So Stressed!

My mom was diagnosed with metastatic IBC (mets to bone) in September/October. Since then she has been put through everything, chemo, bi-lateral mastectomy and radiation. She has handled it all like a trooper! Well, the day before her birthday in mid April she found out she had brain mets. After three WBR radiation she was down and out. She was admitted to the hospital where she completed WBR and then a nursing/rehab facility because she has lost the ability to walk. I have a brother who lives 6 hours away and a sister who is about 20 minutes from me. Somehow though, it has all fallen on me. The calls from Dr's, family members, social security, taking care of the dog, writing out her bills, you name it! On top of it all I try and see her 4-5 times a week. I have a home and 2 jobs and I am soooo close to snapping! Anyone else feel this way? Thanks for listening.

Hello Jadai
Well My Mom has been diagnosed with stage 2 breats cancer. She went to her first chemo treatment yesterday. I am married with two children. I am doing the same thing you are doing. I have been sending my 10 year old off to school in the morning and then off to my mom's with my 10 month old. My mother lives about a half hour away from me. My dad has been trying to be there for her but has to go to work. I help her with allot since she can not be next to the stove or any kind of heat for that matter since they took most of her lymph nodes. She had a single mastecomy. I help her out and then come home to take care fo my family, make dinner check home work give baths you name it. I at times want to scream and just stop but I have been going to the gym and letting out my fustrations. I think you need an outlet, just for you if its just an hour or 10 min! beleive me it helps!

Thanks Moni! Actually I have taken up running in the past 3 months and it definitely helps. I can't think of much else as I gasp for air, haha. My mom has deteriorated quickly and now I am making important health care decisions on top of it all. It is so difficult and we, as caretakers, often forget to take care of ourselves. Thanks for the post and I wish you, your mom and family a victory over this disease and a speedy recovery!!!
