    Girls,

Well, first of all, I love the support I get here!  There are so many wonderful women on these boards, and the courage and selflessness is amazing to experience.  We had a very unfortunate incident at our home last week, and my DH is now in the hospital.  Everyone is okay, but he is not allowed to have any contact with my kids until we are all sure it is safe to bring him home.  I don't want to get into what happened, other than to say it would not have had it not been for this terrible brain cancer that he has.  I appreciate your continued support, and I pray for all you gals/guys EVERY day.

    Faith, Love and Hope

    Bobbie

Bobbie - My thoughts are with you, your DH and your kids.  It is unbelievable the load you are being asked to carry, but you're doing it with grace and dignity.

My DH and I will be in Carlisle the first week in June - small world, huh?

Oh Bobbie, I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the situation gets resolved quickly, and he is able to come home soon. I was just thinking of you this morning actually, wondering how you were getting on. I ended up in the hospital myself last week (Febrile Neutropenia from the chemo) and I know how upsetting and stressful that was for everyone. So, as always, sending good thoughts your way and wishing you all the best.

You know what?  It does suck, but it's funny how we can take any situation and make it a better one.  One of my girlfriends made a delicious baked ziti and some banana walnut bread.  I took it in to see him, and we had a little picnic.  There was plenty of food to share with the other folks in there, and we had a nice time of fellowship going, believe it or not.  I met a 78 year old grandpa who was taking care of his nine year old twin grandsons while their mommy was getting treated.  What a sad story, but at least she was getting help.

My kids seem to be dealing with this so well.  The support from our church and friends has been tremendous, and everyone is taking care of the boys while I visit DH.  They will be seeing a therapist tomorrow to talk about this.  Everything is just going to have to work out.

    Peace

    Bobbie

    Girls,

Well, it truly sucked at the NIH yesterday.  Dave's cancer is back in a big, bad way.  We are just dealing with it the best way we can.  Last night, he told me that "we're going to be on TV when we beat this shit!".  He is truly an inspiration to me.  The guy never feels sorry for himself, and his attitude is awesome.  He makes me laugh all the time, and he's ticked me off on more than a few occasions.

What do I tell the boys (8 and 6 now)?  I have a therapy appointment this week, and I will get  his opinion, too.

Everyminute, God bless her, sent a little care package to my boys.  I know they will be thrilled.

    Love

    Bobbie

My brother in law used to always say "It's going to be alright, everything is going to be fine"  I wanted to scream in his face "NO IT ISNT!!!"  His peace got us through it all and now everything is alright - not the way we wanted it, not the way we wished, but it's alright.

The boys will be ok - amazingly.  They really will be.

    I wish you peace.

When we were down at the NIH, I met a little 8 year old girl named Hope.  She was undersized, and wore hearing aids in both ears.  Her daddy had her there for an MRI, and I helped her take out her earrings and aids.  About five minutes later, they came out, she was crying, and her daddy said she just couldn't do it.  She was an amazing little girl.  I also saw another child who was bald sitting on his/her mommy's lap waiting to go back.  It is truly humbling to see kids go through these terrible things..........About an hour later, DH and I were down in the cafeteria and I saw Hope leaving with her daddy, and she was smiling and waving at us.  I smile now just thinking about her-a bright, shining light.

    Bobbie,

You have been such a constant inspiration for me.  I wish I could say or do something to change things for you, but we all know there just isn't an answer to our concerns beyond support.  That being the case you have my thoughts and prayers.  SO much to contend with, but you have so much more on your plate and yet you continue to focus on the positives.  Keep Strong!

    Ladies,

You are so not going to believe this.  Today, for the first time, DH and I went down to the NIH to get another scan and to see if he would qualify for another clinical trial.  If you recall six months ago, the news was dismal and he was given three to six months to live.  Well, we were absolutely stunned, in the most wonderful way, to find out that his scans had markedly improved since then!  The edema that surrounded the tumor was gone, and the pressure that was showing on the cavities that separate the brain's hemisphere's was gone!  The cancer is still there, but it seems to not be as "active" as it was then.  The doctor, who only treats brain cancer and is tops in his field, told us that he has NEVER seen this happen before.  His best "guess" was that Dave had a lot of necrosis (cell death) going on, and that it was reabsorbed by his body over the last six months.  Necrosis is hard to differentiate from growing tumor on scans.

We're not entirely sure what this means, except that it is great news today, and gives us hope and time that we feel we didn't have before.  This is a great example of the many routes that the cancer journey can take, and how even the best in their field can't predict your future or your individual outcome.

Keep the faith, everyone!  Thank you for all your prayers and support.

    Love

    Bobbie
