    Thanks Deanna!

All, I came across this to remind us all about the goodness of Raspberries!

    Why eat Raspberries?

    1. Are a good source of vitamin C and fiber.
    2. Provide folate, vitamins B2 and B3, magnesium and other essential nutrients.
    3. Contain ellagitannins, natural health-protective compounds that appear to have potent anti-cancer activity.
    4. Have considerable antioxidant potential (50% more than strawberries).
    5. Place in the top 15 of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition's best antioxidant sources.

    Hi cuties!!  I'm back!

DH took Sunday off for a change so we cruised Bevy up to Lake Tahoe on Saturday and stayed up there 2 nights!!  I LOVE IT THERE!!!!!!!!!!  Extreme heat wave in the valley here over 110 so 85 at the lake was heaven.  Visited family up there as well that were camping and some were down from Portland and in from Abu Dhabi.  Lots of walking, some swimming as well and lots of deep mountain air breathing!

Back to work and reality today, good to catch up with all of you too!

Deanna, thanks for the heads up regarding another Lincoln sister!  I will look for her AND I cannot believe you walked in 106 degree heat woman!!  You could have had heat stroke!!!!!!!!  you are one dedicated chickie!

Spring, congrats on the 25 years.  How wonderful that you were together and took off to the beach, very special.  AND I ate raspberries last week, yummo!  had strawberries today.

Congrats Srping. What beach did you head too? Very hot here too. I get energetic and rearranged the bedroom today. Had to take the whole bed down to move and moved the dresser around. Took me all day but it us done.  I then cleaned the kitchen and dining area this evening. Along with walking the dog and mowing the yard outside of the fence. Since I am off on Wed too I might go over to the beach and chill for a few hours. Suppose to be 95. My son is coming down the end of July. I will count the days down.  Starting four nights in a row that I know of on Thursday. Hope everyone has a great week. Don't forget to drink plenty of liquids with this heat.

Joy!!! Your energy has returned woman!! When you are done at PK's come over here!!!  BTW, we went to Kitty Hawk for the day. It was nice.

So last night I made butternut squash risotto, ate it, watched the news and fell asleep! So much for my plans of hopping on the cross trainer! So I got up today and did 3.4 on it.

I hope some of you ladies have Friday off and plan to enjoy the wkend!!! I think I heard it will be 95 here today... sheesh...

    Spring.

It was cold here yesterday. Yeah! I cleaned the house, lots of bunnies were hanging out everywhere-and NO I will not come and clean any of yours! I am getting ready for a french girl to come and visit me. She is a student of one of the teachers I work with. I hope I can keep her busy so she is not so bored. I am going there in Aug. to work on my exchange program schedule. The great thing is, I get to stay with the natives. Anyone want to join me? I will walk your butt off!

I am so jealous of those of you who live by the sea. I love walking along the shore. I've been to Kitty Hawk too Spring. The NC shore is one of my favorite places. We took the kids there a coupld of times when they were little. Glad to see you had good test results too!

Kari Keep your cool, I am blowing some cool wind in your direction, but it keeps coming back. Oh well, I tried!

Joy, sounds like you are getting some evergy back. It takes time, but you seem like a very athletic person so I know you will find your joy again! I want to try that kayak thing some day, but I am so afraid of ending up upside down!

It was 84 at 10 am today. I plan on vacuuming the living room and then heading over to the beach for a few. Some one asked early on. I work at a B&B in Beaufort. It is really like a small motel. We have 36 rooms and sit waterfront on Taylor's Creek which is part of the sound. The island across from us  has a herd of wild horses on it. Shackleford has the larger herd of 120 horses. Some of the yachts that come in to the harbor are bigger than my trailer. The Inn's website is   www.inlet-inn.com            If you forget the "-" you end up with Inlet Inn in Alaska. I am also in a research group on how reflexology contols your pain. (Foot massage)  I have been teamed up with a 75 year old man that grew up in Beaufort and some of the stories he tells is amazing. So much history down here. Let me see what I can get down. I walked the dog earlier.

Joy, so good to hear you had some energy!  It was me that asked about your work.  I looked up your Inn, at its precious.  The closest I ever got to that area was Camp Lejeune.  We used to go to the beaches south in NC and SC.  Your reflex group sounds really cool.  I bet that man you are teamed with has a lot to share, that would be so neat to me.

Spring, share the recipe for the risotto!!  I tried to make a risotto once and it turned out gloppy.  Good for you this a.m. on the trainer!

I have been so pooped out lately from this heat!  Can't seem to get motivated.  Today will be a long day at work with physical therapy for my hip on my lunch hour.  Also staying an hour later covering for my coworker...boo hoo...then have to get packed tonight.  We are driving up to Portland either tomorrow night after work or early Friday a.m.  A big party with family up there this weekend (9.5 hour drive, yuk!)

Vivre, thanks for trying to blow cool wind, LOL!!!  How I would LOVE to join you in August!  WOW!  and when is your french student coming?  soon, and for how long?  That should be fun!  I took French in school and my best friend at the time's dad was from Quebec and spoke fluent french to us.  I was pretty good, but now don't remember much.  My ex husband was Mexican and spoke spanish although didn't teach our girls much, but funny...I could understand my ex mom-in-law because of the french classes, which always amazed her!  A couple years ago my girls and I took American Sign Language for a year as two of my DH's siblings are deaf.  Fun to learn different languages.

You ladies in the heat keep cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

You all should be glad you can't hear me sing that!

Spring I would love that recipe too.

We were up early and took the hound for a walk. Now having trouble getting moving, got lots to do, house cleaning and a bit of shopping. It is warm here but not to some of your standards, I think we might hit about 22celcius today.

Kari -yuk to the drive but have a wonderful weekend.

Vivre, send the cold to us here in NC!!! Joy, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Beaufort! It is one of my favorite places! Love all those little shops and the places to eat. The Beaufort Grocery place is really cool. Is your B&B near the nautical museum, or on the other end? Vivre, Kitty Hawk nice too. Love the Outer Banks - almost other worldly, some parts of it.

OK!!! Butternut Squash Risotto!!!  I used Organic Butter - but honesty, YOU DO NOT NEED THIS MUCH!!! Ina, the Barefoot Contassa, and her butter! Use a little with olive oil for that shallot and it will be fine! I also didn't put meat in it (calls for panchetta, but bacon would do. But I don't do processed meats any more!)  I didn't have saffron; it came out beautifully. My daughter came up to me today (she got home late and ate when we were in bed!) and said, "MOM,I loved whatever that was you made!!"

Butternut squash roasted in the over (tossed with a bit of olive oil and S&P) is like candy!!!  Peeling that squash is a chore. Make sure you have a good peeler!

    Happy Bday to Canada!!! :)

Just printed the recipe, thank you Spring!!  I love Ina, but have often wondered if all that butter will get the best of her one day...she needs to get out there and shake her groove thing on the eliptical or trail or whatever! LOL

Happy Birthday Canada!!  I would love to hear you sing Penny!! LOL!

Spring - the Inlet Inn is located across the street from the Grocery. There were two B&B's on Front street but they have closed down. And then you have the Beaufort Inn that you see as you cross the drawbridge. If you come down here let me know. Would love to meet ya. Spent two hours at Atlantic Beach. Great people watching and the surfers were having a good time. Then came home and did laundry and ironed (yuck) and cleaned the living room. Energy is gone for now. Happy Birthday Canada. We have one coming up soon. Joy

Hi ladies--whew! I am back from vacation and had to sit and read to catch up on all I missed here. You all are so busy which is great! The Motivation must be working!

    Spring, congrats on 25!!

We returned last night and I went to yoga first thing this morning--felt so good after all the lugging bags around and sitting on an airplane. Did get some good walking in while away--both in NYC and on the Cape. Nantucket was so lovely! I haven't been there in ages. We did kind of eat ourselves silly in New York but the food was so good, we just vowed to make it up to ourselves when we got back! :)

Glad to see you are all well. Sounds like it is still hot. We came back to 55 degrees and foggy (cloudy) here--oh well. Better than to hot I guess. I'll send you all some cool breezes!!

Am off to do my second round of exercise today--cleaning the house! :)

It was 84 at 9 am. I mowed the front yard and trimmed the back. Also walked the dog. My son called and he is on the way to a fire on Ocracoke Island. It takes 45 minutes to cross on the ferry. Three fire departments are responding. Truck with fireworks blew up. 5 are known injured.  What a way to spend his day off! I'll keep you in the loop. I am working this evening.  It was 85 when I came home last night from work. Guess the heat isn't going to break anytime soon. Have a wonderful 4th. Joy

Happy 4th of July everyone!   DH & I just got back from a little roadtrip, starting @ UCLA, but for him this time.  He finally decided to get his knee evaluated for an old ski injury/repair that has gotten progressively worse in recent years.  Then we drove up to visit a SIL & BIL about 3 hrs. north of L.A. where it was a little cooler than here, and a wonderful break.  Much as I missed you all and this website, being away from the computer and the ever-present awareness of bc for a few days was good for me.

Mum ~ I have good news!  You can easily do 9,000+ steps a day shopping!  I know because I hit a Nordstrom (do you have those in Canada?) and also a large antiques mall on Tuesday and I was wearing my pedometer, just to see.  I didn't bother wearing it after than, but just tried to keep moving.

Well, just wanted to wish everyone a fun & safe holiday!     Deanna

Just want to stop by and wish everyone a good fourth of July.

You all put me to shame. But I have not gotten my energy back since I finished chemo in May plus have had a couple of other health issues.   I do about 2 miles a day walking around my house but I'd like to get that up more.

    Mandy
