D Ribos (heart & muscle health)

Options

Hi ladies,

My lymphedema arm now keeps me from doing all the research I use to do.  Would someone please do the research on this supplement.  I was watching a medical program and the doctor said for heart & muscle health these are the supplements we must take. Acetyl Carnitine, COQ10 200-400 mg daily, Magnesium 400 daily & DRibos. I take all of these but this one.

I do know it is a sugar. But remember that our body needs nine different kinds of good sugars. Not fake sugars. What little I read said ti is wonderful for Fibramalgia.

Thanks in advance.I'm loosing muscle tone because of all the steroids they have given me. The more you do them the more you will start loose muscle. It's now helping that I'm in so much pain with lymphedema that I can ride my exercises bike and it's way to hot to get outside here in Florida right now.

I looked around some now on D Ribose for you. Ribose is an organic compound readily available in nature. The D form is mentioned most often. Pubmed references pulled up early investigation for its use in heart muscle. I found nothing matching D Ribose, cancer but a goodly amount on D Ribose and muscle.

I always check the MSK CAM site: it does not mention D Ribose nor deoxyribose.

I have come to take peeks at Wikipedia, as that site is always dependent on input, sometimes it's great sometimes not, but I do like to look at this source as it's a fascinating idea (contribute if you know and can). Here is it's link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribose.

"D-ribose is often marketed as a supplement for bodybuilders with a common recommended daily dose being 5 g, even though most studies have found no evidence that it is helpful for endurance, recovery or increasing muscle mass in healthy people.[citation needed]"

Most information was found under a sight selling it, so I'll link that too:

    Hope this helps a little,

    Tender,

Thanks so much. I'm trying to remember the doctor I watched.  He was a high in cardiologist at one of the big hospitals.  That is the only reason I got curious about it.
