Why are there much less ILC than IDC?

This question might sound either crazy or ridiculous....but when I was taking a walk after dinner someday this question suddenly came up.

Is cancer much easier to grow in duct? The cells in lobule are harder to mutate?

Before I got BC I even didn't know there are duct and lubule in breast and what function they perform...we don't know our body well.

I don't know the answer to this, but I did hear something interesting. Dr. Larry Norton of MSKCC and a member of the board of BC.org, said that ALL breast cancers begin at the juncture between the lobule and the duct. Why some of them develop on the lobule side rather than the ductal side, I don't know.

    Hi, nagem,

Did they actually find where the BC begin with? interesting!

Somebody said I always ask questions that even the doctors/scientist don't know...hmmmm

Lucky - Asking questions that even the doctors/scientists know is a SIGN OF INTELLIGENCE!

I think the question of why ILC is rarer than IDC is a VERY GOOD QUESTION... inquiring minds... want to know!

    Hi, Laura,

:) Thanks! You make me feel better .....I just want to know what happened in my body...:) ...I am curious....

I am also thinking if we figured out why BC happens in duct much more than lubule, we could have more knowlegdge of breast cancer and cure it. What do you think? *a big smile*
