In March of 2009 I was diagnosed with the same cancer I had 3 years ago only this time instead of my breast the cancer is in my lymph nodes in my chest wall.  I am currently undergoing chemo.  I am looking for someone in the Cleveland, Ohio area who may be going thru the same thing.

Hi, Twinsburg.  I'm in Cuyahoga County, west side.  I get my care at the Clinic, main campus.  I was dx with 3neg stage 2B in 2005, and a recurrence in Nov. 07 to the mediastinal lymph nodes (around the lungs).  I had six treatments of carboplatin and taxotere with a great response, and I've been off chemo for just over a year.  In January I had a small brain met, and had gamma knife for it.  Then in April, I was treated for a spine and a rib met.  I just had lots of scans last week, and I've got a little progression, including a small pleural effusion, a swollen neck node, and a cough.  The onc said it's probably time to go back on chemo, and the plan is Xeloda.  I elected to wait until the next scans, in early August.

    Hi Analemma,

So good to hear from someone who can relate.  I go to UH at Chagrin Highlands.  My question for you is how did you do mentally after the 2nd diagnosis?  I am on zoloft which has helped.  My first time around in 2006 I did great mentally.  Very positive and ready to kick butt.  This time around has been much more difficult for me to accept.  I have done 5 treatments.  After 4 we did a cat scan and a bone scan and my tumors shrunk in half.  I have 3 more to do and hopefully they will be gone.  I am doing taxatere and Gemzar.  Did you do any support groups at Gathering Place?  I went to one last week and it was for reoccurance.  Only one person there and it was a very sobbering experience as that group had lost 4 men in a row.  We talked alot about dying and I just left feeling very sad and don't think it's the group for me.  I have many friends who are going thru breast cancer for the first time.  Having someone to relate with it reoccuring has been more difficult to find.  I am 52 and have 2 girls one 20 and 17.  I am not willing to give up and I will fight with all my might.  Have you looked into any clinical trials?  Thanks for letting me know your story.  How are you doing?
