Don't know how I missed this thread. I first noticed something when I was 41 but since it didn't show up on a mammo or u/s I was told it was nothing. One year (!) later I had a big fat cancer -- 2.9cm IDC 1 node positive out of 17, er and pr pos. So I was 42. Still am 42. Looking forward to turning 43 soon and all the (many)birthdays to follow.

Do I count as "younger" even though I am 42? When I was diagnosed I said to my surgeon "isn't it more aggressive in younger women?" To which he replied, "I'm tryig to think of a delicate way to put this, but you aren't that young." Made me laugh.

    Hi to all you kids,
Seems as though everyone here is VERY young. This is my second time around, I was diagnosed in Aug.03 at 85, stage 3+ had a radical, rads (33) as soon as I was healed, had all nodes in that arm removed Jan. 04, chemo until March 05
Texetere, navelbine and taxol. Had 1st. radical in 1973 and nothing showed until 03. Mother had 1 at age 42 and 2nd at 70, sister 1 at 74. I feel for all you YOUNG women and don't blame you for doing anything you can. Have faith, trust, and a good Onc. My hat is off to all of you! I'm reaching out with a big HUG for all of you. GOD BLESS.

I was/am 41, when i found the lump on mother's day this year. I have gone thru all the tests and am HER2neu positive. I am entering a clinical trial for pre-surgery herceptin/navelbine 12 weeks cycles. to be followed by surgery then AC and taxol. I had my loading dose of herceptin alone last thursday, 6/23 and get my combo herceptin/navelbine 7/7 and every thursday after for 12 weeks. i turn 42 on 7/3. big firecracker!!! I feel young to have this hit me, and no family history. It just snuck right up on my, i had a clean mammogram in sept 04, and a full physical, breast exam and bloodwork in feb 05. only to find the tumor myself may 8th. what a shock. i find myself reading these boards all day today. thanks for sharing everyone. lynnz

I was 32. Found the lump myself 3 weeks after I quit nursing my 3rd child. It was between 5 & 8 cm, grade 3, probably stage 3. I'm going for AC #5 in two weeks then 12 weeks of Taxol followed by bilateral mastectomy. No family history of any kind of cancer. Turned 33 at the end of April and for my birthday gift from chemo, my hair started to fall out! Feeling pretty good so far into treatment and hope it stays that way.

Hi Joyce Anne, I was 65 when diagnosed in March of this year. Going to start my radiation after the 4th of July. Had a very small tumor and margins, lymph nodes clear. Will be on arimidex for 5 years. Was hormone recepter positive. One is never to old.

I was diagnosed the day after my 44th birthday, August 16th 2004. Stage 2 multi focal 3 positve nodes. Did chemo 4ac, 4 taxol, then mastectomy in January 2005. Mast did not heal completely until May 1st. I just finished rad June 24th - this past Friday. Except for tamoxifen I am done with treatment and have been declared NED.

So many inspiring posts! I have read every single one and I will keep each and every brave woman here in mind when I am most scared.

I had been 36 for about 4 days when I felt a lump in a BSE. I was dx on 6/1 with 1.5cm IDC and DCIS both in the left breast. I had my bilateral mast exactily 2 weeks ago. Today I learned that I have 4/17 nodes positive, though only one is "really bad". Geez, could I sound more in denial?! lol Anywat, I don't know the stage or grade but I will get dose dense chemo starting in about 3 weeks.
