I hate bureaucracies!

My onc suggested that I have an MRI instead of 6 month diag mammo - I have architectural distortion because of mammosite infections. Ok, so I call at the end of May, as instructed, and they give me a phone number.

Call, talk to what seems to be a very nice woman, she explains that they don't schedule June appointments in May (okay, but I do wonder what they do on June 1), and tells me to call back on June 1.

I get home from work, call, we're sorry, she's already gone home for the day (She didn't tell me there was only one person who did this, and she works 8:30-5:00) They tell me to call early the next morning.

So I do - no answer. When the phone system finally does pick up, get put on hold. Am on break from work - wait 8.5 minutes, cell phone buzzes - I am out of time on my pre-paid cell. So I call the cell phone company, buy some more time, call back.

Go back to work, and work with phone to my ear (no, this is NOT allowed at my company, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do). About 10 minutes later, she's there.

Very polite about waiting as I scuttle out the office door. She asks me if I want to come in Saturday or Sunday. Hunh? We have stuff scheduled for this weekend. I say, how about next weekend - no, they only make appointments for the coming week - so, call back next week.

I started to cry. This stuff is so HARD - why do the hoops have to be so complicated?

WHY DON"T THEY EVER TELL US THIS STUFF?

And can I deduct the minutes charges from my bill?

Oh Sue, I'm so sorry you have to go through this!  Sometimes I think secretaries should all be required to have a week of assignment that they have X disease and try to get through and just make appointments!

    How very frustrating,

I've never heard of a place that scedules only for the week.  It sounds very strange.
