Your babies are beautiful!  Jones looks just like my Murphy!  He is such a comfort to me.  He doesn't care if I'm bald or tired.  He lays with me when I lay down, always touching to make sure mommy is all right.  He makes me laugh with his rip-arounds and sneak attacks.  I found him as a stray on Christmas day and I know God gave him to me.

Glad you are enjoying this thread and the positive affect it is having on you.

Courage and strength do to what we have to do.

Wow...I've read through these poem and am so glad I stumbled onto this thread.  I've always written down thought and feelings and even though I'm no poet...lol  I'll share one I wrote with you.

Just have to say so many of yours have touched me deeply...

When I first heard the word cancer,

    I laid my head back

    Let those words sink in...

Then I looked up and saw my husbands eyes,

and the inner peace came back....

That peace that passes all understanding...

And I whispered, "Praise you Father"

I've walked in His light for many a year...

And gently, so gently he's removed the fear.

    These sufferings cannot compare

To the glory I'll see when I persevere.

Is it my strength, am I that strong? Lord no!

It's comes from above, it leads me where I should go...

I know from the past to bear patiently this cross of pain

And leave to my God to order and provide... because I know

    He'll faithfully remain...

                                                               by my side.

I wrote this the day after my surgery.   When I was laying on the gurney preparing for my surgery is when the doctor told us the cancer dx.

arnie, thank you for your poem, your story and your inspitation.  If God would not take the "cup" from Jesus, He will not take "this cup" from me but I know that He is with me every step of the way.  I know that He will see me through.  I share your feeling.

    Finding Peace

Let me know peace for this I pray

As I stumble blindly along life's way

You give me freedom to make my choice

But when will I learn to hear Your voice?

As a child is guided by a loving touch

I need the same still just as much

    How wide Your shoulders

    How safe Your hands

    How deep the wisdom

    Will I understand?

Will I learn to trust what You show to me?

Will I open my eyes, will I ever see?

    Every step I take

    Every thought and deed

    Are empty alone

    It is You I need

    His....

    His my joy,

    His my light.

    His my Strength

    and my sight.

His my friend when I'm low.

His my Savior, I love him so.

    Poetic Justice

I've seen the sun rise above a desert sand

Turning it pink and then white again

I've seen it crawling up against the night

It illumines the shadows, silhouettes the flight

Of an eagle soaring It is only fair

That earthbound wings should warn the hare

The race is on the signal heard

The hare is no match for this ravenous bird

The raptor glides while funneling speed

As bounding hare weaves through tumbleweed

Sharp razor talons against padded paws

When nature hunts there are no laws

The rabbit veers the canny one

The eagle is blinded by the rising sun

I can hardly fathom the infinity
of the world beyond our sight

    Hi Pantufus,

You are a genius .I have been reading poetry about breast cancer ever since I aws diagnosed in Dec '03. If You would like me to I will send you a list (short) of what I found. Unlike you I have not had the courage or talent to write any myself but I read poetry most nights before I sleep.

Keep well and I hope to hear from you,

Hi Wallflower!  Your praise kind of leaves me stunned, but you sure did put a big smile on my face.  I really don't know anything about poetry, syntax and all that.  All I know is, words come into my head and I just write them down.  I am really bad to stick my foot into my mouth when I talk to people.  My mouth speaks before my brain thinks.  At least when I write things down I can preview where my mind is going.

I would love to see your list!  I don't consider myself courageous or talented and I guess I am opening myself up for criticism but at this stage in my life, I don't care anymore.  How can anyone hurt me more than bc has?  Please don't be afraid to write down and share your words.  Everyone is important and everyone has a story.  I used to volunteer years ago at my dd's Middle School for their art department.  No training there either, but those kids were fantastic!  Some would tell me they couldn't draw a straight line.  I told them that I couldn't either without a ruler.  I told them everyone could draw.  It didn't matter if it didn't look like someone else thought it should.  What was important was that it looked like something to them.  So many of them gifted me with their paintings and drawings and I will always treasure them.

Sorry for going on.  I would love to hear from you again and I also, wish you well!

A hair song  from Aihoolie Records - a compilation of recordings from all over America, halls, bars, spanish, french, bayou, zadeco, polish polkas.. just song that people sang - recorded in 60s to 90s.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arhoolie

this particular song is a Louisianan black man named Lightnin Hopkins singing with a plunky guitar. - super bluesy.

    ===============================================

Give me back dat wig i bought you black woman

let your doggone head go bald

Give me back dat wig I bought you black woman

let your doggone head go bald

you know I got the news this morning.

little girl you don't need no hair at all

(she don't know why butI'll tell you)

I don't got no money to buy hair with baby

    now I ain't got a lousy dime

I don't got no money to buy hair with baby

now poor lightnin don't have a lousy dime

you know I ain't gonna buy no more wigs

    cause Im not able

but you old bald head woman could show me some hair sometime. ..heh heh

they tell me the hair's a woman's glory

tell me why did you wanna cut it off?

    whoa -  they say hair's a woman's glory

why did you want to cut your hair off?

she said "really I wanted to do it Lightnin

cause I wanted to hear you talk that talk".... heh heh

Wallflower-----this is like my go at watercolors-----you just do what nancy said & dive in! I can't COMPETE, but I can satisfy my NEED to create. The ppl here are SO supportive & accepting of the EFFORT! The finished product only needs to be the exercise that brings us to the next plane! I consider these artistic solos into the unknown yet another breach of my past habit toward protectiveness (a shyness about revealing my limits.)

....to boldly access what I'm feeling inside & start weaving it into SOMETHING! Otherwise we never know where we MIGHT go..........HUGS

It IS hard to put yourself out there, but it feels like when I went skydiving...practicing throwing myself in God's arms assured He will catch me!

    Be well & stay strong

I luv all this poetry ladies.

    Always There

    I can't hear your voice
But I know what you say
    Right here beside me
    Yet so far away
    You haunt me
    Like an angel from above
    Reaching into my soul
    Knowing all I feel
    You take my heart
Holding it close to your chest
Safe in your care, your gentle touch is best
    Go ahead and haunt me
Like an angel of the night
Reach into my soul and know all I feel
    Open your window at night
Breathe me in through the air
    Miles between us are nothing
A part of me is always there

You ladies inspire me... I love reading through these submissions...does my heart good Smile

I wake up and feel dread...

then I walk outside and see beauty.

    I start feeling anxious,

my grandson does something silly and makes me laugh.

    I feel panic start rising,

and then I look into my husband's loving eyes.

I'm alone and my thoughts start to go awry

the phone rings, it's my daughter and she soothes my heart.

I go to sleep thanking the Lord for making it through the day.

My dad was checking out and this once brilliant logician
could no longer work the remote on the television.

i removed the spark plugs to keep his car in the shed
He was supposed to go to the doctor and was contrary
I could drive him in his car, and he wryly said:
"Isn't that ironic - the car will start for Mary".

    .

    .

(not a great poem in meter or rhyme but i stumbled across this last nite while searching my archives)

    New friends...

That I would not even recognize if I met on the street.

Many are plodding along feeling the same way

    on any given day....

They care and it's to them my soul I bare.

They know where I've been because they've been there too ...

We try to lift each other up, but let each other be blue.

    Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry;

and often we just wonder why...

and then there comes another person that we can encourage

or just lend an ear, a "newbie" who is full of fear.

Sisters of breast cancer, each others burdens we bear.

New friends, good friends, to my eye brings a tear.

    A Lonely Man

A lonely man was sitting on the bench all day,

By the pond and there he would stay.

No one stopped to say hello, to this lonely fellow.

He started to feed the pigeons again, At least he

knew he had some friends. He would just give

a big sigh as he watched all the people go by.

The mountain would start to hide the sun,

Then he knew his day was done. So he would

go home  at night to stay, Hoping he would find

a friend some other day.    Debbie

    Angels Speak Soflty

Look towards the sunshine to dry your tears

Feel the warnth upon your cheeks

Close your eyes and forget your fears

Sometimes it's okay to feel weak

Breath  deeply the fresh clean air

Absorb the breeze as you smile

Watch the wind fly away with  your cares

It's okay to let go once in awhile

Feel the life in the fresh spring grass

Fill your soul with its grandeur

Soon all your troubles will pass

You are strong enough to endure

    God's angels softly sing

We are with you all the time

    Hide quietly beneath their wings

    Assuring and loving you divine

                     Healing

God's healing hand reached out to me
When I was hurt by life.
His arm wrapped 'round in comfort
    protecting me from strife.

My prayer was answered in His love.
    His saving Grace the key
To finding peace I had not known.
And joy came back to me.

    Together

Together we can make it better, It may be

    sunny or stormy weather.

Together we can love the tears away and make

    life special in every way.

And if your world starts turning blue, Together we

    can make it threw.

This old world and you and me, Together will make history.   By Debbie

    Give America Courage

Give America courage to see the days ahead,

Help Americans to lift up their heads. To not

be frightened in anyway, Don't let America run

away, From the dreams and togetherness that

    might fade away.

Give America patients to see your always there,

To keep America in good cheer. If their patients

grows slim, Please let them know You will be with them.

May America hold hands of love in which to say, "Love

in America is here to stay." In this we pray, Amen
