Thanks lexis for posting this...very interesting....great for newly diagnosed her2 + women...
I was in on of those original triasl in 2000...Unfortunetly I seem to screw up the stats a bit, I was dx again in 2006...I do believe with all my heart that I had such a long time between dx's because of herceptin, as I have very aggressive b/c, and would probably recurred mush sooner without it... Have been on herceptn this time around for 3 1/2 yrs, and just added tykerb to the mix....lets hope the combo is the secret ingredient...I like the fact that the tykerb can break into the brain where herceptin wasn't able to..hmmm.....So many changes, treatments have really come a long way..now if we could only find a cure..Hugs KLynn.....

Hi ladies
Lexis thanks so much for posting this, I read the whole article and while most of it is just great news, I was bummed to see the gal that participated in the study had recurred after only 3 years. She had stage 2 disease and credited Herceptin but seemed like such an early recurrance for an early disease and one year of Herceptin.
I guess I get myself feeling really good because My Onc, who is involved with these studies feels that for early stage (node Neg) disease and one year of Herceptin the chance of recurrance are very low. My other Onc who is the busiest in AZ has not had one early stage Her2 gal recur since introducing Herceptin in 2005 to early stagers.KLynn - I hate that you had recurrance too! Have you been stable with going back to Herceptin?
I hope this can keep you disease free. Do you know much about the trials in 2000 have their been many that participated and got the Hercepting that have recurred.I tell you this BC sucks I get myself in a really good place and don't think about it 20 times a day then the littlest thing can just start the worry train and the anxiety .....!

Hi KLynn,
The wife of a collegue has been stage IV on herceptin for 11 years now and is doing great. So I think there is reason for you to be optimistic, especially with tykerb added to the mix.
Best of luck to you
