Anyone starting chemo in Aug. 08?

Well, I see the neurologist tomorrow morning. Not only do I feel dizzy several times a day, but my right arm is numb, so going to have that checked out.
Radiation fatigue is really sidelining me this week. I spent most of my birthday in bed.
Roya, good for you for making the appointment for your mammo. Mine is July 2.
Corrine, way to go with the walk and being right up front!.
My Dx day is June 17. Maybe Tom will take me out to celebrate survival!
Bette

Corrine, Love the picture and it's good to see that you were in the front. I was also in the front of our relay for life walk here in Tucson.
Jeannine~ Good to hear from you and you are in my prayers and i'm with you on the can't take anymore worrying part.
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY----- IT'S MY BIRTHDAY------ AHA! AHA! LOL...LOL..LOL
Well girls it's almost 12 midnight and it will be my BIRTHDAY 36 yrs old and I'm so thankful that i am here another year. I will be celebrating my Birthday in Rocky Point. I will be leaving this Friday and can't wait I am so excited. You girls have a good day. I'm gonna try to go to sleep.
-
Bette and MamaKaren - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Hope you both had great ones!!!! Loves to all...........
-
Alibug, Thanks for the congrats! I had a quiet birthday, resting due to radiation fatigue. Tom surprised me with a pair of Birkenstocks. Didn't expect a man to know the importance of shoes!
Today I saw the neurologist, who referred me to Ear Nose and Throat. I am definitely dizzy, but he is hoping it is inner ear, and not something like MS. Meanwhile I have medication and PT to help me live with the dizziness. I didn't know that certain exercises help dizziness, but apparently so.
Homework is finished. Time for a nap. Am hoping to get up and have a nice dinner for Tom when he comes home from work.
Hugs to all,
Bette

Mamakaren and Bettelou, Happy Birthday! Hope you are feeling better.
Corinne, looking great! What a leader you are!!
Jeannine, I'm glad your mammo came out well, now for the DMX, I know you'll feel safer when that happens. Recon has been pretty easy so far.
Prayers and hugs,
Deen

Bette and Karen ~ I just wanted to wish you both a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and many, many more!
Corinne ~ Cute photo! Why are your arms crossed? Was it cool, or was that because you weren't happy being photographed? And Lisa, your little girl is so adorable!
Jeannine ~ Congrats on the clear mammo! And the next time we get together, we'll definitely plan ahead more and let you and Karen (in Tucson) know about it. We already talked about it.
Roya ~ I now have to have an ultrasound on the same day you have your mammo -- for a lumpy thing I've felt for a couple of weeks and decided to show my rad onc today, who looked a bit too concerned for my comfort, and ordered an ultrasound. It's probably nothing, but it's just frustrating because I was just starting to not think about bc as much, and was feeling noticeably more relaxed and happy after my clear mammo last month. As I told my DH today, I am just so tired of this whole bc thing. I just want my old life back, as know we all do... Deanna

Hi everyone, I had an awsome Birthday today. I had a little party and had lots of family and lots of presents. I got stuff for my little getaway it was very nice. My poor Husband was sick in bed with the flu or some kind of bug for the past two days. He felt very bad he couldn't be there.
Bette Happy Birthday!!! Hope you feel better.
Deanna I think that would be just great if that were to happen. Us getting together. I'm praying that everything is good for you. It's like a nightmare that never goes away ha. I wonder if it is ever possible that bc victims ever get to live a normal life without ever thinking about the stupid "What IF's" Docs say that we should live our lives as we have before but they have no clue how hard that is. They don't even know what we feel. Sometimes I would like to have a doc that is a cancer survivor so that they know what we are going through.
Jeannine where do you live??
-
Deanna. I am praying for you girl that everything goes well. Yes, I also know the agony of waiting and I hope that it is not.... However, the best thing I have found is not to think about it and just fill my life each day with all the blessings God gives. Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.
Roya, I hope you are not too stressed in waiting for your mamo. We are all with you in spirit!!!
Karen, How is your Mom? I pray for you both. It has been a rough year for you.
Lashon, I hope your chemo today went well. You rest up girl
Lisa, We are all trusting the Lord to pull you through all of this. We have a GREAT God who is a GREAT physician.
Love you all. If you can go to my facebook site you will see some pics of my family tagged in our relay photo. Look for me....Corinne Birkholz Just let me know that you are my bc sister!! I think I am going to take a trek to RI to retape my testimony. I was kind of sad that they goofed in the recording of it however I was asked to rerecord it.
Anyhow, I hope all is well!!! Hugs to you all!!!

Hi everybody!
Thought I'd post a quick hi before I read through and get caught up. I've been sucked in by Facebook and spend most of my internet time on there! Also been busy having our new house built. I went on my trip to Disney World in March with my sister and it was fabulous! Did the survivor lap at the Relay for Life on Friday. My hair is about an inch long now.
I'm wondering what you all have for follow up? I have blood work and oncologist appointment tomorrow, then mammogram on Monday. Apparently I'm having a Pap every 6 months. Just wondering if there's anything I should be asking the onc about tomorrow. Maybe a muga scan, any supplements I should be taking. I'm taking Tamoxifen and it's been ok, not much for side effects, a little bit of "warm" flashes, not too bad.
Now to get caught up!
-
Deanna, my prayers are with you through this worrying time. My PS did warn me about calcifications showing up later, maybe this is what this is.
Mamakaren, I'm so glad you had a nice birthday.
alibug, I see your FB page and it seems like you just don't stop! Ha!
I need some of that energy!
Corinne, I'm glad you're going back to record, I think you will be happier if you do.
Deidre, my hair is about 3/4" now(last chemo Jan 21), I also had FEC(hated it!), you gave me some tips for it awhile back. I need to see my onc soon, she said she will do bloodwork and start tx on bone density problems that she thinks I'll have. I'm on Tamox too, with little SEs, too.
I had my implant exchange and hyster/oopherectomy on June 2, and everything is healing nicely, love my softer foobs and nips! Taking it easy.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Friday all,
The weather is so gloomy and ugly here in CA. BUT it's Friday and I'm playing Bunko tonight w/the girls(Ever play? So fun) This is my "Calgon get me away" night after a crazy work week.
BETTE & MAMMAK: I truly hope the both of you had a wonderful blessed birthday & MANY MORE
I know you weren't feeling well Bette. I hope that dizziness subsides. Maybe you're doing too much w/school and RADS?
MAMAK: I live in Whittier, CA. About 12 miles east of Los Angeles. I would love to meet up with you and Deanna again. It is so special to meet and talk with someone who's been in our shoes. Just let me know!
DEANNA: I completely hear you about this darn 800 lb. gorrila we live with daily. Sometimes I wake up in tears and wonder "Will it ever get better?" "How long am I going to be in remission?" Ugh...I'm sending POSITIVE thoughts and prayers your way. Hopefully like Deen said, it's just a calcification or scar tissue?
Corrine: I will check your Facebook out. I'm on there too under Jeannine Aresti (I still haven't uploaded my Revlon pix though. I'm so bad).
Deen: Glad to hear you're recovering great. I can't wait until I get my new boobies. ? Are you experiencing any SE's from the Oopherectomy? That's next on my To Do List.
Wishing you all a great weekend.
Love & Prayers
Jeannine

Hello ladies,,the latest,,,,,just got home from being in the operating room. My darn surgery site where the tumors were removed got infected. They rushed me into the OR and took the bone out of my skull,,cleaned it,,and washed me out. That was yesterday. I am home now strapped to an IV pole with antibiotics. Twice a day,,for 6 weeks. I am doing really good. I keep poppong back really quickly,,,and believing in healing. I have to wait on my boobs AGAIN
Soooo disapointed,,,but am happy to have my family (my moms a nurse) and have soooo much support around me.
I am pretty tired. HAPPY B-DAY Bette and Karen. Love you all.Lisa
-
Lisa, I'm still praying for you to get healed fast. I know you want your boobs soon, so please take care of yourself. It's great your mom is a nurse!
Jeannine, I'm just a little sore from the oopher/hysterectomy. Today was the first day I felt better in my abdomen area. I don't have feeling in my foob area, so that doesn't bother me. I hope you get yours soon! I'm going to check out your FB page if it's alright.

Happy Birthday Karen & Bette, birthdays - I'm grateful to celebrate adding those years!
Deen, I am wondering what kind of surgery you had - was it laproscopic? I will probably have a hysterectomy next fall. Glad you are recovering well.
Lisa, really been thinking about you and so glad for your great support system. Rest up!
Deanna, I KNOW it's gonna be fine and am thinking of you so much - just get through Tuesday and get this behind you. PM me with any news, OK?
Misty, is school out yet? I lost count of your days left!
I got a haircut - I've decided I like it short! I thought I'd never get a cut. But I did add some blond highlights and feel way younger! And it'll be way easier in Brazil. I leave Monday for 7 weeks - will be presenting leadership workshops to my client using a lot of outdoor activities in the rainforest. But I should be able to get online and will stay in touch. Love & hugs, Gail
-
Hey Girls!
Happy Birthday to the b'day ladies who have celebrated on in the past week.
Lisa, so sorry to hear about your setback-you sound like you keep fighting back!! Keep it up!!
Deanna, I am sure everything will turn out to be fine. I am sure they are being extra careful!!
Gail, wow, seven weeks-I think you are getting out of the desert just in time. I am out of school this Friday, which coincides with the dreaded phone call I got last year from my exc. biop. So, I am ready for that day to be over!!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
~Misty
-
Misty1, have a glass of champagne on Friday night!
Gail, I had the laproscopic oopher/hysterectomy. Ovaries, tubes, and uterus. It was on June 2, and I went back to work the next Monday. Just sore around the lower abdomen, but not even enough for pain pills, which I was afraid would constipate me, which makes the soreness worse! I'm not allowed to excercise yet, because of the new ones getting jarred, but I'm walking as much as possible to keep fit. The scars are teeny weeny cuts, less than an inch, two at my bikini line on the sides(about the middle of each leg), and a dot in my belly button. My abdomen is a little bloated, and I hope that goes away! I actually posted pics on the pic forum, so others could see what it looks like after surgery.
I hope you have a great time in Brazil!
Deen
-
Hi everyone,
Deen, glad that you are feeling much better.
Gail, I also like my hair short and plan to keep it that way.
Lisa, hope you are feeling better. Yes, you are blessed indeed to have a nurse for a mom!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I go for my mammo tomorrow and I will show up for it this time!
-
Gail ~ Have a wonderful time in Brazil! I'm envious!
Roya ~ I know you won't cancel your mammo this time, and I'll be praying for you. I know how scary it can be, but we just have to get through them. Hopefully, they'll give you the "all clear" while you're there, so that you won't have to wait for results.
Bette ~ Any further word on the dizziness? When do you see the ear, nose & throat doctor?
Diedre ~ Fear of being sucked in is exactly why I haven't gotten on Facebook! I already spend waaaay too much time on BCO! But I really want to see everyone's photos, so I'm sure I'll do it one of these days.Deen ~ Glad to hear you're healing so well from your surgery. You went back to work really fast!
Misty ~ So glad school is almost out. What are you doing over the summer?
Jeannine ~ I think Bunko is a California thing -- at least I'd never heard of it until we moved here.
I have my ultrasound tomorrow. At first, I was thinking what I feel couldn't be scar tissue because it's not on an external scar. But then I realized that it's along the lower inner border of where my BS removed breast tissue, so probably is scar tissue, although not a visible scar. Oh, well... it is what it is, and I'll be relieved to have them look at it. I just don't want any more needles, and I can't remember if they do contrast dye for an u/s???
(((Hugs))) to all, and Lisa, I'm going to PM you. Deanna
-
Deanna and Roya, my prayers are with you two tommorrow for great results!!!!
Deen
-
Thanks to my BC sisters for all the encouragement. I did make it to my mammo today. I am very much encouraged about the outcome because last time I was held over for ultrasound confirmation and this time I was not~!!!
-
Roya, woohoo!
Deen
-
WooHoo, Roya! That's great news! You said "encouraged." Does that mean you still have to wait for a final report?
My u/s went great. I loved the radiologist who was extremely thorough. When I told him that I'd had multicentric lobular, he took a really long time with the u/s, and he also answered all of my questions about the cysts he was finding, which was extremely reassuring. I was there almost 2 hours because he also requested multiple magnifying mammos after the u/s, and then they have you wait for the results. But the conclusion was multiple cysts, which he said is common after rads -- especially when we've had a lot of lymph nodes removed. Anyway, I'm obviously very relieved. And I really appreciated the prayers, which kept me amazingly calm. Deanna
-
Deanna and Roya, I am thrilled with your news!!! I feel like a milestone has been reached. It is really funny how we all tend to carry each others burdens.
Has anyone heard about the trial on one year versus 2 years of Herceptin yet??? I would like to find out if there has been any info.
Going for Herceptin tomorrow. Scared about a lymph node under my right arm. My PET scan as far as I know did not show up anything there 2 weeks ago so I am hoping its nothing.
Karen how are you doing?
Bette how is the dizziness?
Gail so happy for your trip. HAVE FUN
Lisa, Hope you are gaining strength.
Love to you alll
-
Today is the one year anniversary of my initial Dx. Praise the Lord for one year!
I am tired and still have occasional dizziness. The appointment with the ENT doctor is tomorrow afternoon. Hoping that he will find a simple cause for the dizziness.
I had a CT scan of my chest today to check on the spot on my left lung. They said the doctor would have the report on Friday.
Tom is working at his new job, and the extra funds are welcome. They have him working 11-7, so he sleeps a lot during the day. Sometimes I get lonely and go in and cuddle up beside him. It will take awhile to adapt to this schedule.
Lisa you are in my prayers. You have such a fantastic attitude!
We are survivors. We are beating this!
Bette

Deanna i'm so glad that you have some kind of relief and and peace.
roya- I'm more than sure that you are gonna be good that's what happen to me when i went and i was good.
Corrine I'm doing ok. I had a doc appt today and I left really worried and haven't been at ease. He said that everything looks really good but ....... my protein levels were a little high and he was gonna test my blood to see if it was ok. He said he wasn't worried and that it was probably nothing. I guess they can test to see if it is good protein or bad protein. All I know is that my spirits feel down and i'm crapping in my pants. Well it's in Gods hands and i'm just hanging on to my bestfriend in the world. My God and my faith. I don't even know what all this protein stuff means and i'm afraid to learn stuff. Even though i know that knowledge is power but i'm a big chicken.
Bette- HOpe you feel better.
On a good note i had a great time in Rocky Point. I got to ride a horse on the beach It was heaven so peaceful. I also got on a big boat ride.
Love you guys and hope everyone is filled with peace and tranquility Lord knows I could use some.
-
GREAT news, Deanna and Roya!! I am so glad you both got to hear something so good this week.
Corinne, I just asked my onc last week about one year of Hercpeptin. I have two left; I will finish on 7/23. He said there is no research to support going beyond one year.
Everyone, I finish school tomorrow!!! Can't wait.
~Misty
-
Corinne, have you received any info about that lump under your right arm? I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts.
Mamakaren, I am praying for you as well with regards to the protein levels.
Bette, hope your dizziness subsides soon!
Misty, congrats on finishing school !!!!!!
I received the phone call today that assures me that my mammogram is normal!
Ladies, yes, we have been through sooooo much together....all the prayers, caring, love, and support that we have shared with one another, some of us for nearly a year! We have truly become sisters in its most beautiful meaning.
-
Roya, Great news about your mammogram!
I had my CT scan on Wednesday to see if the lesion on my left lung is still there. Tomorrow I am calling to find out what the report is.
Today was my appointment with the ENT doctor to investigate my dizziness. He did not find a simple cause, which was disappointing. He ordered more tests.
It's hard to believe, but my summer course is nearly over! Lots of writing to do this weekend. So far I have an A!
Hugs and prayers to all my BC sisters!
Bette
-
Karen I understand how you are feeling. it REALLY could be nothing. o hang in there my friend we are all in this together with you!!
Roya: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR Mamo!!!! We rejoice with you. Are you still in Paris or are you back in the states
Bette: Did anyone say anuthing about exercise and low blood pressure causing dizziness? How are you doing on your exercise?
Misty: Congratulations on finishing school . I am glad to hear that about Herceptin. However, when I went to my dr yesterday she told me she had heard nothing about it at the meeting. Was not sure why. I am going to check with Gentec and find out ig they extended the research on it for longer.
Anyhow, PRAISE GOD ....my lump is nothing to worry about on my right arm. Yippeeee!!!
-
Deanna, Woohoo on good u/s results! Isn't it great to have someone who really seems to care about doing their job thoroughly and compassionately?
Roya, congrats again! Must be a load off your shoulders!
Bette, hope you get some answers for your dizziness.
Misty, congrats on school finishing!
Corinne, weird, but I feel a lump under my left arm, and I just got through making an appt with my onc to check it out! I hope to get a PET scan, just for peace of mind.
Hope everyone has a great weekend,
Deen
