Yesterday I recieved a shock.  I started my period after almost a year and a half.  It occurred to me on Monday that my hot flashes had stopped.  My doctor is testing my hormone levels but he is also checking my thyroid too.  I have been slowly gaining weight since chemo ended and I am more active and watching what I eat.

Has anyone had any issues like this?

I had hot flashes/night sweats just prior to dx, thinking I was starting menopause early at the age of 41.  I've had my period all of 4 times since 2006, but the hot flashes have stopped.  And I'm gaining tons of weight.  Treatment destroyed my thyroid.  I have tried and tried to lose the weight but the only thing I'm losing is the battle.  :)

I've been hypothyroid for nearly 40 years, but after radiation therapy, my thyroid levels dropped even lower and my medication had to be significantly increased. It's something I never realized could happen, but my astute OB/GYN insisted I have my TSH levels checked at my last visit.

Thanks for responding.  I haven't heard from the doctor yet with my lab results so I guess maybe monday.

Hi.  I ended chemo in April of 2007 and have steadily been gaining weight ever since.  I was hypothyroid before the chemo but weight was managable.  Now, it is uncontrollable and I seem to be gaining it all in my stomach/upper body.  I have not had a period since 2006.
