Partied on dance floor all night at our niece's wedding! Had to show those youngsters how to shake it! LOL Had a great time! Today back to working in the yard and staining the deck!
-
Here is a great article on diet and how it is important in the fight against "C"

Great article Lisa! and I bet you showed everyone a thing or two on the dance floor!
Sounds like you all had a great weekend! Patoo, that sculptural park looks beautiful, wish we had something like that here.
Vivre, thanks for the bailout! We can use all the help we can get. Have you ridden the new bike yet?
I didn't get much exercising in this weekend although I had a wonderful weekend! Got up 4am on Sunday and drove to the Bay Area with hubby and while he worked overtime Sun/Mon I spent time with my younger daughter!!! I can't tell you how much good that did for my psyche!! We had so much fun being together and when I met her roommate, Tiffany (my daughter) told her friend, my mom is so fun and she can move! haha We did go to her campus and walk on Sunday, so beautiful there and hilly.
Anyway, back to reality...must exercise tonight, however pooped I am!
Have a GREAT day all!!
-
I envy those of you who got away for the weekend! We spent it working on remodelling a tiny guest bath, and it looks like we've barely started!
Well, between the heat and some app'ts. last week, I didn't get in as much walking as I expect of myself. My total came to 18.5 miles, so I hope to get it back up this week. Headed out now before it gets any hotter.
Have a great 4-day work week, everyone! Deanna

Hi All,
Back from DC!!! It was totally wonderful. They are housing the college student interns in an appartment building in the shadow of the US Capitol building!!! I just can't believe my first born is grown up!
We did a TON of walking! Saturday, we were almost 13K steps! I think the weekly total was around 25 miles!
Vivre, how was the bike???
Deanna, I was thinking of you and Vivre when we broke the weekly 20 mile mark!!!
Lisa, thanks for the article! will read!
Kari, being with your daughter is like tonic for the soul!!
Rainy here today. Thinking eliptical cross trainier today....
Spring.

I just got back from the bike shop. It seems my DH is not so great with mechanical things, could be because he does not read directions like a typical man. Anyway, he could not get the gears going right so I took it to the bike shop. I only got to ride it around the driveway, but it is going to be a beautiful weekend so I am hoping we can head for one of the great trails we have here. I love the way it looks, except it has pink tires. I hate pink now. But all the other colors were so geeky. The bike is all black. I am trying to think up a cool name for her. Any suggestions?
I don't think I even need a workout somedays. I get exhausted just thinking about all Lisa manages to accomplish in a day. Wow, you are something else Lisa!!!!
Kari-Is your daughter in SF? That sure would be a great walking workout! We went to Northern CA last year and had a great time. We walked all over Pt. Reyes and stayed there is this treehouse! It was so much fun, all glass, and a funicular to get you up to the door. Next we saw a cousin get married in a vineyard in Sonoma. Then we skirted SF and headed to some of the beaches south on HW 1 for more hikes. We skipped the city. Been there, done that, and I still think Chicago is prettier. But of course, I am prejudice!
I think that trip saved my life. The cousin, moved up his wedding date to his long time love when she had a recurrance of bc. It was a few months later, that I felt my lump and with her in mind, I did not waste time checking it out. I was so lucky that mine was an early stage. Sadly, she did not survive, but the fact that we were there, at the same time as her wedding was what brought it all out for me. There are no coincidences in life, only blessings, even in the guise of sadness.

I just read an article that Wash DC is the #1 fittest city! Everyone must be like ants, just movin-movin-movin! haha
Spring, glad you had such a wonderful weekend getting your daughter settled. Our babies aren't babies anymore - sigh...I like the picture you painted in my mind of the capitol building in the backdrop.
Deanna, what a project, bet it will be very nice when you finish...if you finish...haha!
Vivre, you made me laugh about your hubby and the bike. So all black with pink tires??? WOW I think it sounds cool and sexy! Maybe her name should be Joy...as in Joie de Vivre! I like that!! My daughter is in the South Bay about 30 min. south of SF, close to the hills that head over to Santa Cruz, the beach/ocean. I just love northern Calif. but like you, I am biased. It is soooo fun to visit new places, but there's no place like home as Dorothy says.
Had lunch with my older daughter today! I am one lucky mama - both girls back to back!!
Blessings indeed!
-
Kari-I love the whole joie de vivre idea, but joy reminds me of Joy Behar. I cannot stand that woman! Any other suggestions?
-
vivre ~ Bike names...
Simone
Belle
Catherine Deneuve
Anouk Aimee
I'm obviously thinking French, but maybe she needs a California name??? Deanna
-
Hmm, Joy is out. Good one though Kari!
- Pink Thunder (no you don't like pink!)
- Speed-ette
- I like Belle from Deanna!
- Brooke (as in ride your bike through one??)
- Black Willow (Willy for short!)
- Lance-ette (as in armstrong)
- Victory! (Vickie for short!!!) Our Victory over this horrible cancer!!!
- Velocipede (A synonym for Bicycle! who knew!)
Let us know what you decide, Vivre!

-
I am liking Victoria, Victoire in French-but she might need a California girl name- Cally-girl?. French is another good idea-
Gigi? LaBelleRose(rose is pink in french)
FattyLaBelleRose(she is a bit chunky) LOL
While riding my indoor bike tonight I though of Roxie, after my favorite Sting song Roxanne. That song always makes me want to get going.
Keep the names coming. I will decide on my top three and you guys can vote for the winner!
-
Love the bike naming contest! LOL
It is true our kids grow up too fast. My first born turns 20 this weekend...and my "baby" will be 19 in August. Seems like just yesterday I was chasing them around the yard. Well, I still do that! LOL
Worked my Zumba student's butts off tonight...they were just whining over the squats I had them doing after an hour of Zumba! LOL
Make it a great night!
-
Went to my RAds group and seems it is falling apart. No more rads and we move on. Can I hop on here? I've gained a few pounds since finsihing up everything but then a bunch of people are bringing me food to eat because I look too thin. NOT!! I haven't rode my bike lately but I am trying to clean up my kayak so I can go out on it. I finally got a rack for my SUV and now hoping for good weather on my days off. I am single and on my own. Went to my ONC and my bloodwork came back good. I am so tired of doctors! I still tire easy and try to take things slow which isn't me! Takes me two days to mow my yard when it should take me 2 hours. Good thing I live in a area that you are suppose to take things slow. I'll read more of the thread when I get to work tonight so I can get to know each of you. Have a great day. Joy
-
forgot to add you to my favorites so I had to jump back on for a few. Thanks
-
Welcome Joy!
I did 50 minutes on the eliptical cross trainer this am. I skipped yesterday altogether, but today was a ton of sweat, so hopefully I made up for it!
Vivre, I like the Rose (French) given the pink tires. What about Victory Rose? or Vickie Rose for short??? he he. I'll keep thinking!
Maybe we need to work in her sleek black angle as well (don't call her chunky! It will hurt her feelings! ) he he!
Spring.
-
Welcome Joy......of course you can jump in here with us crazy gals! The more the merrier!
Had my blood work this morning...see the onc next week!
How about Lady Rose for the bike?
-
Okay you guys, I really appreciate all the help with the names, but Rose is out too. Reminds me of Rosie ODonell. Sorry I just have a problem with big mouth libs. Okay, you can all hate me! But I know Rosemary will understand. She has the mary in there and she is a woman after my own heart!
Maybe I need to stick to words instead of names. I guess I could name her Zoomba! Then I can tell Lisa I can zoomba too!
sobx-hope we can get you motivated and not scare you off! Bienvenue!
-
ROFL.......I love it...Zoomba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Zoomba works for me!!
-
I love Zoomba too! Or maybe it should be Zoooomba.
-
I am laughing at my desk. Just signed on! The names are GREAT! Or Vivre, we can go in a whole other direction...Madge, Nelly, Ingrid...haha! We name our cars and people think I'm crazy, my car is Polly, and we have Tessi and Bev.
Brought my walking shoes, just ate an orange and on my lunch hour I'm headed to the mall to walk!! You ladies are Motivating me!!
-
I am liking ZOOMBA, but it does worry that it may look like I like to zoom around. While I like to ride at a good clip, I keep my bike in low gear because I like the workout. Why do you think it was so hard for me to find a bike? I did not want all those speeds that make pedaling a walk in the park. My last bike was a one speed. I totally wore it out. It will not steer anymore, so it is not on my indoor stand. After listening to everyone complain that I rode an old lady bike (even though I kept up just fine), I opted for the 3 speed. I am moving up in the world!
Headed out to play in the mud. I have to get some seeds in between rains.
-
I still like Zooomba, but working off the three speed, how about Tres-a??
Kari, My real name is Bev!! LOL!!! What kind of car am I anyhow??? I hope not some old jalopy!!!
-
Spring, that's hilarious! You are a hot convertible Porsche Carrera!! (of course) Bev because she's from Beverly Hills!! OMG, I'm still laughing!!
Vivre, how about Sonoma? That's a California name and a place that saved your life! and there are people with that name! something to think about.
Forgot to welcome Joy, we are on the same Rads thread!! so happy you're here!
-
oh walked my tushie off at the mall during lunch, I came back to work sweating (well it was over 90 degrees then too, haha)
-
Guess I better get my walking shoes out and my bike and I washed my kayak this morning so I can take her out too. Now for it to stop raining. I have a dog that I walk every morning and evening. Depending on what shift I work to what time I do this. I even walked in the rain this afternoon with her and got a lot of crazy looks. Hey - I'm happy to feel the rain and breath every day. Just happy to be able to do all of these things. I have a 10 speed and never take it out of 3rd. I did go to a yoga class this afternoon before coming into work. Need to keep breathing deep!!
-
Kari, just think of all the toxins you sweated out!!!
Am I *really* a Porsche or are you just teasing me?????
-
Joy, I bet walking in the rain felt GOOD! Keep up the good work! I've never been in a kayak, that sounds fun, my hubby wants to get one.
Spring, you really are a porsche!! See:
-
woeeeeeeeeeee, i posted that huge! it was my first time....oops
-
Wow!!! I've always wanted to be a Porsche!!! Gives a whole new slant to "My Mother the Car". lol.
Kari, I will now think of you zoombing around in that little number. How fun!
Walked this am at 6 something! Just reporting in!!!
Spring.
