Hair Hair Hair - Another question

I am 5 months PFC... I really don;t know how much hair I have... I would guess just about 2 inches in some places. I am thankful to have hair but it doesn't look good AT ALL. It is very curly and frizzy. I am still wearing my wig and am in HOUSTON. It is HOT. I just don't like what I look like with this new hair. I can't even imagine how long it will take to grow to my shoulders. I am going to my hairdresser tomorrow to see what he thinks. As much as I dont want to cut any off I think it needs to be "cleaned up" a little for me to start to get comfortable with it. No bangs at all. Hair sure came back everywhere else quick but my head seems slow and I lost some
eyelashes again.

Lainey, that's about what my hair looks like except mine is a bit thin at my temples. My look has moved from Evey (V for Vendetta) to plush toy. It's no wonder that people may want to touch it - the best thing about it is that the never-been-cut tips make it so soft. I keep touching it partly to check on its length. Fortunately, only my husband and good friend who is also one of my chemo nurses have touched mine, and she asked first.
Hair progress - today, ~ 4.5 months post-chemo, I got out of the shower, looked in the mirror and realized it looked mussed. I needed to brush my hair! Up until now, my hair has been so short that it was wash and wear. I might wake up with some sticking out, but the humidity of the shower put everything back in place. This morning it took a few swipes of the brush.
-
Oh I can't wait until I have to brush my hair. However, I must admit, with the high humidity we are having, if I had my pre-chemo hair I would be bitching about the un-ruley curls/fuzz and craming it all under a baseball cap.
-
My hair grows about 1/2 an inch per month. After chemo the rate of growth was the same for me. I really enjoyed the super short style when it came in...it was so easy to care for. When my hair got below my ears...that was the awkward stage.....but it was fun seeing the different lengths.

Lori / Goldie,
I am 7 months PFC with about 3 inches. Last night at Yoga, I saw a hair on my yoga mat! And it was MY HAIR!!! All through chemo and rads, if I found a hair on me, I'd say, "Well we know it's not MY hair". Now it is!! How thrilling! The hair I found on my Yoga mat was in the shape of a "C" for curl. LOL.
Mine is also like a mop of curls. Same, if I mess with it it gets like 80's "BIG HAIR". So I have just been washing it and leaving it alone. It seems to be "smallest" that way. LOL
Spring.
-
Spring . . .well, the 80's are back - with all of the neon 80's inspired fashions out there, you could rock those curls!
Still wearing the bandana out doing errands (not quite ready yet, Lisa!), but am wearing it higher on my head, like I would if I had hair, and am letting the little growth I have peek through - it seems to not be as harsh looking, and doesn't seem to invoke as much staring as when I had my whole shiny head covered. Almost ready for 2nd bottle of follicle booster.
-
Bold - Would you please tell my hair to grow RIGHT NOW! Maybe it will listen to you?
-
I just had my second hair cut (7 months out of chemo) She cut the back very short (ala kate gossling) and is letting the top grow out. She also highlights the top. Definately looks like a style (after I straighten the curls) and she says it doesnt matter how long the bottom and back is when I have to get the top layers down there anyway!
-
I have to comb mine after showers... I love it!
-
I had to buy a baby comb/brush set. There's nothing else in my house to use. My regular brushes are too big.
-
I use a beard comb even though I have like 5 hairs they get brushed everyday. I am hoping they get the idea and mulitply...lol....
I am very depressed about the hair situation (or lack of hair). I had an appt. for a clean up but there isn't enough hair to even do that so I had to cancel my appt. for today. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will see some kind of growth.

Dear Hair fairy:
I am writing this on behalf of a my sister Jane. She could really use abit of you magic hair dust. She has been especially good. Hardly ever complains. And is a member of your fan club. I know your very busy and your schedule is very haireed.I heard you were hanging out at the Hair Club For Men.(slut) I did not believe the Enquirer stories about you pulling the RUG out from under Mel Gibsons marriage.(home wrecker) Come on you! What are you going outside for some fresh HAIR? I did not appreciate you telling me to get a tattoo of a rabbit on my head so I looked like I had hare. But I am not here to point fingers or settle scores, just beg!!! PLEASE get of your fairy ass and give us hair NOW!!!!! Love you! Miss you!

OMG Bold, that is TOO FUNNY! I love it girl!
Spring.............Here's to "small" hair! LOL
-
Thank you, Bold. You're my hero(ine)

It will soon be almost 4 months since last chemo. My head is covered in black and gray hair, boy short, very short, and so straight and flat!!!! I was hoping for a curl, or even half a wave! Very frustrating!

Bold - I loved it!!!!! Thanks!! Can you please continue to communicate with the Hair Fairy? I like my fullness, but the length and rate of growth can use some extreme improvement.
I was sorry to hear that Farrah died, but I am glad that she is no longer in limbo. May God bless her soul. In all of her media reports you never ever heard her described as a diva or difficult. I hope the documentary of her journey inspires all cancer survivors.

Okay pity party for me....I want my hair back.... I came acrossed a picture of me 2 weeks before finding my lump and I realized how much I loved my hair. So Bold please tell the hair fairy I would really love it back sooner rather than later.......
-
Jamie...You are so pretty, either way!!
I have always had long hair and when I look back at pics of myself right before I found out about my cancer, I get sad and miss my hair so much. I know someday it will grow back, but that will be such a long time from now.
-
Jaimie! That picture is perfect!!!!! A brite, fun loving, giving person, who happens to be really hot and cute!!!! That isw what that pic says . You go girl! You will be back! Soon! Talk to the Hair Fairy - via Bold. She seems to have the line.
Jaimie, you are adorable with hair and with "short hair"!!!
Lisa
-
Thank you Christy and Lisa. Normally I am fine but tonight I am really sad about it
Christy~ That was the shortest it ever was until now... I guess I get to try out some short do's.
I have done Marsha Brady to bald now. I could have done without the second... Off too bed and hopefully grow some hair. Since my body likes to grow things I keep telling my body hair is the thing to grow now
-
Jamieh - what a pretty picture! But, your smile and your liveliness are there with hair or without - and I think you look great without hair too. It's all in the smile!!
I keep dreaming that I wake up and find big clumps of hair that has grown in, like tufts, all over my head. 2nd night I dreamt it, so maybe it's a signal from the hairy fairy that things are getting ready to really start growing.
Sad news about Farrah . . . she really fought hard, and was so brave to allow the world to see. Sad news about Michael Jackson, but that one really didn't hit me as much as Farrah did, because hers was this horrible hideous disease and really gives resolve to fight as hard as you can.
Have a hairy day, ladies!
-
Howdy hair friends!
I think I can finally say I have hair. Not a "style" but hair none the less.
I was so sad to hear of the passing of Farrah Fawcett. Never did you hear any press of her being a diva.
Lisa
-
Girls, be careful..... I'm a hairstylist and just because something says "organic" and it is sold in a healthfood store doesn't mean it does not contain harmful chemicals.
-
Jaimie, you look so beautiful in that pic......but heck....you look beautiful bald too!!!!! i mean it.
-
Thanks Pinkmama
I am giving my hair 3 weeks to grow and then it's getting color. What kind of coloring do you suggest ? Yup I am coloring it what ever color I can get my hands on at that time. This blonde/white is going to drive me bonkers.
Lisa~ Whooo for hair. Who cares about a style it will get there.
-
Oh my. Last week I thought I knew the mening of "Ostrich Head" boy was I wrong. Today I have hair standing straight out all over my head. No amount of mousse can hold it down. How long will this phase last? I am ready to put my ball cap back on.
-
Well ladies... I am still wearing my wig to work;-( Oh powerful Oz please give me courage!!!!!!
