got hair cut yesterday
I woke up yesterday and told my hubby ok im ready to finnally get my hair cut, im 12 days post chemo, and i had long blonde hair to my butt and havint cut it in years, but i knew that it was going to start falling out any time and didint want hair all over the house so i did it, and i cryed, but i was surprised that i actually liked it better than i thought, and all my friends said i looked 20 years younger, now im a young 54, but people always said i looked a lot younger, i like to have fun and dance and always felt young, so now im thinking even tho this look isnt going to last long, maybe when it starts growing back it will look even better, so for the first time, im thinking positive and hopefully this will help other woman that a change can somtimes be good, and i hear your hair comes back even stronger and softer than before, this was the one thing i dreaded the most and now i am ok with this= hugs debbie

Good for you Debbie! Yay for the positve thinking.

Hugs. Even with all the awful things that go one with this disease, there are some good and positive things that happen (if you're open to them). Not all changes are necessarily bad, just scary. Best wishes for you during treatment. My prayers are with you.

I remember cutting my hair before it fell out was so difficult for me. It was hard, but I was glad to take action.
My hair has grown back wonderfully. It's short, curly (never had that before) and super soft. You'll love yours, too. Congrats on maintaining such a great attitude!

Way to go! The time will go quickly. Good luck through your tx.

It is a hard thing as a woman to lose her hair. You sound so positive that is half the battle. It will grow back just as nice or even nicer. I have really curly hair now. Had to learn how fix it, never had short hair, or curly hair! Keep the positive thoughts and make the best out of it, have fun with your new hair!
God Bless.

I remeber gettin my hair cut on day 21 or so after 1st TC....it was almost empowering! I'm happy to report I am close to ten weeks out of my last chemo and I am going to get my hair cut and colored tomorrow!!!! I wwill really just be getting it trimmed so it's al the same (very short) length...but I never thought this day would come!!!!
Good luck to you....and soon you will be on the other side!!!

Keep up the positive thinking Debbie..you never know..you may decide to wear a shorter hairdo when it comes back in. My hair was long also...and now it's back to my shoulders. It came in the same texture as before...except that it is curly. It seems to be straightening some now. I kind like the curl...putting in some product..and drying with a diffuser...I can have a nice sexy curly hairdo...or I use a straightening iron...and have silky straight hair. My co-workers, never know how I will show up to work!
Have fun with all of it....it's a positive in so many negatives about this dx.

Alo...I did the same as you...when it was really short, just coming in,and very grey with some pepper..lol..I went to my hairdresser..he trimmed it up...it looked so much better, and then I got it colored! I really didn't mind it being barely 1/2 inch long!

thank you all for your well wishes and hugs, yesterday was day 14 and my hair is shedding already, today i barely brushed my hand over it and a lot came out, and i was really liking my short hair, ha! go fiqure!
Alo123- You mentioned that you are 10 weeks post chemo and you already have hair growing out so you can color it, did i understand that right? If so, that is so great, im on tc as well, maybe all my hair wont fall out, but if it does i will handle it, also i lived in waikii for 10 years, i miss it.
angel hugs debbie

I think you have really hit on something for everyone to remember...short hair is like short nails...just because they are short doesn't mean we should ignore them. Its ok to get trims and color (if ok on treatment) etc. Its amazing what a trim will do to appearance and how you feel. For YEARS I have worn my hair very short by choice. Short does not have to mean unkept or unattractive!
-
Your so right EWB- infact i think short hair looks more kept, and for me more attractive, when i finish chemo and start to grow my hair back i will keep it short and not long like i had before, had this not happened i would of never cut my hair and would of always looked 10 years older ha!
hugs debbie
