IDC Breast Cancer

I was very early TNBC, .75cm,had a sentinel node biopsy and a lumpectomy. 2 nodes taken, both clear. I took 4xA/C followed by 35 rads, including 5 boosts. However, since my treatments finished in May 2009, I had the BRCA gene test and discovered that I was BRCA2 +. Now I will probably have my ovaries removed and a double mastectomy as prevention. I am supposed to start Zometa on July 1, 2009. this is for recurrence of the first cancer.

When we women are dx with TNBC, I think we should have the gene test then before treatments start. The BRCA gene mutation changes everything!

How imp is to get the BRCA test done?  My onco here does not talk about it. 

I was Dx 12th Feb 09. Then lumpuctomay and Axillary node removed.  9 out of 15 tested positive.  since then 4 cycles of EC and then 3 of Taxotere.  waiting for the last tax cycle.  Have already been told for 30 cycles of rads.  Then the PET scan.

I want to know more about BRCA test.

I'm an IDC triple neg.  Double mastectomy right before new year's, and since then did 4 AC dose-dense treatments then 3 of 4 Taxotere treatments (was supposed to have 4, but had to stop because of neuropathy).  I'm now about a week from finishing my 25 rads (rads recommended for me because of large tumor size and suspicious internal mammary (IM) lymph node seen on PET scan).  Oh yeah, I'm also waiting on BRCA results!

So sorry about your recent diagnosis, but you've found the right place for information, support, and commiseration.  Do you have specific questions?

My Mom In Law - aged 94. Is scheduled for Total Mastectomy on July 7. Her tumor is grade 2 IDC with lymph involvement. She goes in on 7/6 for the nuclear injection of the nodes. She also has Congestive Heart Failure so this all has to be done under a local. The Doc says he will only have to remove tissue (no muscle) and whatever nodes involved. She is small breasted probably less than an A. She is aprehensive and would prefer to let well enough alone, but my husband and bro, don't want her to SUFFER thru any cancer pain. We don't know how long her heart will last. Maybe 6 mos or less, w/o a stent, which is how they found the cancer. Her heart dr won't do a stent if she is only going to suffer w/ cancer. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can help her deal with issues AFTER surgery. She won't be having Chemo or Radiation after because of heart and age. She is a tiny 4'9 woman, but very negative. She doesn't believe in God any more. I am the only one in the family who does and am praying about it and have many people supporting me this way.  But those of you who have dealt with this surgery...
