Hi Everyone,

I was diagnosed with IBC last April. I have gone through Chemo, Mastecomy, Radiation and am currently going through a final round of chemo as a preventative. A few days ago I noticed a rash on the mastecomy side. My question is what does skins mets look like? When my oncologists looked at the rash she did not seem really concerned but it does not appear to be getting better. I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Dorothy

    Hello Dorothy,

My skin mets are mostly raised red bumps, could be mistaken for scar tissue. The most recent one looks like an insect bite, which I also believe is quite common.

If there is a rash of any kind you should have it biopsied...no waiting around.  Call your surgeon if your oncologist will not do anything.  Mine never looked like a bug bite.  But it was itchy and only a little bit warm. You just can't play the waiting game with this disease.

    Hi Gg08,

I received 32 rads and i did receive a boost to the scar. They have me on taxotere and Avastin, but the cancer grew back while I was on that. I met with oncologist today. It is confirmed skin mets. They will start me carboplastin sp? and taxol probably next week. My doctor would also like for me to be seen at MD Anderson, so I'm working on getting an appointment with them now. This has been such a huge blow for me. I'm trying to pull it together and I'm hoping the cancer has not spread beyond the skin mets.
