Anyone watch the movie "Living Proof"?

Netflix says...
"Based on a true story, this biopic follows medical researcher Dr. Dennis Slamon's (Harry Connick Jr.) tireless efforts to win FDA approval for Herceptin, now recognized as an important weapon against breast cancer. Convinced his experimental medication is the key to treating the deadly disease, he first must contend with skeptical backers, critically ill patients and the complicated trial process to prove the drug can save lives."
My view is that it is worth watching but not interesting to someone who hasn't had cancer. The story is good and very informative. A few scenes hit close to home and you cannot help but get weepy. Many things about the whole FDA approval process I didn't know and just didn't think about.
I wish they would have paid more attention to detail. It's distracting that they didn't. Even the turbaned women have too much hair peeking out. Most of the women appear to have breasts and are showing too much cleavage for even the best reconstruction. You'd think at least one woman would have shaved her eyebrows 'for her art'.I love the woman who plays 'Stiffler's Mother', Jennifer Coolidge and she stays to character as the balsy woman I'd want to have as a friend.
Tell me what you think.

Wow! You sure have a keen eye for detail! I had my treatment @ UCLA. In fact, I was still in treatment when the film first aired, so it was especially real to me, although I think I also noticed a lot of hair under those turbans!
In addition to the difficulty of getting drugs moved from research to market, I think the thing that struck me the most is how much Dr. Slamon, and surely others like him, give up personally to ensure that their research moves forward. It's been a few months since I saw the film, but I remember having even more respect for my docs and all they do after seeing it. Their passion and dedication to their work, often at the expense of time with their families/children, is truly inspiring, and something that hadn't occured to me prior to seeing Living Proof. Deanna

This movie is showing again right now on Lifetime... for some reason I've bawled several times already in the less-than-an-hour that it's been on. I hadn't seen this before... so glad it finally came on again. Although, Sphynx, like you, I've noticed little details like that... little things like, a woman is diagnosed with cancer from a mammogram and is sent straight to an oncologist for chemo... um, no biopsy? But, it doesn't distract too much from the story... definitely well worth watching!!

Oh, I'm glad it is showing on Lifetime. I hope more people get a chance to watch it. I'm pretty sure I got it from Netflix.
Thanks for bumping this.

I bought the movie just before my TCH #3 when I was at my lowest point...just seeing what an incredible drug Herceptin is and what Dr. Slamon had to go through to even go to trial was such an eye opener for me that when it was time for tx #3, I went to my appointment with a better appreciation of how lucky I am to have Herceptin in my tool box and full of a hope that had been missing in earlier treatments.
I will admit it truly pissed me off with how 'pretty' everyone was during treatment, not one person was bald, bloated, had a port or was flat chested but again I was feeling pretty low at the time. Now whenever I am feeling down or discouraged I will watch Living Proof to remind me what a gift it is to have all those wonderful people fighting on my behalf so that I could have this drug available when I needed it and it does give me hope that there are others out there still fighting...
