Mela,
A wedding, how exciting. I am so happy for you. Your picture is great! I still wear hats all the time. I am so glad you are done with AC, I am on that and the T all at once. I will be done Feb 23rd. I still have my eye lashes and brows also, even a few strands of hair. Where is WI are you getting married. It should be much warmer there by then. My sister works in Milwaukee at Baird, it is an investment firm. She sent me pictures of her house and it was covered with snow...unbelievable. Last weekend I had one of the women on a different post come to California with her family for vacation. She managed to make it to San Diego and we had coffee and she came to my home. It was really special to form friendships through this crazy disease.
Carla Jane. I am on a different schedule than you but I like Mela would suggest not to plan to much, plan on drinking lots of water and get as much help as you can from family and friends. The best way to describe it, for me, was it is like having the worst flu you could have for 5 days and you cry a bunch because of the emotional side of the drugs.....at least that was me, everyone is different. I get sicker for a longer period of time but I am on all 3 drugs and I only go every 3 weeks. Hang in there! Kristi

Anyone else having problems with a cold? I have had this cold for over two weeks now. They gave me a Zpac, but it did nothing. Now they want me to try over the counter stuff before they give me another antibiotic. Ugh....feeling icky.
-
Hello,
Sounds like it is just you and me on this one. I wanted you to know that i pulled up your sight, It was great. Very inspirational, plus it had pictures of your cute hunk. I have been married 22 years now but it really doesn't seem that long ago. I remember everything so vividly back to those days. The best part of the wedding is when everyone has eaten and you can just sit back and relax and reflect on all your friends being there, well the honeymoon ain't bad either.
My white blood cell count is really low so I am staying away from everyone, because it seems like everyone around is sick. I got chemo today so I will be a hermit for 10 days or so. I am thnakful sometime that I am not working.
Hang in there, watch the cold I here they linger, call the doc and see what he says. Kristi

Hey...yes I think we are alone here too!
Thanks for checking out my site, I saw your post! The wedding is coming up so fast, I think that I have taken way too much on. I'm coaching cheer, working, and planning the wedding. But I have to say that my co-workers have been amazing. Also, a parent (who owns a salon) is helping me pick out my "wedding wig" tomorrow! Everyone at work has helped me every step of the way. I only worked 2 days last week though and barely made it though those. I'm feeling better today, but still congested.
Sorry to hear about your white count. It seems like everyone here has the flu...I'm scared to catch it. It's probably a good idea to stay home. Get some good books and good movies! I hope that you feel ok after your chemo, I will pray that you feel better this time around.
Well, I get my first Taxol this Thursday...a little worried about new side effects.
How I wish I could come visit you, it's going to be below zero this week with wind chills close to -25! This is the time I miss my hair!
-
Sorry about the weather, it was 80 here today, I was in an air conditioned room getting chemo so I didn;t enoy it as much as I should have. It is hot and I am getting braver not wearing my hat. But not much. GOtta go eat, trying to keep weight on. Talk soon Kristi
-
Weight...I have the same issues...I lost 5 lbs last week. I try to eat as much as possible. The good thing is that I can usually eat whatever I want! 80 degrees? I'm jealous!
-
Tired, sad, cranky, need to eat, nothing sounds good, think I will take a nap. (3rd day away from chemo) could you tell. Kristi, It is really hot here. My WI sister is coming on Saturday, she will probably be wearing her bathing suit. We don't even like it this hot this time of year. Take care Kristi
-
Hey...I had my taxol on Thursday..couldn't be more sore. Not so fun, I took off of work today. Again, I'm jealous, I just bought new swimsuits for my upcoming honey moon, and I wish I could use them! The wind chill got down to -40 on Friday. I think our high is about 22 today. Hang in there!
-
Mela, How are you, I have not been on in a couple of weeks, just overwhelmed with living. Ya taxol is rough. I hope you are handling it better now. I had my 5th TAC to day, only one more to go, in late February. I am wiped. I just try to survive these next 11 days. When is the wedding? Will you be done with all treatment? Radiation? I am thinking of you. Kristi in San Diego, we are expecting rain on Thursday.
-
I'm sorry Kristi I haven't been on in a long time either. Taxol is rough...ER the other weekend, fever all this weekend. Only one more to go! The wedding is on April 4, and I got my wig! No radiation for me. How are things going with you? Weather here was in the high 50s last week, but back to snow this week...I just want summer to come!
-
Mela
How funny, because I also have not been on for quite a while but just went on this evening. I am doing OK, sorry to hear about you and Taxol. It can mess with your emotions so don't let it get you down. I think that is the drug that makes me cry for a day, the 8th day after chemo, every time. I hope you can put all your energy into your wedding and not think to much about cancer. I also have a wig and in fact I wore it for the first time this weekend. We visited my son, met him half way from college in Santa Barbara. I decided I did not want people looking at me so I decided to wear it to the restaurants we went to. We had many laughs about it and possible pulling it off just for fun.
I hope you stay cheerful...and have lots of fun these next few weeks! Kristi My last chemo is on the 23rd then 5-6 weeks of radiation...ick...
-
HAHA about the wig. I told my dad that I didn't know how I was going to keep it on the whole night of the wedding...he said to just take it off....everyone knows your bald anyway! We make a lot of jokes about it. Possible 9 in of snow tonight....ahhhhh! Good luck w your last chemo mine is on the 26th.
-
I bet you are getting the wedding jitters! A few more days and you are done done done with chemo, yeah...today I finished my last chemo! I am so happy to be over with it.
My sister in law is getting married at the end of April so I got to go with her to the wedding dress fitting, what fun.....I loved it....hope you are having a ton of fun! Kristi
PS I saw my wedding dress in the closet enclosed and sealed in a box. I kind of wanted to peak at it but I think I will wait to see if my daughter would some day would like to use a part of it.
I am so happy for you. good luck on Friday..Kristi
-
WOW CONGRATS! You are done with chemo! So I'm I! It was an emotional day...I cried on the way out the door, it's just so overwhelming! The wedding plans are in full force...I'm getting ready for the big day. I can't wait to be in Mexico and to be able to relax! I'm sure your daughter would love to use your dress some day! What is your next step in treatment?

WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that it is amazing............There were times I wasn't sure if I was going to. But it is behind us. We can marvel at our accomplishment. I get to do radiation, aren't I lucky! I am getting mapped on March 17th and then will start radiation either the end of that week or the next. I plan to do it for about 5 1/2 weeks, Monday thru Friday. It is cumulative, but usually just makes you tired, and sunburn. I am doing it because one of my bad nodes was not encapsulated. They hope to get any random cells that the chemo didn't get.
SO with that behind us, you are probably getting so excited. How are you doing, is everything done for the wedding. Wish I could see you in your pretty dress. Are you having a outdoor wedding, or inside, big or little, food or just cake. It has been 22 years, but I still remember it vividly. Good luck with all the plans Kristi
-
Yay for us! I wish you the best with radiation. Hopefully it will go easier than chemo.
My wedding is pretty much set! We are having an indoor wedding and invited over 500 it will be crazy! Lots of food, lots of cake, lots of dancing. It will be a big celebration. I will post pics after the wedding!
My PET scan is today. I'm hoping for the best!
Melissa

Oh my gosh.......500 people.......that is some kind of party. Hope your scan went well. Glad you decided on inside vs. out, who knows what the weather will do? It has been absolutely beautiful here, sorry to brag but it was great. My sweat peas are about 4 inches high. and my Iris are also blooming. I am sure by the time you get back from the honeymoon, flowers will be growing for you to. Kristi
-
Oh I'm so ready for spring! And, my scan was good...all clear! I'm so excited!
-
I am so glad that your scans were clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you. It has been beautiful here, flowers blooming and sunshine. We made a big commitment yesterday.....we got a dog. We had to put our golden retriever down in Ocotber, the same week I had surgery, ick. But this new dog is a Mexico rescue dog. He has, who knows what in him. I think a bit of border collie, and airdale terrier, but also lots of other stuff. He is a sweet dog and seems to be adjusting quite nice. His new name is McCoy and he is 5 months old. We are going to be busy here. Hope all the wedding plans are going well! Kristi
-
Mellisa,
Are you a married woman? How did everthing go? I look forward to here about it!!!!!!!! Kristi
-
Mellisa,
Welcome home!!! You are a married woman, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read your post on your web site. The wedding and the honeymoon sounded great. I am doing well, at my half way mark of radiation. Good luck on getting caught up with the world...it keeps moving. I look forward to pictures! Kristi
-
Hey sorry I've been so busy! I'm a married woman and I just loved Mexico. I want to go back! Glad to hear that you are half way done with radiation! WHOOO HOOO! I don't have too many wedding pics back yet, but I have a few. Do you know how to post?
-
Hello,
No I don't know how to post on this web site, I will check them out on your other blog. Glad you made it home safe. What is your medical situation now.....any more treatment? They are putting me on tamoxifen after I am done with radiation. Talk soon Kristi
-
No more treatment for me, except I'll be on Tamoxifen by the end of May as well. How is radiation going? There are so many things going on right now, I'm speaking at the Relay for Life in my area at the end of the month. Thinking about seeing a counselor at the breast center that I was treated at...there are so many things to think about. I feel like I just need life to slow down a bit. Hope you are doing well.
-
What a great picture! Wow you are married. That is so great. Radiation is done and I am feeling great. I am also on Tamoxefin, so far no problems, just hot flashes. I have been exercising, walked for over an hour yesterday....trying to get all my strength back. We are going to Alaska (cruise) in mid June. Wish we were leaving tomorrow. Take care of your self talk soon Kristi
-
Glad to hear that you are done with radiation and moving on! I have a few night sweats and hot flashes as well, but otherwise the meds are going good for me too! I'm jealous of your cruise (even though we just went vacation)! Dan really wants to go on an Alaskan cruise some day, you will have to tell me how it goes! My hair is coming in like crazy! No more scarves!
-
Hi Mela,
I have had fun looking at your web page, I saw all your pictures they are great. It sounds like your life is getting back to YOUR's. I am so happy and hope that no other cancer ever has your name on it. Life in San Diego is great. My 20 year old son is home from college and my daughter (17) is also here. We took the kids and saw Star Trek at the movies today....what fun...just like old times when they were young.
We leave for Alaska on June 19th YEah Yeah Yeah Kristi I will fill you in when we get back.
-
Hey! I'm so glad you got to check out my website! I have some wedding pictures on another website if you want to check it out. www.photosbyjenniferb.com Just click on the View Proof Collection and click on Auer/Woulf wedding. It must be nice to have your kids home. Dan and I saw Star Trek and loved it as well! I really hope that your trip is amazing! It will be so great to get away for a while. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and a wonderful time in Alaska! I can't wait to see pictures!
-
Mela,
I understand that you are looking at houses to live in....what fun. I hope you find something. I also understand you are going through surgery, hope it is nothing big? I have been on Tamoxifen for over a month and other than hot flashes it is not bad. I am relieved because my tumor was very ER/PR reactive (positive) 88% and 85%. My hair has started to grow back and I am sometimes not wearing a hat. That's a big deal for me. I also wear a lot of ruffles. & big earrings...I don't want people to get the wrong idea with my butch hair cut.
I hope your hair is growing back also. Take care Kristi
-
HAHA ruffles and earrings. I do the same thing! I went shopping with my friend a few weeks ago...and her kids. I was worried someone got the wrong idea about the two of us. Anyway, we put an offer in on a house today, we are waiting to see how it's going to turn out! Tamoxifen is going ok, a hot flash here and there. Are you back from Alaska? How was it!?
