Palpable lumps - not showing on mammo or US

Hi Girls

Yesterday, I had a clear mammo and US to determin 2 palpable, hard, nobbly lumps in my good boob.  One is about 2.5cm x 2cm and the other, close by, is around 4cm x 1cm.  They seem to have grown from nothing this year.  (I had a clear mammo and US last October too).

The radiologist did find a cyst which she aspirated there and then and has sent for pathology and arranged a breast MRi "to put my mind at rest, although nothing is guaranteed...".  I was relieved that one lump was at least a cyst until last night when I realised BOTH lumps are still there and unchanged!

I'm aware that ILC "hides" from imaging sometimes.  Is this similar to any of your experiences?  I would be so-ooo grateful for any advice as I am only just getting over a recurrence and removal of reconstruction in my other boob.  If it's not ILC what the hell could they be and why aren't they showing up on the US?

Many thanks

Nikki x

Hi Nikki,  my "lumps" were undetected until I had an MRI.  I'm glad they have agreed to do one for you.  The lumps could be be a type of cyst that sometimes does not appear on imaging.  I'm sorry I don't remember the exact name (my mom had them) but will see if my mom remembers and let you know.

Whatever these little buggers are - my moto is the only good lump is one in a jar.  Hang in there - the unknown sucks.

    Hugs

    Liz

    Hi Nicki,

My palpable lump did not show on Mammo,  but it did show on US, the MRI is the best thing you can do now that should give a clearer answer.

    Good Luck - XOXOXOXOXOX
