woo hoo! Last A/C was today!
My fourth and final A/C was today -- now to get through the next 10 or 12 days -- and I'll be through at least one part of my treatment, and almost half my chemo. Woo hoo!!
Of course the next 10 or so days won't be much fun, but I can get through this!
Nothing really to say, just wanted to share my happiness (before fatigue hits and I'm too tired to care!)
I'm going to do a quick happy dance and then go to bed.
Rest well, everyone!

CONGRATSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
-
That is a great milestone, isn't it?! Celebrate each and every one with the same amount of joy (and pride). Before you know it, you will be at the other end of this journey and dancing all the more!!!
PS-where are you in Indiana? I'm in NW Indiana-are you close?
-
Thanks, both.... it's good to be on this side of the A/C.
whoopsie, I'm in west central Indiana (W. Lafayette). So we're not far apart. I have relatives around Crown Point and LaPorte but I don't see them often (dad's elderly siblings). I spent many wonderful summer weeks at my grandparent's farm outside LaPorte... nice memories! Good to see another fellow Hoosier!
Didn't sleep well last night (thank you, steroids)
but I just have to get through 2 half-days of work and I can crash for the weekend!
Dancing in my sleep!

Congrats Naturegrrl - you did it! I will have my fourth AC next Thursday, 2 weeks off and then 4 DD Taxol (which I am petrified about!). Am following in your footsteps!
Hugs,
Linda

Hang in there, Linda... I've been told repeatedly that after the A/C, the Taxol is a walk in the park. I won't be getting DD but I know what you mean about being afraid. Any new chemical is scary. Heck, I was nervous about each dose of my A/C and am still a bit anxious how this 4th dose with play out with nausea. Fatigue, I can deal with, but nausea (well, the idea of vomiting) terrifies me. Anyway --- one thing that reassures me a bit is that my 89 yr-old mom has had ovarian cancer for 3 years and has gone through taxol twice. Her only side effect was slight hair thinning (of course, my hair's gone, so it doesn't matter for me!).I wish you a light path of side effects, even with the DD.
Best of luck, and hang in there. You're right -- you're not alone!

Naturegrrl - Am so sorry to hear about your Mom - God bless her and hope all goes well. God, I am a "young" 62 and feel weary through all this, and your Mom's 89! What a fighter she must be, and guess you inherited it. I feel the same way about vomiting as your do. I'd rather suffer just about anything rather than vomit! My nausea hasn't been horrid through all the AC's, but more of a lingering queasy feeling - like you're hungry, but the idea of eating is making you sick! But, we will make it through round 2 of our fight. I wish you the best, and post, post, post, as I am right on your heels! Good luck to the both of us!
Hugs,
Linda

Linda, big hugs back!
I'm with you on the nausea -- I want to eat, but my stomach doesn't agree. Weird what tastes good/appeals and what doesn't, too. Part of the journey... I can handle this. I can handle this. I can handle this!
My mom is not only amazing in her fighting spirit, but in her body's ability to respond to the chemo. She's been given 6 months to live, twice (when she was first dx 3 years ago, and early spring of 2008) and has sailed through both of those. The dr. doesn't predict any more!
(to his credit, his predictions were well-founded at the time, but they just didn't know my mom, I guess!)
Hang in there!!! We can do this!
-
You have inherited great genes! My love to you and Mom.

Hey From Indiana here too and wanted to congratulate you on finishing AC that awful red Devil!!! I did 12 treatments of Taxol after and for me it was a walk in the park to the point that I didn't take nausea meds at all. My taste came back somewhat as well and I didn't feel like crap all the time. So I hope that works that way for you.
Hugs and Laughs

Congrats! Boy, I wish I were where you are today, but I know my day will be coming. Not soon enough for me though! I have at least 4 more Taxol/Carboplatin and my year of Herceptin. Good luck on the next two weeks and keep the faith. I will be thinking of you!
