Busymom- Wow... talk about stress. But at least you are done with rads! wohoooo!  Hope your dad has a speedy recovery. I am sure he understands you not being able to be there, do not feel guilty! and cake.. yummm what better way to celebrate!

Martha-My rad nurse told me if my burn gets any worse they would give me silvadene... I don't know how much worse they wanted me to get!

Elaine-I so envy you for your energetic attitude and ableness (is that a word?) to exercise regularly throughout this whole thing.   I think that is my problem these days, I am NOT exercising, and I am feeling really ... blah!   On top of that I am eatting up a storm... what is up with that anyway!??!  OIE.  I need to get motivated!

It feels so good to be done. I layed on that table today and when the tech went out to start the machine, I started crying! I was just so happy, I was bawling by the time I got back to the car, my MIL was wondering if I was ok, when I told her they were happy tears, she started crying with me. My kids thought we were nuts ;)

Elaine, your new avatar is great!

Patoo, I am studying Computer Information Science and taking a course in Business Communications right now. The professor is interesting, and I got n A on the first two tests, so I am happy about that.

My skin is starting to peel. It does not hurt as much today.

Congrats to all who are finished!

Congrats to everyone who finished rads this week!

Only 6 more treatments for me, so the end of rads is in sight.  It was confirmed today that I have a bladder infection, so I'll be on Cipro for 10 days.  Yuck!

    Have a great weekend.  --bonnie

Sue, my underarm looked exactly the same, and then, big, thick chunks peeled off.  Not like a sunburn where thin pieces flake off, this was think.  Underneath was white skin.  Before the big chunks peeled, it hurt really, really bad.  I was alternating tylenol and advil.  But it is better now.  I am 2.5 weeks past my last treatment, so it is time!  My expander has also become more boulderish.  It didn't bother me before, but now, I'm over it!

HI all....I know I'm a little late joining this forum but I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.  I started RADS on April 27,2009. I now only have 4 treatments left.  I guess I consider myself  lucky since I really didnt have any side effects until the last 2 weeks.  My skin is scorched and I have a blister underneath where my bra rubs...OUCHIE!  Im glad that this forum is here...it makes it a nice place to talk to other women that are going through the same thing.  God Bless you all and Gentle huggs Smile

Hi, welcome to the group :) A few weeks ago, my rad tech told me to stop wearing a bra as much as I can. What Ihave been doing lately is that I'll wear a tight enough tank top than put a shirt or another top and nobody would ever know I'm not wearing a bra.

Congrats again to all who are finishing up.

The fatigue has definitely kicked in over here.  I finished last Friday, and I am a sandbag.  It's not just physical, but also mental...like I just couldn't be bothered with most day to day things.  I was also told something like 7-10 days after where  I would really notice the effects.  No kidding.

Congratulations to everyone who finished this week!

The day after my last treatment my co-workers threw me a party!  It was wonderful.  It was a very nice way to  start my new beginning.  Today ,My mom and dad are planning a party as well.  Just my close family, will be fun.  The sun is shining, going to be about 75 today.

Monday will be two weeks since my last rad, and I notice a few days ago my energy returning. I am so happy about that!   I walk 2 or 3 times ,1/2 hours each time, Monday- Friday. But now I notice in the evenings I have been staying up later.

How everyone has a great weekend!

Isn't it hard to believe that June is almost here?

My underarm and the crease under my Mx scar have been peeling in big chunks. I am still applying cream, and that seems to make it softer for awhile, then it turns hard and leathery and flakes off. Yuck.

The weather is beautiful here in SE PA today, and I would love to go swimming, but since I started rads have been very sensitive to the sun. Am hoping this will pass soon, as summer is here.

School is going well. If I take a nap in the afternoon, I am able to stay awake until I get home around 10PM.

AS it is only five days since my last treatment, I will have to be patient while the side effects go away.

    Have a great Sunday afternoon!

Man am I tired....think I have about reached my endurance limit. Still fatigued after rads but what did me in was my daughter's bday party. She had 13 kids here, plus the six of us. So I never stopped from the time I got up, cleaning, shopping for food, making salads, putting everything out, filling stuff in, cleaning up after everyone moved into the house (too cold to stay outside), then cake and ice cream and another round of cleaning up, and then putting away all the chairs, etc outside....I think I went to bed finally at I want to say midnight?

I find myself starting to fall asleep on the couch around tenish every night, but then I get a second wind or something? I finally go to bed and just lay there trying to fall asleep. But that could take a while. Especially with my husband's loud breathing/noises...not really "snores"...but they keep me awake just the same...Hopefully tonight I can get some rest.

Decided to go in and have a couple moles looked at and had the one on my neck removed last week. Think I might have mentioned it but I haven't posted in  while, so if I am repeating myslef sorry...I got infected and am now on an antibiotic, my neck is red and sore. And I feel so worn out...I am debeating whether I should even try to deal with the one on my face, but I guess that depends on the biopsy...

Rads are a breeze compared to the mole thing lol  Skin is doing really well. Go in for my two week check up on Thursday (will be almost two whole weeks since I finished yeah!!!). Have been falling a little behind on the cream and have only managed to pull it off twice a day, hope my skin doesn't retaliate, but it looks pretty good to be honest.

Seem to be doing ok with the Tamox. Am definiately getting some type of hot flashes. Nothing unbearable, nor do I wake soaking wet, but I do find myself getting too warm a few times a day. Some days more than others not sure why. ..but so far so good.

Susan, Bette, Brandonmom- hope your skin feels better....yikes...so sorry to hear that..

Bette- hope school is going well for you...keep up the naps....tell that wonderful flower bringing husband of yours to let you rest ; )

    Lainey- love the new pic!

Gotta go..starving...never had lunch today, nothing here to bring..too tired to go back to the store yesterday for the "basics"..vegged all day. Wish I'd had enough time when I was party shopping to get the extras, but just didn't have it. I have been watching the clock, took my antibiotic and have to wait one hour to eat...and it is sooooo time!!

    Take care ladies!

Debbie, woohoo, last rads today, right?  Congratulations!!  I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question.  I would just ask your techs and see what they say.

Beth, I'm finding myself getting fatigued faster now that rads are done.  I'm the same way in the evenings.  I doze on the couch watching TV then get into bed and have a hard time falling alseep. I'm back to taking Ativan but I'm only taking 1/2 of a 1 mg tablet.  It seemed to work fine last night.

I can't believe we're all close to looking back on this experience and saying "we're done!".  I see my rads onc on June 12 for my 30 day followup.  I haven't seen him in awhile and miss the little guy.  :)

    Have a great day everyone!!

Debbi-Congrats on being finished with rads! Wohooo!  I wouldn't worry about not having the extra 2 zaps to your supra. area, I had 25 in total and they told me that they hit me "pretty darn hard" even with "only" 25.

I think I hit the post rads fatique wall today.  Either that or I had a weird reaction to taking Melatonin last nite which didn't help me sleep one wink (I'm going to stick to the Ativan from now on).  My head is fuzzy and I just don't feel right.  I'm off from work tomorrow and Friday, maybe that will help.

    Have a good day!

Sue, I took melatonin the other night too.  Was trying to get off the Ativan but I had a terrible night of sleep.  I kept waking up all night, had hot flashes and kept having to use the bathroom.  So last night I took 1/2 of a 1 mg Lorazepam and I slept very good.

Yay for Debbie!!!!!!  I ce cream party is coming up for ALL  of us.

Today was the first day since finshing rads (12 days ago) that I felt like I had some sort of normal energy.  I really needed it today since I had to prep my home for termite tenting that starts tomorrow.  I've been dreading this day for the past week, but I noticed that I felt sort of okay and played the 80's music channel on the cable menu and ended up dancing around the entire afternoon.  Of course now, I'm can feel a little of that fuzzy headed feeling.  Watch, tomorrow I'll be back to being a human sandbag.  But for today, it felt pretty good.

I've also been on ambien cr for the past four months.  But after rads, I decided to wean myself off of it.  The first night was maybe one REM cycle, but gradually, the sleep has gotten better. Last night I had about 6 hours uninterrupted.  Also, have been having more dreams...which I didn't have on the ambien.  So, if you can stick out the first few nights of pretty much non sleep, it may get easier.  I just want to get off as much meds as I can...gee, can anyone relate to that?  :)

Here are a couple interesting things I read today:

1st one about antidepressants and tamoxifin- taking antiD to prevent hot flashes can lower amount of tamoxifin active form in bloodstream ..........Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft can virtually wipe out benefit tamox provides...Worth paying attention to for those of us taking Tamox...

    www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31017392

2nd one about preventative mastectomies on the rise- they should just read the boards don't ya think?

bethaib -- I read the article about antidepressants and tamoxifin too -- interesting.  I'm on Arimidex and suppose there are things that interact poorly with that too.

I've been on Cipro since last Thursday for a UTI and until then my skin was doing real well.  Now I'm a crispy critter with just 3 more treatments to go.  Ouch!   --bonnie

Heya gals!  I've been kinda takin' it easy the last few days since I almost gave myself a heart attack last Friday mowing.  I admit it, I need some rest (d@mnit)!  I actually ventured out today to do some grocery shopping "topless" for the first time.  It felt wonderful!  I may just have a bit of fuzz, but I'm done with the cover-ups.  Who gives two sh#ts what anyone thinks about what we look like after the battle we've been waging to live?!  I say, be proud!  If it makes someone uncomfortable......I've got several other bald spots they can kiss!  Ha!

Off to watch a movie, little man is snoozing away.  He looks at me adoringly, regardless......that's all that really matters to me.

Hugs to all (careful of the radiated and tender flesh)!

Fatigue is a problem for me post-rads, as well as lingering dizziness. My head has been spinning so bad, that my onc referred me to a neurologist.

My skin is peeling like crazy. Looks like my chest has dry rot. In some places the second layer of skin is peeling as well.

I am ready for ice cream! Mint chocolate chip or Moose Tracks.

Bette -- sorry you are still dealing with the dizziness and fatigue.  Have you seen the neurologist yet?

It seems like quite a few of us are crispy, peeling, sore and red.  I have one more rad on Monday and my chest, neck and underarm are red and sore, but the techs told me my skin looks fantastic for where I am in the treatment.  They probably say that to everybody!

I'm definitely on board for the ice cream -- a hot fudge sundae with nuts, whipped cream and a cherry sounds just about perfect!!
