GoodMorning,
Roya, Corrine Thank God that you both have good news. So happy for you both.
Deen Prayers from me to you.
Bette wishing you the best and lots of prayers.
Have a great day ladies.

My oncologist called today with my CT scan results. There is a lesion on my left lung, and enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. I am to have a PET scan next week. The doc says this does not mean the cancer has definitely come back, but it is possible.
Tom has taken the day off, so that I will not be coping with this alone. I have peace with God about it, and would appreciate your prayers.

Good night to all. Resting in the peace of God. Nothing will happen until Monday anyway.
Tonight the April 2009 rads group celebrated the end of treatment with a virtual ice cream party. Tom and I ate mint chocolate chip together and reflected on how good God has been to us.

Bette, I'm so sorry that you're even dealing with such a possibility, but I'm going to believe that it's NOT bc! You had some very aggressive chemo, and hopefully that spot is something entirely unrelated to bc. I will be praying for you, and will be looking for some good news next week.
Dierdre ~ You'd asked about supplements. If you haven't already, you might want to check the "natural girls" thread here. It's a very lively thread, and supplements are a big part of it. I've always taken a lot of them, but since having bc, I've learned about and am now taking several new ones. Too much to go into here, but do check out that thread for some valuable ideas. There are also a couple of other good ones -- "What Have You Changed?" and "Alternative/Complementary Strategy List." All are in the Alternatives section.
Wishing everyone a great weekend and Happy Father's Day ~ Deanna

Very tired today. Tom held me in his arms all night. It is so wonderful to have him here.
Nothing will get done this weekend, so I will rest in Tom's arms and God's hands.
Taking things one day at a time.

Bette, best wishes as you determine what this could possibly be. I agree with Deanna, I can't believe the chemo you just had would allow something to come back. Fingers crossed for a clean bill of health!!
Hi to all!! I am out of school and feel free as a bird.

Hello!
Well it's been a crazy week at work but better to be employed than not right?
My DDD -Dreaded DX Day is coming up on 6/24. A day I'll never forget. I actually rec'd results on 7/2 but rec'd the call on 6/24. What a year huh girls.
Lisa: I'm sorry to hear about your infection. Glad to hear you're healing well. You have such an amazing spirit. Keeping you in prayer.
Gail: Have a safe trip in Brazil! You look great in that short hair cut.
Deana: I'M SOOOO Happy for your neg. results! I was concerned about wierd lumps near my scar but it was scar tissue. What a relief.Sounds like you had great care. I had to wait like 2 wks. for results! Oh Bunko was a blast! I didn't win any$ and had a bad hangover from too many Mai Tai's. It was great girl time.
Hey Deen: My Gyn. warned me of horrible SE's from the ooph. Sounds like it's not so bad. They told me they'd probably only remove my tubes and ovaries. Why your uterus too? I'm totally keeping my fingers crossed for a clean scan for you. Hopefully it's a reaction to your recent surgeries. Keep us posted.
Roya: I'm happy you made it to your mammo! Praying for clear results.
Corrine & Bette: I hope the 2 of you are feeling better and I'm sending positive prayers & energy your way!
MamaK" Sorry to hear you've been feeling down. I can totally relate to the anxiety of the Dr. visits. That horse ride sounds so peaceful and exuberating. Hang in there.
Misty: Glad you're you're out of school. Enjoy the summer! You'll be done w/Herceptin soon too.
Did Zumba yesterday and it was great. Such an energy lifter. The class was packed w/everyone Shaking their Shimmies. Now too take off this weight. I'm also going to Vegas w/my DM& DDad this Thursday. I'm so blessed to still have my parents.
It's going to be another crazy week.
Keeping all of us in prayer. Love you girls!

Deen, When is your appointment for your lump on the left? Praying for you!!
-
Hey everyone,
I have an appt next Fri to see my onc. I keep feeling under my arm, where my lymph node scar is, and it feels like it's just under there. I think I might be overreacting, but I want to get it checked. I hate living in fear all of the time.
Jeaninne, the ooph wasn't too bad, really. The pain was not too bad, you can barely see the scars now. After a week, the pain only got a little bad at the end of the day. I suggest wearing loose, soft pants or shorts, or dresses, nothing that is tight or rubs your tummy. The GS asked me if I wanted my uterus out, and I said I don't know,do I need it for anything?, and she said not if you don't want any more children, and that's one less thing for any cancer cells to attach to, so I decided to get it out, too, as long as she didn't have to do abdominal surgery, which is a lot more invasive.
Corinne, you are such an angel, it means so much to me.
I hope everyone has a great Fathers Day,
Deen

Tomorrow I will call to schedule the PET scan. Then, more waiting for the test and results.
I did not think I had any symptoms, but Tom said he has noticed me coughing alot. Hopefully the lung lesion and the enlarged nodes are benign.
I had my year basically planned out with college and recon. Funny how things can change suddenly. Hopefully I will get a good report and be able to go on with my plans. Otherwise this could be a turbulent summer, like last year.

Bette ~ About the cough -- when Gail and I had lunch with Kaye (she had posted here recently), she mentioned that a cough is not uncommon after chemo and can linger for a year. I kind of had that for a few weeks after rads, but it seems to have gone away, and I'm hoping that's what your cough is, too.
Deen ~ From the location of your lump, I'm betting it's a cyst, which the radiologist who did my u/s said is very common when we've had lymph nodes removed; or else it's scar tissue. But, like you said, you've gotta get it checked -- for the peace of mind, if nothing else.
Praying B9 B9 B9 B9 B9 everything for you both! (((Hugs))) Deanna

The PET scan will be on Saturday, June 27, and we will se my oncologist for the results on Wednesday, July 1. So it will be a week of waiting.
I plan to focus on finishing up the work for my course, spending time with Tom and lots of prayer and Bible reading. Hoping that these activities will keep my mind from visiting all the possibilities. It is no use worrying. What is there is there. Perhaps it will be nothing but a scare, and we can go back to life as normal.
Bette

Bette~ I am staying very posititve and hope you are 2. I'm praying 4 you tonight that it's nothing.
I haven't heard any results from my blood work either but trting 2 stay positive and leaving it in Gods hands.

I FORGOT TO LET YOU ALL KNOW...........I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMA IN JAN!! FIRST GRAND CHILD due on the 24th!! My Daughter was married last year in Sept. while I was going through chemo!! Yes, so excited to be alive and well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Congratulations Corinne! This is so exciting!
I am looking forward to the day that my married daughter calls me with such news.
Best wishes on your party tonight.
Bette
-
Deanna, thanks so much for your support. I didn't know that about the cysts being common. That's good to know.
Bette, my prayers continue for your quick healing.
Mamakaren, hope your bloodwork is good now.
Corinne, if you wouldn't mind, send some of that water down here!
Congrats on your upcoming grandbaby, I'm hoping for one soon, too, but so far, not!
Have a great week,
Deen
-
Corrine~ CONGRATS you new nana! Oh my gosh it's the best feeling in the world. It's the greatest feeling to see my grandson and I feel so blessed and fortunate that I'm alive also. As for my Mom she is doing great and I'm so thankful. She completed her chemo but now they are advising her to do another 6 treatments since 11 nodes were positive. He says that stomach cancer usually always comes back but he really wants to give here more chemo for prevention. My mom is so mad but I really think it's in the best interest for her. Even if it only kills one cancer cell its worth it I tell her. She has to remember that all this started by one little cell. I hope that she does well so pray for her please.
Deen~ I hope all is well with you. I got my treatment today and I seen the nurse for a split second and asked about the bloodwork and she said not to worry that everything was good. So I feel so greatful. I have alot of things to thankful for but I can't help to feel like shit most of the time. I really need to get it together! Thanks for wondering about me.
-
Mamakaren, I'm so thankful your bloodwork is good!
Deen, Did you find out anything about your lump yet?
I am up late. Can't sleep. Have been worrying about the PET scan and it's not til Saturday. As a Christian, I know I have to have faith in God, but I'm having trouble with that right now. I need peace in my heart about this. If something is there in my chest, it's there already, and the scan will only reveal it . One thing at a time. I won't find out the results for over a week from now, so I have to stop worrying or I will go crazy.
Bette
-
Bette~ I can't sleep either and it's almost midnight. Im praying that God will grant you peace and that he will protect you and let your PET scan be good. Goodnight and God Bless you.
-
Mamakaren, I ended up sleeping a little and am now up reading my Bible and making coffee. A verse that helped me is Psalm 34:4 "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears."
I am seeking the Lord very much right now as I have a lot of fears.
Bette
-
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah" (Psalms 46:1-3 )
-
Thanks, Roya, for the verse.
This is really affecting me. I had a full-blown panic attack today. Tom cared for me and held me, and I cried in his arms. Feeling a little better now.
This is such a long wait. Next Wednesday we will learn the results.
I feel really week right now. A good time to rest in God's hands.

Calling all breast cancer sisters... can you do me a favor? I know this is off the topic and I hope it's okay to post this but...I am trying to win a contest for my son (to meet his idol - Joe Perry, Aerosmith)... all you have to do is click on this link and click on the thumbs up icon to vote for our entry (legit site, legit contest, MOST deserving young man!)... can you please help me? Just trying to bring a little joy into my son's life after all this depressing /chemo stuff... voting is only June 23-26... please vote? It'll only take a second... help me bring joy to this boy!
Thank you so much! P.S. It says you can only vote once, but if you have more than one computer I think you can vote twice.. lol We are only in second place by about 30 votes and voting ends Friday!!!

Of course holtbolt, glad to help. Our kids are going through this along with us! They deserve just as much help and support as we do.......maybe even more.
Let us know the outcome.

Bette: Psalms 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, ONLY makest me dwell in safety. We are ALL with you and are continuing to hold you up in prayer.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in PERFECT peace, whose mind is STAYED on thee; because he trusteth in thee.
-
Corinne, Thanks for the verses, and thanks to all those who are praying.
Today I have been crying, sobbing in Tom's arms. I think I have gotten it off my chest for now.
I have started a journal on CaringBridge.org. Feel free to visit if you want to read how I am doing. I plan to keep current on that site.
Tomorrow is the PET scan. I am trying to visualize my doctor telling me on Wednesday that i am NED.

Hang in there, Bette! I wish there was something we could do to help you. I know how scared you must be. I, too, am believing that your scan will be clear -- that whatever they thought they saw is radiation damage or scar tissue or some other kind of damage. What time is your app't.? I want to pray for you while you're there -- that you will feel peace and not be afraid.
Continuing to lift you up in prayer, as I know so many here are ~ Deanna
-
Bette, my prayers are with you.
Corinne, thanks for the beautiful verses.
I went to the onc today. Deanna was correct! Just scar tissue, she said there is always a lot under arms after lymph node surgery. She switched me from Tamoxifen to Arimidex, gave me a one month supply to test, in case the SEs are too bad. They scheduled a bone density test for me, and I'll start next month on quarterly IV Zometa, which, besides keeping bones healthy, she said has a great SE of lowering recurrence of BC. She said that it even surprised Drs., then they researched it and found it to be true.
I'm also getting an xray for a dent I have in my leg that I've had since chemo and has not gone away. Wierd, but probably nothing.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Deen
