I live north of Denver (Arvada) and would love to meet for HH. Where do you live?
I'm scheduled for a unilateral mastectomy in 2 days (Jan 16th) at Lutheran. Have you had surgery? How are you doing?
I'd love to hear from you. Any other Coloradans out there?
-
Stephanie and Denali - I live in S.E. Denver. Would love to meet...there are lots of Colorado gals here...Denver metro area, Boulder, southern CO....all over the state.
Denali...I am coming up on 3years...Dx 2/3/06..bilat..chemo, rads, ooph, AI's. Slowly moving on, finding the "new me".. Good luck to you on your surgery...wishing you an easy recovery.
-
Hello Denali and Karen..so nice to hear from you...I live in Colorado Springs..but have a great friend in southwest Denver and sure wouldn't mind coming up some time.
4 years ago I had IDC, Stage 1, left mastectomy, chemo...unfortunately..just found out mets to neck and chest wall...huge bummer...BUT ...taking Femara now and hoping to get it under control. After a month of feeling sorry for myself I am back to being myself, loving life and fighting.I'll be thinking about you Denali on the 16th..are you feeling ok? Please feel free to ask any questions. Hopefully we can all meet up in the near future!
-
Denali..how are you doing recovering from your mastectomy? Are you still up for meeting sometime? how about you Stefanie?
Karen
-
Hello Karen, hello Denali,
I am having my ovaries removed this Friday but we should definately plan a get together in the near future. I hope Denali is doing ok ....let us know.
Stefanie
-
I'm just south of Denver (highlands Ranch). I'm a 10 year, 2 time survivor. Would love to meet with other survivors. Been a long journey without much support.
Stefanie and Denali, hope your surgeries went well and you're on the mend.
-
Oh my, talk about chemo brain!! I'm on steroids (chemo day #2 is tomorrow), can't sleep and was surfing the boards. Saw this thread and thought, WOOO HOOOOO ! Coloradans began a message! Started reading and noticed I posted back in January. Forgot all about it. sigh.
I've been great! Mastectomy went really well and I'm now on the chemo journey.
So sorry I never replied. I've been wishing for a get together! If no one posts in a couple days I'll PM each of you and see if you're still interested.
-
I am in Highlands Ranch, 1.5 weeks post surgery from double mast. with expanders, bored as hell. Waiting another 2 weeks for Oncotype DX results. Won't know about chemo until results are in. I get freeked out with thoughts of recourance when I think about my 6.5 and almost 5 year olds. Anyone interested in coffee or something stronger down in the Ranch?
-
I'm in Arvada--maybe we could meet in the middle somewhere. I'm getting chemo #3 tomorrow, but it won't hit me until Sunday I think. Let me know if you'd like to get together.
-
Linda,
How did chemo #3 go? Let me know if/when you guys get together. Passover is 4/9-4/16 so it either has to be before then or after. Hugs to you and I hope this last chemo was kind to you. Karen
-
My 3rd chemo was a bit harder--a little more nausea and fatigue. I have a new nausea med though and I think I'll ask about something for the achiness.
I was thinking......wouldn't it be nice if they had 'Chemo Spas' where you could go for chemo week and they'd serve you hand and foot, and you could have anything to eat you're craving, and they'd give you pedicures and manicures during your stay?? And every night they'd give you a cocktail of meds personalized for your side effects that tasted surprisingly like a margarita.
There could be $$$ in this!
My next chemo is April 16th so sometime at the end of the month would be good for me.
-
Linda,
Can I bring you a meal? or some cookies? I just got offered a new job and I am working M, T and Fridays...I start tomorrow...This week Wed and Thursday (15th and 16th) are the last two days of Passover and then I work Friday...but I could run up after work on Friday and drop something off...or come by on Sunday...I am off on Wednesdays and Thursdays...your idea sounds wonderful....pampering is what we all deserve...so let me know what you crave or what I can bring you...I'll just stop by and drop it off...don't need to stay and visit....
Hugs to you. Karen
-
just bumping...hope everyone is doing well...
-
Hi, Karen, and all other CO women!
We should try to get together some time this summer. I know everyone has busy schedules, but surely we can find an afternoon to meet somewhere? I've been PM'ing with a couple other locals, and will direct them to this topic. It would be great to meet everyone.
Anne
-
Anne, I just PM'd you. Now that my chemo is finished (this month!), I'm ready to get together.
Karen, hope you're still doing well!
Linda
-
July is a good month for me....daughter will be at camp all month...love to meet..Linda...congrats on finishing chemo...
I don 't check in here too often so you may want to email me at my email...Linda, I think you have it. Karen
-
Hi Karen! I've probably lost your email during chemo craziness. I'll PM you and Anne with my email address. Emails might be easier to contact each other.
I'm excited about getting together!
-
Just found this thread - over a month since the last post on here - has anyone set up a meeting yet? Would love to be included!
-
Where do you live, Anniese? A couple of us are from Arvada. I'd be up for a get together!
-
Denali....keep me posted if there is a get together. Hope you are doing well.
-
I am doing well, Karen! I'm PFC (post f$%#@^% chemo) and feeling good again. I fell and fractured my hand a couple wks ago, but i just have to wear a velcro splint, so it's all good. (And no hair to have a hard time brushing with just one hand!)
Hope you're doing well! Are you working again?
-
Denali - I live up on the northern end of Thornton. Would love see all of us CO girls get together! I'm heading into reconstruction surgery in less than three weeks so probably won't be up for this until mid to late September.
-
Anniese: Julie from this board who lives in Arvada as I do met for lunch recently. She just had her reconstruction surgery, so you might consider getting together before then to chat with her. Sounds like we live pretty close to each other.
-
Hello All,
I am totally up for a get together. Just let me know where and when. I am sure we could share stories and help each other since we are all in different places in this process. I had my exchange 7/2 and my breasts are still changing a little every week as things settle in.
Linda and I live near each other in Arvada and have already gotten together for lunch. It was so nice to spend time with someone familiar with what I am going through!
Julie
-
How about getting together Sunday afternoon, August 9th ?? Can anyone make it? We could pick a central location.
-
I could probably make it on Sunday, the 9th. I know that Anne is also interested in getting together - I'll send her a note and see if she is free that day. Julie, would that work for you? AND - any other CO people that want to join in, chime in.........
-
I need to juggle my schedule a bit, but I'd love to join in on the 9th. I live in Boulder. Where's a good place to meet?
Anne
-
If it's just us who live up north, maybe we could meet at a restaurant in Flatirons Aug 9th? I emailed Karen and I know she lives southeast. Here's who we have so far.
CAN attend:
- Anne in Boulder
- Anniese in Thornton
- Linda (Denali) in Arvada
Interested:
- Julie (Geysermom) Arvada
- Karen southeast Denver
Also, I mentioned our possible get together to someone in my exercise program (for cancer survivors) yesterday and a woman named Bernadette would like to join us. She had BC and is in the same place in the journey I am. Hope that's ok if she comes along.
-
The more the merrier! Flatirons has some good areas. Village Tavern, Red Lobster, PFChangs, I'm sure there are more.
Anne
-
Great - I think the 9th somewhere around the Flatirons Mall would be terrific. Hopefully, a couple more will stumble across this and want to join us!
