expanders-reconstructing Amy
I recently started my reconstruction may 25 i did a prophylactic mastectomy on the left side had one on the rt side in 2007 had tissue expanders placed that day as well.
now that i look at it I find it hard to believe that they will ever look like boobs?
anyone have any pointers for the expanding process? does it hurt when you get filled? my first one being next thursday.
any products help the skin stretch? I am worried about the outcome will it eventually look somewhat right?
not sure if I made the right choice? but I am happy to have the other side gone thats for sure not going to worry about that side anymore-no prosthesis ya ---being a big breasted girl at a double e its a big change.
once i start to fill i am hoping they wont be as hard as they are empty.
any pointers are apprechiated.

Hi Amy!
I had a left mx a year ago and I had an expander put in 3 weeks ago. I was really uncomfortable until I had my first fill. I c!ouldn't feel a thing at the time and now I don't have any pain at all. Yes!
It is very hard. Unlike you, I am very small busted so this is a big change for me. I will have an implant put on the other side as well. Before you go for your first fill take a couple of extra strength tylenol or motrin just in case. That way you can stay ahead of the pain if there is any.

Thanks gibby,
I will for sure take some pain killers before I go just incase.
the good thing is I am not really in any pain at this point just tight.
I am looking forward to the start of the fills thats for sure but will be strange watching them grow lol.
how are you evening yourself out do you wear a prosthesis at this point ?
I am still lopp sided so I stil wear little stuffies in a camosile
are you using any kind of creams or potions to help stretch?
-
Hi Amy!
Ya the growing part is pretty funny. I call it my chia pet. Ha! Ha!
I have been using bio oil. I don't know if it makes a huge difference but I use it anyway. A while back I was on another thread and a women suggested wearing nursing pads to even out your breasts so I tried it and that's all I do now. I have a prosthesis but it just isn't the right size. The nursing pads have adhesive strips so I just wear them with cotton camisoles and it is very comfortable. It's all smoke and mirrors! Let me know how your fill goes. I actually go to a PS in Oakville for my fills. It's a 2 hour drive for me but my daughter lives there.

Hi gibby,
thanks for your replies.
I have also been using bio-oil since my mx in 2007. That stuff is great.
I was able to find these funny little tube tops called bandeaus they come with two pockets in them with a removable padding they work great on evening out the lop sidedness.
well I hope your fill goes well how may have you had so far?
I am still finding it hard to believe that they will ever look like boobs.
who was your ps? mine is Dr. Ariana Dalcin in hamilton.
My first fill is thursday looking forward to it really cant wait to just start the process and hope they start to look better than they do. I had a skin sparing on the left side and it looks awful with all the extra skin there.
keep in touch and let me know how it goes.

Hi Amy;
I just got back from Oakville yesterday where I was visiting and I got another fill. He put in 100cc yesterday. There was no pain and finally it is looking like I have a figure again. How are you making out? Just keep thinking about how great you'll look at the end of all of this!
Talk to you soon

wow 100cc's thats great. How many fils have you had so far? how much do they usually put in? what size are you going too? any stretch marks? sorry for so many questions.
I go thursday for my first fill and yes it sucks having no figure has made me quite depressed.
I hope we look great after thats for sure---- thats the light at the end of the tunnel! lol
talk soon i will let you know when I get back on thursday how much they put in and how it was.

Hi Amy;
I have had 3 fills. The first one was 60cc at the time of surgery so I looked like a small A coming out of surgery. The second was 60cc because he was worried I would be uncomfortable with more. I looked like a small B. This time he just kept going until I could feel it and he put in 100cc. He put in another 5cc but that was uncomfortable. Now I look large B. It isn't painful, it just feels like pressure when you know you have had enough. We are going to look fantastic!!!! I feel so much better already and I'm sure you will to. Remember, take some Advil or Motrin before you go.
Talk to you soon!

oh I so hope they fill away. I am in no pain at all at this point. You are so inspiring to me I am so glad you replied. I bet those boobs look great! I am totally empty but they left alot of skin on my left side so I look like I have one deformed boob. my ps asures me that i will look great at the end.
my daughter who is 9 wants to see the fill on thursday but I am not sure yet if I want her to watch. She has been my support throught all of this and has really walked with me--she is awesome and I really dont know If I could have done any of this without her.
where are you located?
sorry again that I ask so many questions but to me knowlege is power.
and just think we sooo kicked BC butt to be at this stage and feeling pretty good.
I love to dance and just cant wait to be all done with this and dance the rest of my life away!!!
talk soon

Hi Amy;
I just got home from having another fill and I thought about you. How is it going? I hope you aren't having alot of discomfort with this. I am up to 300cc now and quite honestly it looks huge to me. I think I only have one more visit and then we will leave it until the end of August at which time I will have my exchange surgery. Hope you're doing well!
