knowledge of Qigong whatsoever
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me at jocelyn@qigong.com.
